Karachi: Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has been fined for misbehaving with an umpire in a domestic match.

The incident took place during a match between Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in Departmental One Day Cup when Shehzad reacted to the umpire’s decision at the National Stadium in Karachi, the Dawn reported.

Following the reaction, match referee Anis ur Rehman reported the incident to the management, who decided to impose Rs 20,000 penalty to the HBL skipper.

SNGP later went on to win the match by six wickets after chasing a target of 194 runs with 44 balls remaining.

This guy should be banned from participating in the tournament further !! What a disgrace to the country this man is

Shehzad is an A grade joker but this is not some horrifying act.

Yes, he reacted, got rightfully fined. Matter over.

What people should be more concerned about is Hafeez's bowling which looks absolutely innocuous.

How the hell can you get out to this delivery?

the action looks pretty much the same to me. How can we judge the bowling as innocuous after watching a single delivery

looking from the video it ain't serious.. Unless he swore or said something to the umpire then maybe that goes against him.

I think a players reputation also comes into play, if hes known to be batameez from the past then it doesnt go well with future incidents

Yet another reason why this guy should never make it to the team again.

So he is thinks he is a superstar so the umpire cannot give him out?

Not a major incident but he's played at international level and should know that dissent towards umpire's decision in this sort of fashion is a punishable offence.

Because there is no life on the ball. Looks like it was just floated up there. You would see such bowling by domestic spinners. Its looped but does nothing. Plus I remember how much bite Hafeez used to have in his deliveries.

Maybe it was just a tired delivery (I have seen even good bowlers bowl such lifeless deliveries at times after a long spell) but its unlikely in this case though.

I could be wrong too.

What's more serious is him getting out to a bonafide dart.

It appears that he walked off relatively peacefully. One of those instances where the journalist and the headline are attempting to conjure a mountain out of a molehill, but thankfully the video is plain to see.

That is because Hafeez's action was banned since it was only 2-3 degrees above the legal limit. He did not need to drastically remodel his action, just correct minor flaws. This is why his action seems essentially the same through this tiny video from far away.

Actually he clocked upto 31 degrees in his extension when he was first reported.

I don't know whether he was tested after getting reported the 2nd time (not sure whether ban is automatic after second reporting or it is after testing again).

http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...-was-between-21-and-31-degrees-during-testing

The reason why the degrees is high for Hafeez is because his action (in general) doesn't looks so bad to the naked eye. But he moves his elbows real fast and if you slow mo it on Youtube, there is some massive extensions that goes on. That's why he clocked so much leaving a lot of people surprised.

Poor Shezad.

#justiceforahmed

I see he's already liking comments from his fans on twitter which criticise the umpires.

The guy hasn't learnt to bat better and hasn't even bothered fixing his attitude. I don't see Sharjeel losing his spot to Shehzad in the near future.

Really?

:)))

I love this guy.

Sorry fellas. Should have never ever supported him even for a minor incident.

Now that statement should be in the thread title.

Forget the penalty, why the hell didn't he slog that ball?

What's with the obsession of favouriting iffy tweets? Even if he stops doing just that he'll solve half his problems!

I think, Ahmed puttar thought that the ball pitched outside leg, hence tried to play fancy flick to a ball not turning or doing any thing . Once given out, tried to teach Umpire his job ...

This guy has some mental issues - these are his instant reflex action, which he has developed during his pampered days in Lalaland. Surely he is not that dumb not to know the consequences, but just can help himself. It has become a second nature to him.

But you are right on the most critical point - how can a batsman on 102 miss that ball on that wicket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

people are unreasonable on shehzy, it was pitching on leg and he didn't go over the top with umpp!

I can't stand this guy but I think he was telling the ump it pitched outside leg. Which it doesn't seem to have. Looks on leg to me.

So the fine is in order because that's dissent but it wasn't the disgraceful behaviour that we have grown accustomed to from him.

it happens...because he is a bit of a problem child, this incidence will be magnified

I think there is deliberate campaign going on against Lala and his friends. First Lala fan gets arrested in India and then Shehzad is given out wrongly and punished for asking justice.

Predict the next shezad blunder. I give it 4 months

Why? That was plumb, pitched leg, was going towards middle-off

I think it pitched just outside leg but I love the way he trudged off so slowly he's already been timed out for the next game.

Doesn't look that bad.

On another note, Hafeez's action looks better, but very lethargic.

Hopefully, he gets more zip and bite with more practice.

Still miss Hafeez's arm balls that zip on after pitching and trap a leftie right in front when he is camped on the backfoot. He has picked many wickets like that.

Now Imad does the same thing, but with righties.

Imagine Hafeez and Imad bowling together with their wicket to wicket line and 3 rpo economy. Pakistan will bring back the era of 250 runs LOL

Confused....

He protested against umpire but tweeted its wrong?

He tweeted its wrong but liked comments criticizing umpire thereby showing its right?

What is Shezzy bhai saying?

Think what he's trying to say is

"Protesting against umpire is wrong and against spirit of the game, just like using such clips to undermine my performances."

What's the big deal here? He didn't even say a word to the umpire. He shrugged his head a bit but the fine and all this mess is totally uncalled for.

Didn't seem like that big of a deal imo.

And I'm no fan of his in limitd overs cricked. He could be ok in tests perhaps.

I expected his reaction to be a lot worse then in the OP clip

Mountain out of a molehill

But Shezzy gonna be Shezzy!

Expect him to pour a bucket of oil over a small campfire

Yeah, those straighter balls were deadly to the lefties, but he is a clever guy and expect him to work something out.

His intelligence as a bowler was a key part of his success and made him that very economical bowler.

For now, I think he just needs to keep working on this action and make it second nature.

As for Pak going back to the days of 250 scores, we would need an Ajmal type bowler again, someone who was magical and took wkts at crunch moments.

As a sole incident, this wasn't much.

However, it starts to accumulate over time considering how many times he's been indisciplined. It shows a clear inability to behave.

If umpires are harsh on you because of your past, why show any indiscipline? Walk away and think about the bigger picture.

Take Amir for example. Would it make sense for him to start misbehaving in the dressing room after a 5-year ban? No, it wouldn't.

Ahmed Shahzad needs to understand he is under heavy scrutniny and any form of recklessness will lead to fines/bans along with selectors ignoring him. He doesn't realize this gives Inzi more fuel to show why keeping the opener out is the right thing to do.

What's wrong with his reaction? I don't like the guy but players should be allowed to express their displeasure if they feel that an umpire has made a blunder. It's not like he went up to the umpire and confronted him. He just showed some annoyance at the umpire's decision and there is nothing wrong with that.

So he scored 100+ but no one cares about it all people care about is a petty incidence.. this incident was hardly worth news, he didn't went over board and such incidents are part and parcel of the game.. he was fined so move on..

He himself hasn't been too smart of a guy but anyone criticising him for this instance is doing just because of pure spite personal hatred against the kid..

He is out of the team for behavioral issues. So obviously people will focus on his behavior. Someone on probation for his behavior should be 100 times more careful than those who aren't

Say someone had a short ball problem and is thrown out of the team. He scores a 100 but you can see he still has short ball problems and gets out to a short ball. Wont he still be called out? its the same case here, his behavior is the focus as thats the reason why he is out of the team. He was fined which means this incident was considered a breach

Against the spirit of the Game and rightly penalized for it. His past behavior has nothing to do with this, you shouldn't be gesturing to the umpires like this, he is an Ex-International player and should know better.

If after years of exposure to International Cricket, he hasn't learned that you CANNOT gesture to the umpire without penalty, he is not very smart and time to draw curtains on his career.

he was probably pointing out that it pitched outside leg. I think the penalty is too harsh , a warning should have been ok.

Pitching inline hitting middle/leg clearly out.

He thinks he's bigger than the game..

Brother this is not a behavioural issue this was a simple NON issue which is being made into a news just because of his background.. Unless he abused the umpire it was totally a non noteworthy issue even Dravid Sachin etc have had such issues with wrong umpiring decisions..

The only reason this issue was highlighted and you got 100+ posts on PP is because he is Ahmed Shehzad
