So much for Brendon Mccullam's constant non stop remarks against Umar Akmal in the previous PSL. Not only was Mccullam dumped by Lahore Qalanders as a player and captain, but he has not been deemed worthy of being picked up by any other franchise as a player while Umar Akmal has been picked up in the Gold Category by Quetta Gladiators.

Fair to say Umar Akmal has pawned Mccullam in the end.

Dont think so. Baz is retired. Umar akmal is (should have been) in his prime. Baz is a kiwi while UA is Pakistani. Obviously UA would be picked.
 
Picking up local and foreign players are two different aspects having different criteria. You can't compare both.
 
Yes, because getting selected in a t20 league shows how good of a player you are and how worthy you are.

Brendon: 13 year international career, fastest test 100, world cup finalist captain, one of the best fielders in the world in his time.

Akmal: poor batsmen, huge belly, zero work ethic, Can't even make a team which already doesn't have great batsmen.

This was a no contest to begin with. UA's immense talent, exceptional intelligence, remarkable fitness and his impeccable international cricket record is far superior to Mccullum. A fact corroborated by none other than his brother KA!

On top of this the 28 year old Umar Akmal's cricketing achievements will simply go from strength to strength while the 37 year old Mccullum must be shattered that his 16 year international cricketing career has seen an abrupt end at such a young age!

My point was that Karma is a B. Maybe if Mccullam had kept his mouth shut, things might have been different. There must be a reason why this so called super aggressive legend has not been picked up by any other PSL Franchise. Heck even Misbah got picked up by Peshawar Zalmi at 45 years old.

Is he still able to get picked? Is the draft finished is it still going because I didn't Rashid khan Mohammad nabi and a few other good players get chosen.

A watermelon's weight is mostly made up of water, which is not it's fault. If it was'nt of the water retention, melons would have made exceptional athletes!

Pretty serious tbh, Mccullam should hang his head in shame, in fact as we say in Urdu "Doob ke mar jana chahiye", over the fact Umar Akmal got picked in the PSL whereas a player of his repute didn't have any demand from any of the franchises.
 
At last Umar Akmal is out of LQ finally some hope for the Lahoris.

Bad times for QG, Hope Sarfi don't give him any game. He 'll be the best bechwarmer for QG .... What BMac has achieved in his career UA can only dream of and can become a star on "twitter" only.
Finally LQ has come to its senses and preferred real players and not go by the logic of hype.
 
One guy had a pretty fruitful cricket career, made a killing in 2 lucrative t20 leagues in his prime, revitalized his national team for a period and took them to WC finals in God knows how long, and then made a quick buck in a retiree and rejects t20 league before running his course.

Yeah am sure he gives a rat’s *** that Umar is back in Lahore Qalandar given that Brendan was born in Lahore and selecting someone as dishonorable as Umar for that team smears dirt on it.

Not right to compare the two, While Brendon had competition between foreign batsman that too of the Platinum Category as he would have already refused to play below that category, Umar Akmal had competition among pretty poor Pakistani batsman that too in Gold Category. I am sure had he been in Gold or even Diamond Category he would have been the first player to get picked unlike Akmal.

I don't think McCullum will be losing much sleep over this.

The guy has performed at the top for many years and is now playing a few T20 tournaments here and there, whereas Umar Akmal is better known for his lack of discipline and being a failed cricketer.

It’s odd, just enjoy the game and don’t worry about how your favourites are percieved and seeing the ones you hate fall.

We're in 100% agreement with Misbah and for cricketing reasons only however with Umar Akmal and McCullum we don't know what brewed up.

But one thing I will say BMac isn't some sort of trouble maker he's a decent guy and knows how to get the best out of his players for e.g. Yasir Shah was very good under his backing with the attacking fields he was given. Misbah on the other hand used to bowl Yasir to the ground with the most defensive of fields as we saw in Aus.

Umar Akmal on the other hand does have a history of behavioural issues and for him to be discarded in the middle of the tournament says a lot more about him than McCullum.

Having said that, I still feel Umar Akmal has a lot to offer his franchise and Pakistan cricket if he can get back to full fitness and put the hard yards in. He's a gifted player of pace and one of the four best at dismantling pace bowling in Pakistan along with Fakhar, Sharjeel and Asif Ali.

Umar Akmal probably costs less than what he was worth last year. Stupid to think this is somehow a win for junior. McCullum can make way more than junior can doing media work while Junior can’t even get his home team to believe in him.

Psl is as useless of a tournament as Pakistan's test squad is . Quite honestly I couldn't stand watching Psl , there was no excitement ,local talent wasn't impressive at all . It's more of a kaam chalao revenue machine.

Lol what rubbish. There would be no Sharjeel Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali without the PSL.

Atleast Umar Akmal is getting paid by a team unlike Mccullam who is not even commentating anywhere else.
 
McCullum will probably be back when Smith and AB decide to fly off.
 
Please enlighten me what has Shahdab Khan done so far ? What has fakhar zaman achieved albeit he bashed minnows , had it been not for a no ball he would have been lost to obscurity. In sharjeel Khan Pakistan has another of many many match fixers. Hasan Ali is yet to perform in test cricket. Now do one thing find the number of matches Pakistan has played while all of them were playing together and how many it has lost. Your reference need not to be Aisa cup only . And please admit it the quality of PSL isn't good , how can it be good when your national players are struggling . Please ponder over my rubbish

Wouldnt an Pakistani player automatically have a much higher chance of being selected in a Pakistani league? Thats like saying Napoleon Einstein was selected in IPL while Amla, Root, Guptill, Anderson went unsold

A guy who led his team to the 2015 world cup is an overated captain. While the guy who says he gets fat by drinking water is a great batsmen, infact better than mcculum

The kiwis got into the final purely on the basis of playing on their grounds, they got brutally exposed in the only game they played in Australia. And who can forget the legendary captains brain fade in the final against Starc

He's saying if the kiwis played on a ground other than Nz they would not even have reached the semis let alone qfinals.
They were not that strong unlike australia who would have reached the semi finals no matter where it would have been played

I’m sure both players got together and resolved their issues with each other and moved on at some point. You’re making a big deal out of a complete non issue.

Mccullam took the easy route of scapegoating an easy and convenient target rather than accept responsibility for his own and the team's failure. Personally think he is a very over rated captain who didn't win anything exceptional in his captaincy for NZ and he just fed off NZ's small grounds.

The PSL showed what a great captain he was when taken outside his comfort zone.

The QG team management showed how you deal with difficult individuals like a boss

Pretty sure Bmac isn't losing any sleep over Akmal winning PSL on the back of QG. Had he did it by being the captain of LQ then perhaps Bmac would have taken a notice.

Np. It is our job to remind Brendon Mccullam about how over rated he is and what successful team managements do to win tournaments with difficult players in their midst and that Mccullam is not really the world class outstanding captain that he is made out to be

Had a nightmare in the field and then did not get a bat.

Then he had to wait a bit to get his hands on the trophy, as Ahmed Shehzad was there,

Shehzad for all his faults works hard on his fitness and this was perhaps the fittest and thinest I have seen him. Umar Akmal still needs to lose a bit more body fat and get to the physical shape Ahmed Shehzad is in
 
McCullum was generally overrated based on the WC run where they failed spectacularly in the only match they played outside the postage stamp grounds of NZ. UA had a good tournament overall, hopefully he kicks on in the Australia series

He's going to walk in to the team locker with the same attitude that got him dropped in the first place: i.e., looking black playing the victim and not accepting the need to move on from the fact that he has been garbage for most of his international cricket and that he needs to set that right.

As a Lahore fan, Umar Akmal could win a 100 PSL trophies but I would still be happy this cringey player is not on my team.

The only one who tried to save his own *** and failed in the process by a cheap attempt to scapegoat another person was Brendon Mccullam. What Azam Khan's dad did was good man management and showed how you actually deal with individuals and get the best out of them.

Lol, i mean what are Mccullam's achievements exactly as captain, what is he rated on. He lost the 2015 WC final in the only ODI he played outside NZ, he played the most irresponsible shot as captain to a bowler who was in red hot form, all his major test victories are in NZ. Even Misbah was a UAE champion as captain and we call him out on it, so why these double standards for Mccullam.

Simple, non stop media statements against Umar Akmal in the media in the previous PSL when he had nothing to show for his own performance as captain for LQ's who ended up at the bottom of the PSL for 2 seasons in a row.

Brendon Mccullam has now been rejected by the PSL, IPL and is now finished in the T-20 market while Umar Akmal helped lead QG to a PSL title and earned a well deserved recall to the Pakistan team.

Yes Aqib is another one we need to get rid of just like Umar. Entirely up to Rana saab to show some guts and make the move but I can't control that.
