If we was complaining about the decision, he would've reviewed immediately. Don't rely on the highlights, but watch the entire footage. 1) The snicko confirmed that the ball brushed the glove, so Roy knew he was out 2) While walking towards the umpire, he mouthed "he's f****** throwing the ball" as he bent and jerked his elbow.

It seemed quite similar to how football players tackle and then make that gesture after the other player trips so it looks like they didn't tackle. Roy was probably upset at himself for getting out like that when he was all pumped to smack a century again.

The problem I am seeing is that, there seems to be a whole bunch of bowlers coming from Pakistan with issues on their action:


- Ajmal,
- Hafeez,
- Shoib Malik,
- Hasnain,
- Juniad

Obviously the correct coaching is not being provided at the grass root level it seems. To have 5 bowlers at the international level regardless of it is part time or full time over the last decade with questionable bowling actions, indicates that the coaches in Pakistan do not know what they are doing. I suspect there are more bowlers in the Pakistani domestic circuit with this same issue. Chances are; these bowlers will get caught out if they make it to international level which will add further embarrassment to Pakistan, if proper coaching is not provided and issue rectified before their careers progresses.

I don't think Afridi is chucking, well not from the highlights anyway, I was more trying to figure out why ppl here were saying the batsmen was saying Afridi was chucking when on the highlights it doesn't indicate that's what the batsmen was doing.

Yes, and it should be a good wake up call for PCB too to keep a close eye on all the bowlers' action. After Hasnain's episode, world cricket knows that we have incompetent umpires who do not report chucking in domestic so they can have an open season against our bowlers.

What about Coaches and opponent players (who play in domestic and it is a matter of their career and future) Shouldn't they be reporting them. If umpires are incompetent.

ajmal hafeez and malik learnt how to bowl in 90s, and were exploiting lax rules created by the ICC, same as narine, ojha and harbhajan. junaid may have had a dodgy action but was never called.

hasnain got called, fair enough, that's one guy who debuted out in the last 10 years. don't see how they have anything to do with modern coaching standards in pakistan.

Roy might not be the most pleasant individual but he is a serious talent and above all, he is extremely selfless.

He is always playing for the team and you will never see him play cautiously just to protect his average or to slow down while approaching a milestone.

He can score a lot of more fifties and hundreds but he is always sacrificing himself for the team and he is still quite consistent which reflects his immense talent.

England’s World Cup 2019 dream almost crashed when he got injured and it was only back on track when he was rushed back. The innings against India and Australia in the semifinal were brutal.

I think England dropped the ball too quickly with him in Test cricket. He could have been their Sehwag.

Sure he struggled but he only got two series and that too against world class bowling in tough conditions. Sehwag made a career out of failing against top pace bowling in swinging conditions.

Roy doesn’t have classic Test technique but he has guts and confidence and abundance of talent. He can figure out a way if you give him time.

You can always put money on him compared to the likes of Burns, Sibley and Hameed who simply lack the ability.

It's a tempting thought and probably something England explore again due to lack of options, but there's two differences. Generally, a batsman's overseas failures are excused more readily than their home failures. Sehwag could at least cash in at home where it's easier facing the new ball. Whereas it's hard seeing a scenario where an English opener keeps his place despite failing in 6-7 Tests every home summer.

The other issue is we're in a more bowler friendly era than Sehwag's when occasionally you would get a flat pitch even in SENA/WI.

Apart from the SC, every Test venue now offers something for seam be it NZ, SA, WI (who also use the Dukes), and AUS who have recently spiced up their pitches and improved the Kookaburra ball. So any technical flaws are quickly exposed.

All that said, if Roy puts up some runs in County Cricket this year when supposedly conditions will be more batting friendly, I don't see why not.

Yeah I recall that series on ARY Digital - Sri Lanka 2004 though I can't remember his action.

Riaz Afridi was clean imo. His arm was straight but he really flicked his wrist quite a bit at the end.

Was a pretty good bowler and should have played more than 1 test.

Jason Roy did what he does best, scoring a quickfire 84 off just 39 deliveries in the Abu Dhabi T10 League with the help of 7 huge sixes and 6 fours.

This guy must have been missed by the England team specially in this world cup 2023.
