An explosion reportedly took place in Kabul International Stadium during Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL).

Match 22nd between Pamir Zalmi and Band-e-Amir Dragons (BEAD) was underway when the explosion was heard. Following the panic situation after the reported explosion, the match was decided on Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method, and BEAD were declared the winners.

Pakistan's cricketer Kamran Ghulam was also in action while representing BEAD

Why did PCB gave NOC to these players?

At the same time are these palyers (Mir Hamza, Asif Afridi, Iftikhar Ahmed, Kamran Ghulam) fools?

Why did they went to Afghanistan, which is in a complete mess, all these guys play in PSL and all the domestic tournaments yet they line up to be included in all these shady and high risk leagues!

Players with absolute low IQ's, had any one lost their life/limb all of them/their family would jump on the neck of PCB or the government to ask for compensation .

These guys and the one who gave them NOC owe an answer.

This is serious stuff - how are they playing such tournaments? What safeguards are there?

KABUL, July 29 (Reuters) - An explosion went off inside Kabul's main cricket stadium during a domestic league match on Friday, injuring four people, an official of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said.

"The match was going on between two teams in Shpageza League, and during the match a blast happened; four civilians in the crowd have been injured," the Chief Executive of ACB, Nassib Khan, said in a statement.

ACB staff and players were safe, he added.

A spokesman for the Kabul Commander said that the explosion was due to a grenade.

"The match stopped for a while. After clean-up of the area the match restarted," the spokesman, Khalid Zadran, told Reuters.

Cricket is a hugely popular sport in Afghanistan, with the country's national team continuing to do well on the international stage despite limited resources and instability at home. A number of Afghans are ranked among the top players in the world.

Friday is a weekly holiday in Afghanistan, and the eight-team domestic league, which has been running for the last 10 days, had attracted a sizeable audience at the stadium.

Incredible

As in incredible that Pakistan players are there when there is nothing known about security threats etc

This is one of these situations where you have to question their IQ.

Who in their right sense of mind would go to Afghanistan now to play cricket!

Those criticizing Pakistani cricketers playing in Afghanistan because of lack of security. The whole world thinks the same about playing/touring Pakistan as well. We also cannot host a series unless we promise president level security to the teams.

Pcb should had pulled them out, not rven give them noc in the first place.

Had this pakistan been hosting a series, trust me, afghanistan would had used the security issue excuse to not tour us

Are you seriously comparing the security situation in Pakistan versus Afghanistan? It's not even close.

No comparison buddy

Why would anybody with a sane mind opt to go to Afghanistan to play cricket? Baffles me.

The whole world used to think like that, but not anymore. Even we Indians don't think the same anymore.

So did ramiz raja sign the NOC , he needs to count his lucky stars no one was injured killed amongst the Pakistani players .

I'm even against Afghanistan playing or touring pakistan because afghan fans have reputation of becoming violent and attacking pakistani fans we all witnessed the ugly scenes at headingley. Then we saw what they did at dubai stadium where they forced entry .

Pak players should never be playing in Afghanistan. This is just ridiculous to be playing in a country that holds Pak responsible for everything. Besides the blast Pak players lives will generally be under threat.

Yes I know situation in Pakistan is not that bad anymore but we were in the same boat not so long ago and we needed all these exhibition matches and world xi tours to portray a nice image of our country. So we shouldn’t be looking down on Afghanistan because of security reasons. Plus even today we are still providing president level security to every team with stadiums cordoned off 5 kms each side along with multiple checking points for fans.

Incredible that this tournament is still continuing and no comment by PCB to call back their players.

Are you really comparing Pakistan's and Afghanistan's security situation?

How quickly we forget how much of a mess Pakistan was security wise. An explosion or two a day, gun attacks, kidnappings and what not.

For a foreigner to differentiate between the two countries was impossible. Even now, Pakistan is nowhere near what it used be pre 9/11. You can’t have teams traveling outside of bulletproof buses.

Mm, I remember seeing stats somewhere that the amount of incidents and deaths in Pakistan in the last few years have been the lowest since the 1980s, so I'm not sure about the pre 9/11 thing. The incidents, unlike before where they were spread arpund the country, are now only in the tribal areas and Balochistan. Also many countries travel advisories now list Pakistan as a relatively safe country (at least in Sindh and Punjab. KPK and Balochistan are still considered no go areas) on the same safety tier as India, Bangladesh, etc.

Point is whether Pakistan is safer or not, the fact is that an incident has taken place - a bomb has gone off with casualties inside the ground.

How can this tournament go on and how can the PCB/Pak Gov allow its players/citizens to still stay there?

Taliban and ISIS despise each other and have been killing each other for years now, surprised you asked as this is common knowledge.

I know that. But why attack a Cricket stadium when the match was going on?

and commonsense prevails - Thank The Lord!

Should never have gone there in the first place. Thing is we appear so desperate to play Cricket that commonsense goes out the window.

Will Afghanistan be willing to send their cricket team to Pakistan following the PCB decision to withdraw their players from Afghanistans T20 league?

Pak would go to Iraq, Palestine and Yemen to play Cricket or any other Sport such is our inferiority complex at times. This "mehman nawazi" culture we have is nauseating at most times. We over respect other countries like no other nation on earth.

Who cares? What do we stand to gain from that tour?
