I feel that its only going to get better from here. We got side filled with young talent. And Ruman will improve the bowling part on seam friendly tracks. What do you say? Was this victory a one time wonder or there are many more to come in this tournament?

Oh my goodness gracious. We will have good days we will have bad days.
Our fielding needs to improve in terms of consistency, bowning is fine. Batting needs to improve. Will take time. We need to back Mickey to take the boys through this phase where he tries to change the culture.
Imad shadab hasan have the swag that's needed. Just need to get the group to get their head down and work hard and stay committed.
Nothing will happen overnight.

Yes its obvious that all days wont be green. But should we expect majority of them as better ones? If one day practice can add such difference in fielding then what about the long term?

ItS all about culture change and professionalism.
We r capable of giving these performances now and the but r we capable of taking fielding seriously enough to not require the danda. Danda will only work sometimes, this is something that has to come from within.
It's about being mentally strong and heads not dropping when things don't go ur way but to keep plugging away and keep working hard

So it's not a days practice making a difference because we have these ups and downs a lot.

This is why I want Mickey to stay for a while because he is trying to change the culture where fitness is a prerequisite and that is what impacts fielding, taking sharp singles, being headstrong, preventing singles in the circle, stopping 1s becoming 2s in the outfield etc

Yes, dawn of a new era, just like in the 2015 WC when we beat SA. :yk

I think its more to do with the surface. We still have plenty of pedestrians on show and yesterday rain surely played the 12th man for Pak. I am sure if we had gone the distance this team would have given us a lot of tense moments. I still feel we are a batsman short and need to fit Harris Sohail in this team.

It seemed like everyone wanted to improve on their own. Not because of danda. That may reflect a better change.

Only Hafeez/Imad are weak spots on other surfaces among bowlers. One of them will probably be replaced by Ruman. Batting is the only other weak spot we got, but that can be turned over by Fakhar or any 1-2 good displays.

Element of a glitch, danda being wielded, and true ability (which although difficult to believe is present in the team, albeit in limited doses) combining vs South Africa.

For Pak, India is undeniably stronger as a team, but we don't help ourselves - we're mentally defeated before we take the field; some would say they have the "Indian sign" over us. This prevents us from even being competitive therefore resulting in huge defeats.

We seemingly play without shackles against other nations and tend to fair a little better or at least more competitive.

Yesterday's performance was a combination of some sloppy SA cricket, some good Pak cricket, a bit of luck, a bit of the sooti being wielded and a bit of pride.

It shouldn't have to take a bruising loss to a rival to stoke a performance though.

Professionalism is the key.

Congrats to Pakistani fans for a win against no 1 ODI side.

But i don't think that any dramatic change will take place.Need to find and introduce more new talents in the team.

Let's not go over the top. Pak is well capable of these performances once in a while. It's stringing two or three together that's the issue. Thread is very premature

Based on previous ups and downs of which there have been money it's probably a bit early tons yaar this came from within. I hope u r right !!

We also beat South Africa in the 2015 WC and you saw how our ODI team was after that. ODI team still has massive issues in rotating strike and hitting boundaries with too many passengers being carried.

That slow, dry Edgbaston pitch suited us as we had the spinners to exploit the conditions and restrict the opposition to a low score.

But on true, flat surfaces we don't have the batting firepower to compete when the opposition scores 280-290 plus. So let's not get carried away with one result.

True, must not go over the moon. We still lack much in batting department. Even lack attacking fast bowlers. But question is about whether we'll have more victories or not, regardless of our flaws.

That team was horrible, this one is cool.
and we can exchange Imad or Hafeez with Ruman for other kind of pitches.

The pitch had two games and it was on the slower side, but the problems are still there.

On a fresh pitch, it would have been a different story and the bowlers would have restricted them to a score around 320 or so.

Would the batting have chased it down?

The answer is well known and you can't expect pitches like these in the modern era very often.

Pakistan had a much improved game and deserved to win,it was no fluke. However their weak batting with test opener azar ali and dot ball hafeez will be exposed against any total over 270

The game against SA showed the true potential of Pak tbh. I mean your bowling performance anyway. Pakistan has got a good set of bowlers.

But truth be told, I would just reiterate what Nasser said when win predictor showed Pak was 70% likely to win. That the win predictor hadn't seen Pakistan bat probably.

You were 119-3 but the momentum was with SA and Pak have always slipped easily from such situation.

Azhar, Hafeez don't belong in your batting lineup. Not in this day and age's ODI cricket anyway.

Fakhar looked great. Babar is solid but needs to learn to rotate and not get stuck. He wont always make it big, therefore he can't afford to eat up 30-40 balls for nothing. However your top order needs fresh modern ODI batsmen. Malik, well imo he's not used properly, he should be your no.4

Naseer Hussain just said in commentary that Pakistan winning wasnt a surprise as they have the ability to beat anyone, he said the surprise was Srilanka winning and India losing the way it did.
