It's poor technique creating unnecessary doubts. Atleast the umpires are consistent like Azhar Ali.
Why the he'll is he fielding with all that taping

Looks touch and go, but not enough evidence to over-turn the soft signal. Umpires nowadays are rubbish anyway, so doesn't come as a surprise. Getting right decisions is a lottery nowadays.

Fair decision. If the ball touches the ground, then it is not a catch. The ball clearly touched the ground.

I don't think there was conclusive evidence to overturn it. It's this soft signal rubbish that needs to go.

What can you expect when inept umpires like S. Ravi and Joel Wilson are officiating

Not enough evidence to over turn it. The commentator rightly said that it was like umpire's call in Lbw case. Should have stayed with the umpire unless it had clearly bumped. This is clear bias against Pakistan. Every marginal decision goes against Pakistan. And now these kind of decisions.

And what is this "consistent decision making" crap everyone is talking about? If you make a mistake once does that mean you will do it again just to stay consistent?

I really really hope a similar case arises when Pakistan are batting.

I don't think that's true. Umpiring standard is good these days, only DRS and technology makes them look stupid sometimes. Earlier umpires were luckier with much less scrutiny.

Coming to this decision, it has happened far too many times in recent past. About time the soft signal nonsense is eliminated and a clear cut rule is implemented for consistent decision making. We have that 3D/2D problem on the replays, so until a better technological tool comes either give out in all such instances or not out all the time. I prefer the latter because there is more chance of some part of the ball kissing the grass turf. Force slip catchers to stand more in front and take catches cleanly, so that there is no trace of suspicion.

Why do we need the soft signal when the matter is up with the 3rd umpire anyway? Didn’t look clean to me tbh

Said it after the Kohli (Perth) decision and saying it now. In Adelaide test the umpires missed a couple of dozen or so no balls despite standing a few feet away from the crease. If their eyes can't follow objects so close (that too with a well demarcated line as reference) how will they ever be able to decide these kind of catches on field? Are they blessed with eagle's eyes the moment the ball goes to the catchers? What weight should soft signal carry? Whatever I have seen their soft signal depends a lot on batsman/catcher/bowler's reaction or the team/players involved, maybe their mood and other external factors too play a role. And why is the ruling body not waking up to this joke decision making process? Gosh is cricket complicated !!!!

That looks not out, the fielder hasn't covered the ball and its clearly touching the ground.

IMO Azhar should have learned from his mistake and ensured that his fingers were beneath the ball.
I personally think it was not out but as there were some doubts they shouldnt have overturned the soft signal.
But we also need to up our game.these are simple catches.

Poor catching there. It was definitely touch the ground. This soft signal should be removed ..let the third umpire decide.
