Nah not better than Shadab’s.

He has a beautiful googly, wonder why he doesn’t use it anymore.

The thing is that other teams haven't picked his googly yet because he isn't a bowler. He plays cricket as a batsman and bowls part time which is why other teams haven't picked him whereas Shadab and Yasir are bowlers which is why teams put more emphasis on picking their variations in training and team meetings

I used to be a (rubbish) leg-spinner.

Bowlers like Mushtaq Ahmed or Shadab or Azhar or Anil Kumble who deliver with a vertical arm find it easy to bowl great googlies, but struggle to spin or drift their stock leg-break.

Bowlers like Shane Warne or Yasir Shah who bowl with a low arm struggle to turn a googly, but have great variety of drift and spin amounts with their leg-break.

Azhar could and probably should have been a Test leggie, which would have allowed Pakistan to select an extra quick outside Asia.

One performance on video of Azhar Ali and suddenly he is the next Shane Warne - no appreciation of the context or circumstances. Many part time bowlers have five-fers, six-fers and even seven-fers.

The onus was on Azhar Ali throughout his career to work on this aspect of his game and he didn't push forward a case. Now, based on one game, the bandwagon has firmly installed itself in his corner. Next match, he goes 0/50 and he will be forgotten faster than you can say 'fickle.'

He could always bowl a wonderful googly.
Just couldn't land the ball like needed most of the time

From the video, looks like an excellent spell. Great control and googly. Most importantly, he used the quicker one to change it up and got a wicket.

Azhar and Shadab are pretty much at the same level as bowlers. Shadab averages almost 40 against non-minnows - it won’t be hard for Azhar to be so mediocre.

He used to be a leggie up until he was 18-19 and then switched to full on batting.

Had more potential as a bowler it seems.

Azhar is better than Yasir anyway. See their List A records...

I have a better googly than Yasir Shah, and I have arthritis and am recovering from a dislocated finger.

You need to sort out your personal issues with Shadab, Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman. You will feel relaxed 🙂

Azhar Ali should have become a proper allrounder for Pakistan in ODI/Test at least.

This is very true because I am a leggie myself with a vertical arm aka the high elbow action, have every trick in the book with no control and I can't bowl the leg spinner!

It makes perfect sense that Azhar not only has better googly but also more variety then Yasir which makes him more lethal in ODI's, from the front of your hand there are only so many variations possible but in Tests your stock ball is gold
