The 21 balls Shinwari, who debuted in the fourth ODI on Friday, took to record a five-wicket haul was the third fastest in ODI history. Chaminda Vaas took five wickets off just 16 balls against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, while Timm van der Gugten, the Netherlands pacer, got there in 20 balls against Canada in 2013.

TBF this SL side is basically a minnow, they've won 4 of 26 matches this year. Even minnows aren't that bad.

You could say that but a team that won the WC (and that too, in the 90's) can definitely not be minnows. Poor form, yes. But they also beat India when it really mattered in the CT and almost beat Pakistan in QF's too so they aren't as bad as some people are making then out to be.

You could say that but a team that won the WC (and that too, in the 90's) can definitely not be minnows. Poor form, yes. But they also beat India when it really mattered in the CT and almost beat Pakistan in QF's too so they aren't as bad as some people are making then out to be.

This side was completely different, no matthews, malinga, Kusal perera, gunaratne.

Sri Lanka could have won 1-2 ODIs if their key players weren't injured

Post injury Shinwari is not getting through the crease smoothly. Seems imbalanced hence isn’t as consistent as he was against SL wrt his line and length.

Another thing missing is the the inswing against RHB where he dismissed many SL batsman with sharp swing. Wrist position and ball release (seam) is not what it was vs SL.


Hence Pakistan suffering. Otherwise we would have been our main striking force in Asia Cup.

Let’s be fair that there’s a difference in the batting he is facing, against Sri Lanka he would have a greater margin for error. Against top sides, he will be punished for every error and that in turn will bring out his true character: ie how to perform in the big moments. I am not belittling his talent, but even in his current form of you play him against Zimbabwe he will come through with flying colors
