The guy is coming across as a sore loser and it is clear his expectations did not meet the reality of Pakistani politics on the ground.

For me, i will be a lifelong PTI and IK supporter but i never expect him to win the elections. But if IK can do whatever good he can for Pakistan without coming to power i.e. bringing the likes of Sharif, Zardari, Altaf Hussain and co to justice, bringing in massive improvements in the provinces under his control, getting massive donations from the Pakistani population for Hospital, educational and other projects in Pakistan, he will go a long way to doing us massive service for the next 100 plus years.

cant watch the video right now but never been a fan of Wajahat Khan. Comes across a bit entitled and pompous which is fine with me generally but not ok when at times you clearly do not have a clear handle on some topics. However I am sure he has some good points as do many other anchors (excluding 4-5 PML-N stooges) in their criticism of IK's modus operandi.

As for IK and PTI in general my thoughts are below.

If the political journey for some reason ends today, IK has already done enough to be immensely proud and for his contributions to be remembered and celebrated.

His achievement really is inspiring. Broke the hold of the two party mafias and time and again embarrassed them. The two parties filled with crooks may continue with their corruption merrily in the future but atleast the awaam has been given rare the satisfaction of seeing them humiliated and groveling on their knees on multiple occasions. In 2008 the Zardari clan and Sharifs probably thought that they will have their turns for an unhindered and free rein of the country with a friendly opposition each time till the next military coup. But for Sharifs especially, life has been hell and they have been put under the microscope. At times you could see that the Sharif family were rattled as they never expected to be challenged and embarrassed in this manner.

Imran Khan may have many faults and in an ideal world where every party is sincere and honest, I align more with PPP politically. However things are not so in our country unfortunately. And in this reality Imran Khan is a hope to millions of Pakistanis that even they can have a voice and participation in the political discourse of the country while seeing the rulers having to answer to them to some degree atleast.

Tbh I 2nd him on Karachi situation.

This is the time for PTI to strike while the iron is hot.
MQM is finished, PSP is struggling and Karachiites will welcome PTI with open arms if they atleast try and win Karachi over.

Atm IK and PTI seem to be in hibernation mode since the disqualification of Nawaz.

Even if PTI is not trying that hard, I think Karachiities don't have a choice but to turn to PTI. They will certainly not go back to JI. PPP has not been popular among Urdu speaking folks for a while and PML-N is probably the least favorite party in Karachi. All my relatives in Karachi are hard core PTI supporters.

No body cares but people should, anyone with little intellect would k ow environment will become the biggest threat to humanity.

But PTI wont get the votes by default. They got in 2013 and Karachites were left disappointed by PTI. 5 years on they still have very poor leadership in Karachi. Leaders who think going to other side of the city is an adventure. PTI Karachi leadership has failed to connect with masses so far

100% agree with him. I have the same feelings. Watched the video two or three times atleast. Khan is letting us down and letting the swine win.

Why did he end the rant with the words "Behave like a Khan"?

Does being a Khan gives anyone additional responsibility or additional super powers to do more than any other normal Pakistani?

From my understanding , Khan originally was a title given to head of a tribe and was first used by the Mongols. It signified extra responsibilities and sometimes taking hard unpopular decisions for the overall greater good of society. He might be hinting at that. Or maybe it's something else and I'm an idiot.

I agree with you on all what you posted, but going to the other side of the city is indeed an adventure thanks to the 8 year misrule of the city, going from A to B has become an ordeal and you have to pack lunch, dinner and next morning's breakfast if you want to go from Defense Phase 8 to New Karachi (two of the furthest points in Karachi)

No Khans are supposed to be brave and proud people and Wajahat is off the opinion that Khan is hiding away (and hence not acting like a Khan)

Yeah well I meant the same. Taking up the responsibility and all.

IK should immediately fire his political advisors, none of whom have the common sense to tell Khan to exploit the Karachi situation.

Karachi dynamics are different from the rest of the country. It has the highest number of educated, moderate, middle class people in small area. The people comprise of all races of Pakistan and generally do not vote on the basis of biradri. Generally the Karachi population will never vote for the swine and his Noon League. PPP is popular in some areas mainly amongst the Sindhi/Baluchi (Lyari) speaking areas of the city which are quite limited TBH, also their 8 year misrule has reduced their votes substantially. Jamat-e-Islami was a good option for Karachiites since they had the reputation of being clean and did development work in the city, but their over-religiosity and banning of festivities didn't go well with the majority of Karachiites who as I mentioned most of them are moderate to liberal. MQM was the natural option for most Karachiites due to their association with Urdu speaking people, their development work and raising voice for people of Karachi in the national assembly when they were being ignored by the swine and the snake. However, MQM's militant wing and Altaf Hussian were a problem and have been subsequently been eliminated, the city was ripe for MQM to capture once again but they disintegrated.

All of this means that there is huge political vacuum in Karachi and by extension in Hyderabad which PTI should have been exploiting. There is the small matter of 20 MNA seats from these two cities and PTI could easily aim to capture 10 of those if they work hard, but they aren't seem to be doing that.

its too late for to do anything now for PTI except doing seat adjustment with JI in karachi, which JI wont accept it at all.
he is not wrong. PTI is doing NOTHING in karachi from last 10 yrs or so.
mark my words, if MQM wont gt thre "by default" seats from karachi in next election ( depending if some kind of miracle happen for MQM ) thn JI is the clear winner from karachi.

according to current situation if election happens in march - 2018

JI- 10
MQM - 5
PTI- 1
PPP- 3
PML.N- 1

thats how I see 20 NA seats from karachi.

Im not sure what this guy expects.

The Prime Minister has been practically been thrown out of office due to corruption. If this happened in the UK his party would then lose badly in any upcoming elections, local or general.

Unless IK goes around banging the heads of Pakistani's , there is not much more any opposition leader can do.

Pakistani's are a lost cause.

NO offence to the PTI fans. IK brain is not working properly after panama verdict. something is wrong in the party and he is trying to ignore it.

If he thinks he will become next PM by default somehow thn hes wrong . thres no way you can be PM of pakistan by only winning from Punjab.

what other party leaders do to become PM. they go for alliances in other provinces, PTI is alien to this thing, except JI.
sorry but i dont see him as next PM after 2018 elections.

What a pathetic mindset to have. We are not in medieval times where someone with a specific surname or title is expected to do additional duties and tasks.

This is 2018 and those things should go away. Peddling out the old medieval kings/tribes head rubbish is shameful.

I also find some of the PTI' fb updates on IK and PTI cringe-worthy.

"Imran Khan entering Chairman secretariat. "

Core group meeting in progress.....

Central working group/committee (whatever it is called) .....

IK meeting some envoy, some player or a journalist etc.......

And usually two of the most nakama people on his left and right side, Naeem-ul-Haq and Ijaz Chaudhry. Who won't even have much of a value in their family meetings. :))

And that Karachi leadership is hopeless. Likes of Ali Zaidi and Imran Ismael can't speak sensibly for 2 minutes on TV.

Hard to win an honest election in Pakistan against Monopolists

This analysis more to the point. Worth reading for those who want to understand how things work at constituency and party level.

As the dust settles on the NA-154 by-election in Lodhran, south Punjab, countless arguments are being made and rhetoric ramped up about what happened.

Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is calling the result a slight set back in the long run, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is claiming the outcome to be the ultimate vindication of the stance and narrative Nawaz Sharif has built since his disqualification.

But what exactly happened in Lodhran? How did the result come about? What does it mean for both the parties and the country as Pakistan heads into general election this year?

It was a shock and completely unexpected result. Neither of the parties was ready for what transpired, but the voters in the area, and in south Punjab in general, saw this coming.

For the past two years or so, the PTI has been embroiled in a serious split at the local level. And nowhere is this split and infighting more pronounced than in south Punjab.

Every union council, tehsil and district has two competing groups of the PTI.

One group is led by Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his allies, while the other one is led by Jahangir Tareen and Ishaq Khakwani.

Qureshi’s group includes the PTI old guard as well as his own political allies from the Pakistan People’s Party days. In south Punjab, these are people who have either been in the PTI from the start or were the early adopters of it.

Tareen’s group consists of those who came in right after the 2013 election. These were the famed electables who were recruited at lightning speed right after the election, under the pretence of winning much needed seats for the PTI in 2018.

Imran Khan signed off on it because he needed candidates who could deliver results next time around, and Tareen was able to rope in these personalities with promises of skipping the ticket line and jumping to the centre.

It is important to understand why Khan relies so heavily on Tareen, but that is a discussion for another time.

Since then, both groups of the party actively started sabotaging each other. In his bid to become the chosen number two, Tareen pumped in resources for his favoured people and went after Qureshi’s group.

Tareen’s social media team, as well as the official media team of the PTI, essentially focused only on what Tareen was doing in south Punjab and slowly pushed Qureshi back.

This has been going on for over two years and, at this stage, Qureshi feels he has been marginalised. Let me illustrate this with a few examples.

Take for instance the Khanewal seat. Muhammad Khan Daha is the PML-N person from there. Against him are two groups of the PTI, fighting for the same seat.

Ahmed Hiraj is backed by Tareen and, even though he joined the party only six months ago, he was a main speaker at the party’s rally in Khanewal, while Hamid Hiraj, who is backed by Qureshi and has been in the party since 2014, was not allowed to speak even after Imran Khan himself indicated that he should.

In Jahaniya, the PML-N candidate is Haji Nazeer Jutt, the Qureshi-backed contestant is Sohail Khagga, and Tareen’s person is Murtaza Maitla.

When push comes to shove and it is time to pick a candidate, Imran Khan, historically, goes with Tareen’s candidate because of the myth that his candidates can deliver the extra votes that electables bring with them. Qureshi’s candidates are more rooted in union council and tehsil politics.

What ends up happening is this: the electable does bring in his 20,000 to 35,000 voters but, at the same time, the party loses out on old voters as well as those of the other group as its leader chooses to run as an independent candidate.

This vote splitting and infighting normally leads to the PML-N winning. This is a consistent problem that the PTI must deal with in south Punjab, which got highlighted again in the NA-154 by-election.

Pir Rafiuddin, who has shifted multiple parties and still has a decent amount of pull, was promised by Tareen and Khakwani that if the opportunity arose, he would get a shot at the NA seat. That was the commitment he was working under.

But when the time came, Tareen chose his own son over Rafiuddin and, at that point, the pir decided to go his own way, costing the PTI the votes they were hoping to rely on.

Add to that a very local issue that most people in rest of the country are not aware of: sugar cane buying.

In this whole region, from Lodhran to Bahawalpur, there are two massive sugar mills: Ashraf Sugar in Bahawalpur and Tareen’s sugar mills.

Over a period, the two have systematically built a monopoly on buying sugar cane during the crushing season. They hold off buying till the crop is about to go bad so that they can buy it at bottom prices.

They have been involved in this practice for years and local farmers who depend on the crops for livelihood have been wronged enough to know what they are doing. This resentment also played a part in this specific instance.

But this all builds up to a larger problem that the PTI is facing in south Punjab as well as in most parts of the country. The party is split down the middle and Imran Khan has no clue what to do about it.

The PTI lacks two things at this stage that the NA-154 result made amply clear. Firstly, they lack discipline and, secondly, they lack the understanding of local politics.

National rhetoric works better in cities; it does not work as well in rural or peri-urban areas, where the voters are focused on localised issues.

They do not obsessively watch TV or follow social media. For them, voting is a choice between who gets things done, what caste they are, what have they done lately, and what they will do in the future.

With regards to party discipline, many fail to understand that it is something that comes from the top. If the party leader is not willing to double down on it, it cannot be expected that everyone else will follow through.

Imran Khan must choose between Tareen and Qureshi before the general election. Nawaz Sharif, on the other hand, does not have such problems because his party does not have factions at this level.

The PML-N policy is very clear: the tanzim comes down hard on dissenters and moves swiftly to pick favourites in any region.

The PTI lacks that and Imran Khan needs to realise that for this party to be competitive, he will need to make these tough choices.

Local politics > national rhetoric

While the PML-N is calling the result a vindication of the national narrative they have created since Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification, this is about local politics.

In the aftermath of the loss, multiple PTI supporters and other anti-PML-N people bashed the voters for making a bad choice and selling out.

The fact is that this is deeply disrespectful towards these voters and democracy in general. The voters make their choices based on localised information and what is best for them.

To berate them and expect them to follow through on the national narrative is deeply delusional. Voters do not need sermons; they need action. And the PTI should be worried sick because the in-fighting and the pontification is not really helping their cause in an election year.

The reason the PML-N can hold on to its voters is because they have spent years building local voter profiles across Punjab and have figured out that what works in Lahore will not work in Bahawalpur.

Their narrative and approach change based on the region. In 2012/2013, they set up structures to have detailed in-house voter analysis to see what the priorities list was and what worked where.

The PTI has never gone down that route. That is why when it comes down to the numbers game, the PML-N has an edge because it invested in building up systems before anyone else did.

So, when we look back at NA-154, the lessons are obvious. Local politics is important, no matter what the national rhetoric is.

I was telling Eagle_Eye the other day how PTI karachi chapter is totally nikammi and nalaaiq.
Syed1 makes a good point that some of the leaders like Imran Ismail literally think that crossing the bridge is some daredevil adventure. I remember how he went to Javed Nihari once and made a big show of it as to how he has become a man of the people as a result of it lol

Hard to win an honest election in Pakistan against Monopolists

Theres only so much you can blame on those.

The people had a chance to change their country, a thief was called a thief and removed from office. Instead of rejecting the thief outright, the people are hugging the thief so he can reach for their back pockets once more.

IK is not perfect but isn't it time for people to make videos against the common man and ask why are they so stupid? He's done his bit, now it's time for the people to do theirs.

IK is to full of himself to understand Wajahat's comments. He will continue with his boring and tedious speeches giving the same tiresome examples of how great he is then cry foul after his PTI is smashed in the next elections. PTI are nothing outside KPK. As I have said previously IK will never be our PM.

Yes those boring speeches about how the Sharifs stolen billions and enriched themselves and their families. Those boring speeches about how the Sharifs and their ilk have corrupted every institution for their own gain and protection, yes those boring speeches on how good governance comes from having honest sincere leaders. What a complete ......

But he has repeated that mantra a zillion times now. We get it now, we understand how corrupt Zardari and NS are. Time to take a new direction by doing something constructive like making a proper impact outside KPK. Fact that Nawaz still denies all these allegations says it all. IK can learn a lot by listening to intellectuals like Shashi Tharoor as to how to make a proper speech.

Now it's all about how many PML N ticket holders are forced to give away their party tickets and run independently. If majority suatains Khalaee Makhlooq's harassment than no way PML N can be defeated.

So i heard a complete nobody in Multan who was supposed to be MPA candidate (Yes an unknown MPA candidate) was warned by Khalai makhlooq to return PMLN ticket :)) :)) Now i have heard everything :)

Dozens of candidates refused PMLN ticket especially in South Punjab mainly due to Sharif's suicide mission and even his loyalists are ditching him due to his daughter's idiotic behaviour and even family members have been playing games against each other.

How do you respond?

Yes sab Establishment ki saazish hai.
