And has 3000+ runs, 20 fifties, a couple of centuries, an average of 35 and a sr of 86. That is not bad at all. Umar has performed at the international level but has not taken that step from good to elite but it takes time, he is only 27 still. The bigger issue was always his behaviour, sadly, now another issue has popped up and that is his poor t20 form.

Has his behaviour improved? I hope it has but sadly, his performances have dipped.

What about the Big Fat Elephant in the room, is he gonna slim down any time soon as well? That probably will solve most of his issues besides the mental one, only God can help with those IMHO!

Umar has gotten opportunities. He played what 6 matches on the trot in the PSL? What more does he want?
 
No.He deserves to be dropped from LQ squad.He has already been dropped from the Pakistan squad.He has been horrible for a long time now.Never mind the attitude issues.

Aus - 34.78
Bang - 39.66
Eng - 25.55
Ind - 15.28
Ken - 71
NZ - 18.57
SA - 21.50
SRI - 45.41
WI - 57.66
Zim - 34.5

It's quite clear that he has not performed against good teams..
How many more chances do you think he deserves? He has not learned in NINE YEARS. What makes you think that he will learn and get better now?

Didn't he play the first few matches for LQ and batted in the top order for all of them? Was that not an opportunity?

He has only been dropped for the last three games(and LQ has won the last three games).
 
Fat and grossly incompetent. Even Lahore should dump junior and hire Kamran instead.

Thats strange. I am not following PSL but would have thought he would be one of the Pakistani starts and would never get dropped.

If he doesnt fix himself now, after getting dropped in a tournament where he should be the biggest star, then he never will.
 
there are rumours that he has been let go by LQ because of some disciplinary issue.. details to come out when LQ journey is over
 
To be fair Kamran also called Umer out for not performing well enough to. Kamran also acknowledged that his own performance has been below par. Unfortunately he had to spoil the rational comments with one irrational one. Still, a vast improvement from the usual Akmal story of 'I will never admit my faults and it's everyone else's fault but mine'.

A leopard never changes his spots and in the case of the Akmals, that means that they will always be troublemakers and underachieve. I think its time to admit it - team Pakistan have moved on from the Akmals.
 
Junior Akmal is an excuse of a cricketer. He should join the bangladeshi team as a cheer-leader and learn the naagin dance. He has an innate ability for dancing.

Kami bahi needs 3 opportunities. Umar only needs "an opportunity", he is that good.
 
He needs to score runs in domestic cricket if he wants to play for Pakistan again.

He has decent records in SL, WI and AUs, whats the problem? Like I said, he has not yet taken the step to being elite, but he hasnt been bad either. Compare those stats to any number of young batsmen and they would often look similar.

UA is closed chapter ..no point pushing his case. As good as 'Floggng a Dead Horse' not gonna getup and run again ..I mean UA not gonna play again for Pak team !
 
Never say never with Pakistani cricket.. He might be selected in WC squad of performances before WC are not upto the mark of some junior players.
 
When one insults his own coach and drags him into press, how can oneself get back into contention? His last chance was last year when he should have begged Arthur for forgiveness in Inzi's room instead of making a big mess. He's out of Pak team until Arthur is in charge. Now with his antics in PSL, he's probably gone for good.

And you think he deserves more chances just because he performed in few games against WI and SRI? Dude, you gotta move on.. Our bench strength might not be the greatest but there are certainly some players who are waiting in the wings and are MUCH BETTER then Umar A.

Akmal brothers should have some shame/decency in making such arguments about getting opportunities:misbah3.
 
I feel pretty bad for him now.

He's got serious mental issues, he should really take a extended break from cricket and see a trained professional. He shouldn't be playing high profile matches and have his antics televised to the world
 
Times waits for no person. He got and wasted the many chances afforded to both Kamran and Umar. If anything Adnan was the least troublesome of the three. Hope neither of the three never represent Pak again.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has also scored loads of runs in domestic cricket recently but all that effort might not be enough for him to return to the national team.

Speaking at the post-match press conference after Karachi Kings beat Islamabad United to reach Sunday’s qualifier, Mickey Arthur, who is also Pakistan’s head coach, gave an indication that Kamran’s international cricket-playing days might be over. Asked if Kamran still could play international cricket, Arthur said: “You never say never. But to be brutally honest, we have a young team and we are moving forward. He played beautifully today, he was outstanding.

“But it comes back to where does he field? Sarfraz (Ahmed) is going to keep wicket. There are a lot of things to weigh up. And I think we have a Twenty20 side that is number one in the world, so there aren’t going to be too many changes for the West Indies series.” The three-match Twenty20 International series between Pakistan and West Indies will be played in Karachi with games on April 1, 2 and 3.

Karman entertained a large crowd at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium with an excellent display of power-hitting. He hammered seven sixes and 11 fours in his 61-ball 107 not out to help Peshawar Zalmi overhaul Islamabad United’s 172-4 for the loss of just three wickets with two overs to spare. This was also the first century in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League.

While Pakistan might need his batting skills in the shortest form of the game, Kamran’s biggest issue is where does he field. He obviously cannot keep wickets with Sarfraz Ahmed in the team. Sarfraz is not only the first choice wicketkeeper but is also the national captain in all formats of the game.

The right-handed Kamran last played for Pakistan in a One-day International against West Indies in Providence in April last year. His last Twenty20 International was also in the same series. Kamran has represented Pakistan in 157 ODIs, scoring 3236 runs at an average of 30.79 with five centuries. His 53 innings in 58 T20 Internationals have yielded 987 runs with five fifties and a strike rate of almost 119.

So on the PSL show with Imran Farhat etc, Umar Akmal was on the phone line.

Just a few seconds into the interview the journalist (??) cut him and anticipating some stupid remarks have a long disclaimer to him about not saying anything controversial etc etc.

Anyways interview was okay and Umar was like that he is more interested in how successful PSL in Pak has been etc

But then the rails started to come off. He started whining about his numbers saying "hum sub ko pata hai keh PSL mai Kya hwa hai koi dhakee chupee baat nahi" also said how he is batted different numbers in all matches he played and said "iss se mera confidence shake Kya hai" as if the point was to sabotage his tournament... Also pointed to performance of team as a whole (ignoring how the results turned once he was dropped)

Then the line cut off and interview was over :)) not sure whether they tried to reconnect with him

Yes he's working hard at ruining his cricket career and the little bit of respect and support he had.
 
As most of our Cricketers are illiterate they fail to see when their time is up. Being uneducated means they don't have any others means of making a living other then playing Cricket. Had Umar and Kamran etc been educated they would have had other options open for them instead they keep making silly comments to remain relevant. Respect to Indian players who due to being much better educated can change their career path if they can't make it at Cricket. A good education gives you many options n life, there can be a plan B, C or D.

If we need Umar Akmal, of all the people, to slog his way to a brainless 30 then the standards are dipping day by day.

2.Pakistani fans when Pakistan loses without Umar "Why isn't Umar playing? He should be given last chance"
Pakistani selectors bring back Umar for a series, repeat steps 1 and 2 for an endless loop till 2023.
 
He was better than any one in that SAF Series - still is, apart from Babar.

As if we have Laras and Tendulkars keeping him out. If he scores runs in domestic cricket than play him.

I have made peace with the fact he will represent Pakistan again.
 
Pakistan's batting strategy is to score before you get out. All batters play at most 50-60 balls.

Umer can do that better than almost all of then barring Babar.
 
I think we should give him a chance alongwith fawad alam in the middle order for our next text series. let azhar and asad take some rest and we should try these two with babar and haris in the middle and imam and shan at the top

Can't keep him out for long. He was dropped for his non performance and for the team losing, now Azhar Ali has to make way if we are to use the same yardstick

How many of the 72 percent wins has he actually held a bat and performed or led his team to a win?

Id say 10 to 15 percent.

Umar Akmal signifies the type of player Pakistan doesn't want at the moment. What's the point of a batsman who's good enough for 30-40 runs and throws his wicket away?
 
I’ve been working really hard in fact harder then Umar so I should get an opportunity too.....if this guy somehow makes the squad I will be there to shower him with filthy tomatoes

Lots of PPers obviously have a thing against Umar and because of that bias, cannot see how good he can be in a minnow batting lineup like PAK.


If he's brought back, he'll be our 3rd best batsman after Babar Azam and Haris Sohail.

I don't expect many PPers to agree, it's difficult to see the bigger picture and where his talent, skills, improvisation can be utilized. Very good against pace.

I have heard it all... The greatest talent choked on big occasions and did jack to win pak games.
Made several comebacks and caused nothing but humiliation. :uak:uak this is the face 90% when getting caught at deep midon or lbw on a straighter ball.

Another selfish player who would care about his flashy 30-40 in a losing cause nothing more. Stop supporting garbage and try to look for better players rather than going back to the recycled garbage.

A good portion of that are Bhakths who can't support inclusion of a player who could snatch Sarfraz's spot as WK-batsman in LO team.
 
Dear PP - please start to deal with it: Chote Nawab is going to WC. PCB will do lots of bahana before WC, but after PSL, PCB will select him for 30 men squad, then short listed for ENG tour and finally in WC squad. Nine games, so my hunch is by 3rd game he is at No. 5 :)

Keya shandar middle order bhai - 3. Babar, 4. MoHa, 5. Malik, 6. Sarfraz ................. almost drowsy.
 
He's played enough matches to have retired in some countries and he's not been given an opportunity ?

Lets be realistic.

Thats his only place and Sarfraz isnt going anywhere.

So thats why I dont agree with him wasting another spot instead of Sarfraz.
