Management didn't back me properly
I've gone through tough times due to politics
I don't bat at a desirable position
I keep getting dropped
I have achieved everything as a youngster
My 1 run is actually equal to 2

These are examples of statements these two have made in past when someone has pointed out their non performance.

Never seen any other player overestimate his talent as much as these two do. Sometimes wonder who of the two is more deluded.

Do you think they will ever change or anything can be done to change their attitude and work ethic?

Full of excuses. A true talent makes the best of his situation not let the situation make him. They have no work ethic, if they worked early half as hard as Kohli they would be much better than they are now. Wasted careers kick them out forever. Invest in fresh blood

time to invest in players like shadab , usama and hassan ... their attitudes are still the same.. on today's little chat/interview during the course of the match shehzad was simply talking rubbish and annoying that his teammates made fun of him, asked him to shutup and asked zainab to go away from him...

I have more faith in Shehzad than Akmal. At least he tries to keep fit

Both are young enough to deserve another shot, despite the many they've already had. The talent is there is just needs to be harnessed.

Shehzad will come good. Umar is finished and should be forgotten about. Time to move on from that hack.

Shehzad will have a better career than Umar moving forward.

umar is only living on phone calls from corrupt elites and fan base. he can't be selected on performance as there is none. heck he can be selected without playing domestic cricket.

Shehzad will remain same mediocre dot balls king.He is simply not good enough.Umar akmal still one of the dynamic player in country.

Shahzad plays one decent innings in the PSL and suddenly he will "come good". :rosco

Both of them will perform at this level till the time they hang up their boots or get the boot :afridi

This is not stick cricket that you wake up one day and start batting like Kohli. Both have played ample amount of cricket and we have seen what their ceiling is. Both are in the mid to late twenties and you don't become a world beater all of sudden after floundering for the best part of a decade. The onus is on us whether we want players in our side who will continue to perform like this or we want better players that will take us higher.

Akmal needs to turn it around ASAP if he wants to end as an ATG. Otherwise any later and he will just be known as a good player who never lived up to his potential. Or he could just never turn it around and be known as a TTF.

Almost 8 years in international cricket and akmal hasnt even shown a tiny sign that he is maturing. He will play like the same when he is 40. Expect him to end up with average under 30 in odis.

so the ratio of akmal is he played a somewhat well inning in one out of six matches. atleast big akmal has better average of two well innings out of seven matches.

i dont see any hope for Umar. he will be a perennial underachiever who will show occasional glimpses of brilliance amidst a sea of inconsistency and failure. He will never be world class. Shehzad looks slightly improved from his last time in Intl cricket but will be interesting to see how he does once back in Pakistan colours. He could get 15 ODI tons because one of his good qualities is his ability to occupy the crease. But he will never be world class either.

You're all blind. Obviously Umar Akmal is just being persecuted by evil management who want him to tuk tuk. I meant what do you expect him to do at #6 - compare him to other batsmen at #6 in the world, its not as if they're batting any better there.

Oh wait...

Suddenly lost his form or bowling quality improved? What happens when he goes one step further at the international stage?

Some of those bowling attacks he bashed in the one day tournaments were pure trash, barely a single decent experienced or young bowler amongst them.

The match where he scored that 163 was against an attack of:

Ahmed Bashir, Mohammad Bilawal, Adnan Rasool, Umaid Asif, Qaiser Ashraf, Imam-ul-Haq and Anas Mahmood.

I think even Chacha Ifti would fancy his chances against that lineup.

⬆⬆
i thought before being called for AUS tour, akmal didn't play in two domestic ODI tournaments as no department and regional team considered him an ODI player. and before that BBL team throw him out too.

There work ethics have to change for them to have a successful international career from here. When you hear Umar complaining about batting position and Shehzad boasting about his scores and questioning why he was dropped, you know there attitudes haven't changed at all despite being dropped.

Shehzad will be called up sooner rather than later, let's see what he does.
