[VIDEO #56] Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur to remain Karachi Kings' coach - Conflict of interest?

Ok I get it now I think. We shouldn't expect any moral responsibility or sincerity from him since he will try to get as much money as he can regardless of whether he can do justice to his jobs..

Who is going to turn down a high-profile, well-paid job, would you?

Rahul Dravid quit in his IPL role due to the U19 stint but he has made his riches already so it was a lot easier for him to take the morale high ground when he don't need the money and has a net worth of nearly 15 million dollars. So I don't blame Mickey at all for accepting the job offer, make the most out of the opportunities before you in life because anything can happen and you need to look out for your loved ones.

Definitely a conflict of interest. A conflict is detected not because of what Mickey WOULD do, but what he COULD do.
It is human to have a soft corner to favor someone closer to you than someone who's not. As an instance, if I see a player working his butt off everyday - coming to practice before anybody else, always dedicated, eating well, staying late etc., you would naturally favor that player than somebody in another team who you have not seen do the same. But you can never be sure if that player does the same thing or more. All this assuming that both players have similar stats.

He's not in the wrong at all.

If anyone is in the wrong, it's the people who have given him the job at KK and/or the PCB for allowing it to happen.

Well the PCB is unprofessional; Mickey should know better. He is the wrong as he has both the positions and there is a conflict of interest. We have a lot of temptations in life and we ought to make the right choice as people. Mickey is not a 10 year old who can not decide for himself.

If it's a conflict of interest it's one that is done by the PCB and not Arthur himself.

Speaking of conflicts of interest, how about:

The Chief Selector having the same agent/manager as several of the current players in the Pakistan set-up.

Why does a chief selector need an agent?

Do these players include Ahmed Shehzad?

Can we have the name of the players saj bhai?

New chairman Ehsan Mani has said that they will look into Arthur’s conflict of interest and make things right

Clearly doing a great job in both roles this guy

He’s not been able to do justice to either jobs

Will he be relieved of one of the jobs?

Why are people hating on this guy? Let the man do his job.

He’s not doing a job that’s the problem

He can’t handle one properly but us signed up for two just to increase his earnings

It doesn't take away from his main job though. When the PSL is going on the entire Pakistan cricket team is playing in that league anyways so it's not like he's in charge of some national training camp, in fact by coaching a franchise he gets to work with some of his players from the national team and also scout new talent right in front of him. Coaching a PSL encourages his involvement in the league, if he wasn't coaching in the PSL then he'd just be on a one month vacation back in south africa or just watching the tournament on TV.

Yea because he’s so good at multitasking LOL. Being a PSL coach isn’t just about showing up for a month and making team selections. It’s months long process and there’s a whole draft also.

He’s coaching the Karachi Kings team and setting tactics for them. He’s also analyzing PSL opposition strengths and weaknesses. He’s also deciding which international and domestic players to select from draft for PSL. And with all this he’s also doing everything associated with the national cricket team.

Clearly cannot be doing justice to both.

Mickey should not have held both roles. That was wrong but it became a tricky situation for PCB. Mickey was recommended by the 2 or 3 people committee but was under contract with KK.

For a conflict of interest to exist Mickey needed to derive benefits for either KK or PCT from his capacity at both roles. He neither pushed KK players in the PCT nor pushed big PCT stars to KK.

He did benefit by getting paid by both parties but PCB offered him the role knowing he had the KK gig and to Mickey’s defense he brought this up in the negotiation process and only signed with PCB after getting their green light.

Mickey justified the KK coaching gig saying it gave him an opportunity to have a closer look at the domestic players.
