[VIDEO] Attack on cameraman: Case registered against Nawaz Sharif's security guards

ISLAMABAD: A case has been registered against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's security guards for attacking a television cameraman on duty on Monday.

Wajid Ali, a cameraman working for private news channel Samaa TV, was filming Nawaz as he was leaving the Parliament House when his security guards attacked and injured him. Video footage available with Geo News shows the guards chasing the cameraman, who ran to save himself but was eventually overpowered and brought to the ground with kicks to his face.

In the First Information Report (FIR) filed against three of Nawaz’s guards, Wajid Ali said he was performing routine coverage of the Parliament session for his channel on Monday. As he began filming Nawaz when the former premier headed out of the Parliament, Nawaz’s chief security guard Shakoor asked two other guards to attack him, the cameraman recounted.

He tried to run away, but the two guards whose names he did not know caught up with him and tortured him. One of the guards told him he would be shot dead if he dared to come near again, Wajid Ali was quoted as saying in the FIR.

He then lost consciousness, and when he came to again, he was in hospital, the cameraman said.

The FIR has been registered against Shakoor and the other two unnamed guards.

One of the guards was caught by journalists at the site of the incident before he could escape. He was handed over to Parliament House security. Another guard managed to flee.

I understand that. The very fact that this scoundrel is not behind the bars is a tragedy. Any politician that has the habit of sucking the blood of the citizens of his country needs to be behind the bars. It's funny, I'm an Indian, yet I feel my anger towards him. Maybe because of the countless blood sucking parasites that I've seen from my own country over the years.

But this issue should not be allowed to pass by without any consequences.

In Punjab, Muslim League Nawaz has had Badmaash/Ishtihari houses, where goons/thieves/killers etc. live and await Shareefs' command to intimidate and commit violent acts against people or whoever talks against these looters' hegemony.

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif expressed regret over the assault of a private television channel cameraman and said the behaviour of his security guards had damaged his reputation.

Journalists staged a protest on the arrival of Mr Sharif in the accountability court on Tuesday.

Mr Sharif, however, went straight to the courtroom to attend the trial proceeding in the Flagship Investment reference.

During the mid-break, he met the reporters in the office of the Islamabad Bar Council and responded to their questions about the incident in which his security guards assaulted and injured cameraman Wajid Ali of Samaa TV on Monday.

“I am equally grieved as you are, deeply saddened and regret this incident.”

Mr Sharif said his security supervisor Abdul Shakoor was clearing his way and escorting him towards his vehicle on the premises of Parliament House. All of a sudden the cameraman emerged as I was getting into the vehicle. When Mr Shakoor pushed him away, the cameraman hit him back causing a minor injury to his (Mr Shakoor’s) face, he said.

“I left the Parliament House and was later informed that my security guards had beaten up the cameraman and injured him.

“Such acts are uncalled for and cannot be tolerated by any means. I will take every possible step to take the culprits to task,” he added.

However, he said the media should also adopt a mechanism of its own accountability.

Mr Sharif said he was well aware of the importance of free and fair media and was thankful to those who scribed truth despite all odds.

It is an establishment's saazish against nooras . Nawaz Sharif was actually defending his guard yesterday, he said that the cameraman attacked his guard first, with his camera . But then again, NS's convoy ran over a boy on GT road so this is nothing new for him. Its a shame that this thug is not in prison.
