UBL reach the final! Shan Masood stars in the chase with 100* (101). They will meet either Pakistan TV or Water and Power Development Authority in the final

Shan Masood seems to be in form of his life as far as limited overs cricket is concerned.

Maybe he is coming of age like Khawaja did in 2015 after 5 years of failure or the standard of our domestic cricket is low.

What the hell is going with shan masood these days

8 matches
573 runs
5 not-outs
3 hundreds
191 average

:shan = :don x 2 (almost)

To be fair, credit to him for performing in at least one format. No one can say he doesn't deserve a spot in a List A side. Having said that, the SR is still not at a similar level to others specifically the Akmals, Maqsood, etc.

Oh wow how on earth is Shan Masood doing so well in 50 overs cricket?

I fear Shan will get picked for next ODI series, hopefully selectors look beyond spreadsheets

Mansoor Amjad has been in pretty good from in the departmental cup. I am not sure why PSL franchises didnt select him as its not easy to find a good all rounder and he has established himself as one.

Anybody knows how is this guy Athar Mehmood playing for PTV, he is just 18 and got a good 5fer against Sui Northern?

Pakistan Television 118/4 * (28/50 ov) after being put into bat by WAPDA

Saud Shakeel 47 the highlight of PTV effort so far

2 wickets for Mansoor Amjad

Wahab Riaz being taken to the cleaners big time

7 overs 43 runs and no wickets - most expensive so far and this is a low score for PTV

181/6 in 41.4

WAPDA have reached 21/0 (4/50 ov) in reply to PTV's 231/9 (50 ov); Excellent bowling at the death by Mohammad Irfan who ended up with 3/33 in 10 overs #Cricket

Kamran Akmal departs for a well made 87 WAPDA 126/1 (24 overs)

WAPDA 234/1 easily beat PTV 231/9.

WAPDA v UBL in the final on Sunday.

Result: WAPDA won by 9 wickets

Toss: WAPDA & elected to field

Umpires: Asif Yaqoob & Imtiaz Iqbal

TV Umpire: Ahmed Shahab

Referee: Iftikhar Ahmed

Scorer: Waseem Abbas

Looks like Sr. Akmal has left keeping and Jr. Akmal has started his. Both are born with lots of cricket talent, but with a very poor work ethics. I am sure in any other profession as well, they would have done same - make an early impression for their skills, but then fade away for attitude towards commitment to hard work & lack of discipline.

Umar can make it back still, but sr. one is gone - could hve owned almost every PAK WKeeping records and he is a damn good batsman, those batting didn't develop beyond U23 level.

In this tourney he's been scoring at about a run a ball while carrying his bat. Sensational stuff.
I don't have much regard for him and his dad, but this kind of performance deserves a national spot.

Missing some parts of the second innings for those who were eager to see Kamran Akmal and Salman Butt in action :kakmal :butt but here's the highlights anyway.

Shan Masood & Asad Shafiq playing good in the National One Day Cup.

Pathetic Akmal brothers should not be selected for the National team and stay out of the team.

Asad Shafiq scored 2 centuries and 3 fities in his 7 matches of National One Day Cup. I think he is suitable to make a come back in the ODI side.

He should be because he is scoring runs.

While Akmal brothers are failures in the past. See 2011 and 2015 world cups and all the major ICC tournaments and foreign tours.

Why didn't you mention his strike-rate of 84? :)

You know your SR is bad when you're slower than Shan Masood (89) and Sami Aslam (88).

WAPDA in deep trouble on 95/5 after being put into bat by UBL in the final of the One-Day Cup (Departments); Mohammad Asghar has taken 2 wickets whilst Bismillah Khan (43) the only score of note from WAPDA #Cricket

Excellent recovery from WAPDA with Wahab Riaz (52*) and Khalid Usman (30*) adding 80 runs, taking score to 192/7 (42.5/50 ov) after their side was reduced to 113/7! #Cricket

WAPDA tail's resistence finally comes to an end as they are bowled out for 218 (48.3/50 ov); Khalid Usman last man out for 46; Top bowling effort by Hammad Azam as he takes 3/35 in 8.3 overs; UBL need 219 to win the One-Day Cup (Departments) #Cricket

Good start for UBL in their chase of 219 to win the final of the One-Day Cup (Departments); Shan Masood and Umar Siddiq appear in control of matters as UBL reach 28/0 * (6.1/20 ov, target 219) #Cricket

Am hearing that NO PCB media covering the OD Cup final - Mashallah!

Not a good day for the Akmal brothers it seems; Kamran Akmal (WAPDA) was out for 0, whilst Umar Akmal (UBL) has now been dismissed for 1; UBL 55/2 (11/20 ov, target 219)

Not surprised with Kamran Akmal failing here. Always been mentally weak. Can never be an international cricketer.

Maqsood is terrifying inzi with every run he scores or making his comeback more defficult.

UBL cruising towards victory.

UBL 178/4 (37) need 41 more runs off 13 overs.

Congrats to UBL, for becoming the champions of the Departmental Cup. UBL have been consistent performers of this season. Thre players dominated the QEA initial legs.

Another defeat for Chief Selector Inzamam favorites' Kamran Akmal, Wahab Riaz and Salman Butt.

Really impressed with the game of Sohaib Maqsood and Saad Ali. Sohaib Maqsood literally absorbs all the pressure and increases the score rate. Saad Ali is probably the find of this season, rotates strike and plays his shots really well. Younis Khan came at no. 6 and the made chase look extremely easy. One must be really detached to ignore these players in the domestic circuit, given your favorite 4 can't even score 20 runs together in New zealand

Shaan Masood - the highest Runs Scorer of National One Day Cup, scored 3 centuries, 4 half-centuries, in just 9 innings with the average of 158+

Shaan Masood should be selected for ODIs as backup, If Azhar fails in remaining 2 ODIs, bring Shan Masood in as Azhar's replacement for next ODI tours, but If Shan fails in ODIs also (like tests), drop him again. Simple.

Its best time to call Shan Masood & Asad Shafiq for the ODIs, While Saad Ali should be called for the Test Format.

I think they have selected Shaan Masood in the wrong format. Similarly what they did with Fawad Alam by dropping him from Tests and selecting him in the T20s. Lolz

Sadaf beccoming best bowler in One day format. What else does this guy has to do represent Pakistan in any format....

Really happy for Hamad Azam atleast he has started to make impact in matches. No happy with the SR of Shan in the final but then again he was chasing a low total.

Disagree with you completely, Asad Shafiq is a mental midget on world class level who has been tested and failed.

Shan Masood has been facing a little easy new bowl bowling if one had watched the Final match. He happens to be the son of a Board of Gov. member. He was literally helped onto a 100 with a run a ball by the opposition SSGC in sem-final. His strike rate is also odinary. Has a lousy game on the leg side, sorry to say not of a standard and would be slaughtered in South Africa and ANZAC -[Australia and New Zealand]. Given our nepotistic system Shan Masood has more of a chance than any deserving player.

Saad Ali fits in odi format for sure, and before giving someone chance in Tests the new player is first checked in limited over format. Has strong defense and great stroke play, does'nt allow bad ball go unpunished and remains busy by nudging the bowl around and hitting a boundary also. Some of the reason his strike rate does'nt fall below 80s and 90s.

SO shan is coming as a replacement.......that will be utter disaster.and shafique??/how many chances he needs?

Test team playing 11 vs England & Ireland

Azhar Ali
Sami Aslam/any other opener but don't see any.
Babar Azam
Harris Sohail
Asad Shafiq--He won't be dropped but would want Usman and Saad playing together.
Saad Ali/Usman Salahuddin
Sarfraz Ahmed
Mohammad Amir
Hasan Ali
Yasir Shah
Muhammad Abbas.

I never advocating for Shan Masood before, infact I was one of his strongest opponents about selection.

Well any one who becomes the Highest Runs scorer of the premiere domestic Tournament, deserves chance. Simple as that !! If not in the National team, then at least in the foreign tours of A team.

Select him as a reward of being the most runs scorer, but if he fails, kick him out. Simple as that.

Same is the case with Asad Shafiq - he is the 3rd Most Runs Scorer in the tournament with 2 centuries, 3 fifties in just 7 innings. It makes them eligible to be considered for the ODI format.

Select him as a reward of being the 3rd most runs scorer, but if he fails, kick him out. Simple as that.

Saad Ali can be useful in ODIs but not at lower numbers. Not below No.4. We need good strike rotators at No.3, No.4, No.5 and fast scoring power hitters at No.6, No.7 and No.8.

Composition of Modern Cricket Teams in ODIs :

01 - Strike Rotator / Solid Batsman
02 - Power Hitter + Fast Scoring Batsman

03 - Strike Rotator / Solid Batsman
04 - Strike Rotator / Solid Batsman
05 - Strike Rotator / Solid Batsman

06 - Power Hitter + All Rounder
07 - Power Hitter + All Rounder
08 - Power Hitter + All Rounder

09 - Tail Ender
10 - Tail Ender
11 - Tail Ender

It was just lovely to see Kamraan Akmal clean bowled on the first ball of the match. I don't even have to watch the rest of the highlights. This made my whole week.

You don't want to see Salman Butt run out for 19 and Umar Akmal out to a spinner for 1? :ashwin

Same here. I also watched Hammad bowling and am not impressed. I hoped for better pace but it seems he has not increased it with experience. I am afraid he has no chance of getting into PAk team if his bowling doesn't improve.

If he will ever make it to the team, it'll be for his batting. His bowling is very poor.

However, he doesn't seem to rate himself as a batsman which is disappointing. Was batting at #7 in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy even when he was captaining the side. Then in this tournament, UBL had a stacked batting lineup so he barely got a chance to bat. Shan Masood, Umar Siddiq, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Saad Ali and then Younis Khan mostly made up their top 6.

Where is the security

In the presence of much better all rounders like Shadab Khan, Fahim Ashraf, Imad Wasim, Amir Yamin... I don't see any future for Hammad Azam.

Glad the TTF One Day Cup is over. The list of top batsmen in the tournament is not encouraging for the future at all.

Wahab riaz top scoring
Hammad Azam gettin most wickets

Has Pakistani cricket lost its marbles and finally gone into Alice and the wonderland
