He deserves to be around the squad.

Amir is really important because he provides control and doesn't go for many which can compensate for Shinwari in case he gets smashed.

Shinwari has never been very expensive in ODIs, only in t20s. He has gone above 6 an over only 3 times, and his highest economy in an innings is 6.75 vs India, this is a myth that he gest dispatched in ODIs

We could do with the in your face attitude of someone like Shinwari. It's also commendable that he didn't make a drama out of his exclusion from the WC squad unlike some Pakistan fast bowlers. He came back from that disappointment in Pak's first match and got the fifer. I know it was a depleted SL side but he still outshone the likes of Amir and Wahab.

The brilliant thing about Shinwari is when he picks wickets, he picks 3-4 wickets in 1-2 over bursts. This is Waqarisque, Akhtarisque stuff and can change games around completely unlike Amir's useless 0 wickets or 1-2 wickets mostly at the death and low economy. I don't mind Shinwari going for a few if he gets wickets upfront or in the middle as these sort of things win games.

Again this is that typical Pakistani mentality, 1 performance in a match or a tournament gives players "god' like status. We did this with Fakhr Zaman, Abid Ali, Umar Akmal, Hasan Ali, Mohammed Abbas, to name a few.

we just start adding superlatives like BEST bowler, best opener, best swing bowler. It does nothing but add unwanted pressure on players.

Coming to Shinwari, I think he is a good bowler, but swing? what swing? especially if you are basing this off of his performance in the 2nd ODI in Karachi. He had a good day against a sub par batting line up, but he can be EXTREMELY expensive at times, and I dont know if he has the ability to bowl under pressure when going for runs or when he has those days where things arent going for him, can he switch mentally and bowl conservative lines to dry up the runs. He isnt better skill wise than Amir for sure or Shaheen for that matter, lucky Shaheen is injured that he is getting a run, but there can be a rotation policy between him/wahab/hasan ali depending on who is in more form. My 2 cents.

His economy vs SA was 5.77

Look, i am not saying he is a bad player- may be worth investing in as he looks like one of few players who can be matchwinners on their days.

But, he can certainly get smashed also and that is dangerous.

He didn't get to play vs England.

i do agree he should be in the squad because of his wicket taking ablity.

The point i was making is that since he will probably go for runs, it is best that we have Amir in the same 11 to provide control.

You need balance and Amir's 'defensive bowling' would compliment Shinwari.

I would take Shinwari over Wahab.

Wahab did decent in WC, but i think he should focus on T20I and retire after T20WC.

Shinwari being an expensive ODI bowler is a total myth. His economy is below 5 - better than Hassan, Shadab, Wahab. In the 16 ODI's he has played, his rpo has exceeded 6.5 only once - and he only bowled 4 overs in that game.

His economy was 4.8 against Australia on dead UAE tracks

He hasnt been too good in the last few international T20 outings he had since SA T20s. Problem has been his death overs bowling.

Shinwari might be a better bowler than Wahab, but Wahab's batting is keeping him in the side to be quite honest. Besides Shinwari I feel has a mental lapse somewhere, when he starts getting smashed, he doesnt have the ability to really bounce back from that, his bowling under pressure isnt very great, his line starts to stray, and in t20 you should have some variations which I think Shinwari lacks in as well.
