“The world is in trouble, but we’re going to straighten it out,” Mr. Trump told an audience at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. “When you hear about the tough phone calls I’m having, don’t worry about it. We have to be tough. We’re taken advantage of by every nation in the world, virtually. It’s not going to happen anymore.”

And yet politicians in many countries, for example Australians and those in the UK, keep harping on that their country has a "special relationship" with the USA!

Well now you know what President Trump thinks of these "special" relationships.

Soon the other side of the world join hands and change the crude oil denomination from USD to EURO or Pounds. Will be sssshhhhhh...... TRUMP

Can somebody whisper in Mr. Trump's ear the national debt of the US and how countries like China can pull the rug from underneath the US and have his empire come crashing down.

It is in the US's interests to make friends rather than foes.

Classic right-wing strongman demagoguery. Create imagined or exaggerated foreign enemies to rail against and paint yourself as the only person who can fix it.

This guy is smarter than Bush for sure ,I wasn't born through the times of Stalin,Mao,Nixon but my oh my this guy is making sure he will remembered along those names,I did live in Libya though but defn not close to the impact this guy is having on world and his own country.

And yet it's only the 13th day since Trump became President. He's just getting warmed up. Wait 'till he realises he's not the host of a tv reality show any more, but that he's the The President of the USA, the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful military in the world. That's when the real action starts.

What makes this worse is that the actions of the left are only playing into his hands and giving him more power and votes. Infuriating to see.

USA kills more people then the rest of the world combined together. Seems as if Trump now wants the blood of his own people. He is a psycho who hallucinates things that are not there. Has no idea of statesmanship or diplomacy at all.

He is actually correct. Everyone actually wants to take advantage of USA.But to say that openly is a diplomatic blunder.
:trump
USA itself take advantage of others (vulnerable)

Every country tries to take advantage of other countries when they see there is a possibility. President bigot is saying it like US is the only cow that is being milked.

The policies of left and liberals are what led to getting him elected, worst is left has never been pro-globalization but they ended up taking the blame just because they were pro-immigration somewhat.

This twit has only been in the office fir 13 days and it already feels like forever.

He is going to divide America for the worse.

How many countries has the US bombed or committed espionage in since WW2?

Not just America but the world. The jihadis must be loving Trump. He's fuelling the West vs Islam clash of civilisations narrative that ISIS and co have been desperate for.

I fear many young Muslims are questioning their place in the West and some of them will be driven into the hands of the radicals as a result of this manchild in the White House.

So you blame Trump if young Muslims fall into Jihadis hands? No blame on the parents and the Muslim community?

There will always be people like Trump who prop up from time to time. He thrives on division of opinion. Why do only young Muslims become extremists? Why not a Jewish/Sikh/Buddhist/Mormon/Hindu/Jain do not become one?

Its not on the world to integrate Muslims into the main stream. Its on Muslims to integrate themselves. World does not owe anything to any religion.

This will undoubtedly fuel extremism not reduce it. If you don't want to take my word for it, go ask the majority of counter-terrorism experts who agree this ban will serve as a propaganda tool for jihadi groups.

Charlie Winter, senior fellow at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence at King's College London:

The policy is far more potent than any video or other piece of propaganda ISIS could put out. He's a caricature of the evil crusader that they want to convince everyone exists.

Fawaz Gerges, chairman of contemporary Middle East studies at the London School of Economics and author of ISIS - A History:

By banning Muslims, lumping them with radical Islamism, Donald Trump provides ammunition and motivation for al Qaeda and ISIS. If you are serious about defeating ISIS, the last thing you want to do is portray the fight as Islam vs. the West.

Clint Watts, a former FBI counterterrorism special agent and US Army infantry officer:

"This isn't an isolated policy. Moving the embassy to Jerusalem. Calls for bringing back torture. All of these in combination amplify the rhetoric," Watts said. "Not only are we increasing recruitment, but we're making it harder for our partners around the world to fight with us against terrorism."

I could quote many more names. Did you know nobody in the CIA or the FBI asked for this ban ? Forget the moral issue, but think on a practical level how counterproductive this is. The US depends on local partners on the ground in Syria and Iraq to collaborate with their military, intelligence, and diplomatic personnel. By lumping ordinary Muslims together with the jihadis as a terror threat, Trump has damaged anti-terror cooperation.

A little bit of generalisation is see..

There are around 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and everything has to be taken in perspective.

Trump is temporary, only POTUS for four years I think. The US-UK special relationship is long-term.

Western world is so boring ,I'm all for American politics turning into South Asian type "Entertaining"

Wow didn't even know debates like occur in some part of the world.

I love the Canadian/British style of parliamentary democracy, the PM and Leader of Opposition trade blows face to face in a democratic manner. I don't know about India but in Pakistan the PM rarely ever visits the parliament and taking questions from the opposition is completely out of the question.

Also Thomas Mulcair is the PM-in-waiting. He has good chance of sweeping the next elections if Trudeau falters. The perception around Canada is that Trudeau looks good in photos, says the right things, but hasn't done ANYTHING he had promised.

Exactly. There should be chaos and strife in the world so that you can overcome your boredom.
:)) u r the best
Not in the world just in our parliament, what is Indian Parliament if not for Lalu Prassad,Sushma Swaraj and Sharad Yadav.
Check out those English debates they seem so quick to get to the point no poems or "facial" expressions just getting to the point.

No way will there ever be a PMQs-like session in Pakistan. Can you imagine if Nawaz subjected himself to a grilling like this ?!

There's just something aboot Canadian accents that is so... Canadian. Am I aboot right?

British politicians claim there is a "special relationship" between the UK and the USA.
Australian politicians claim there is a "special relationship" between Australia and the USA.
Canadian politicians probably believe that there is a "special relationship" between Canada and the USA.
Many Germans believe there is a "special relationship" between Germany and the USA. Same for the Japanese.
American politicians state that there is a "special relationship" between Israel and the USA.

How many "special relationships" does the USA have? Especially considering that there is only one nation (the last one on the list above) whose interests most American politicians will put ahead of even those of the USA itself.

US and UK have a special relationship IMO, it is not imagined.

See post #31 above., ie How many special relationships does the USA have?

For most U.S. politicians, if push comes to shove, which one of these special relationships, in your opinion, would come first, before all others? USA-Israel or USA-UK?

They would both be equally prominent.

US relations with the other countries you mentioned, likes of Canada (border rivals, neither takes the other seriously), Germany (since when?), Japan (dropped 2 nukes on them), Australia (LOL) do not even come close to US relationship with UK and Israel - nowhere near the same level.

Just as the UK believes that it is "The Special One" for the USA, Australians are starting to believe the same.

Also, what does "special relationship" mean in the modern context? Tony Blair's Britain signing up to George Bush's American wars (Iraq) despite widespread opposition in the UK?

Let's face it, the only thing that matters to nations in the modern world (other than the Israel-U.S. relationship - and we all know the reasons why for that. (Hint: American politicians, sources of political funds, lobby groups ...)) is economic trade. And who benefits the most from such trade, along with the consequences for the economy if there is a hiccup in that trade. (Clinton election slogan: “It's the economy, stupid”.)

And in that regard, the UK is the seventh largest trading partner of the USA, even below South Korea, meaning, as an economy, the UK is only 8th on the list (with Israel 1st) in terms of real importance to the USA.
