[VIDEO] Fakhar Zaman: A Career ruined by Nepotism, Greed and Corruption

In the past few years he only performs vs NZ in ODIs. The selectors persist with him as he has the ability to take the game away from the opposition and not many openers in Pakistan are as aggressive as him.
But its time to move on from hi.
 
Fakhar is great in Odis.

In t20s he hasn’t done well as an opener, infact his greatest innings in t20 came at number 4 vs Aus in the semi finals of t20 world cup.

Rizwan is not the answer but Fakhar should play at 4 and Haris should open for now.
 
Fakhar has been above and beyond for Pakistan in ODI format. His T20 performances have been inconsistent & underwhelming.

However if Pakistan are to move on from him, then I would like them to pick some younger new batter at No.3, maybe Maaz Sadaqat.
 
Fakhars mental midgetary is the reason behind an unfulfilled career. When he is out of form, his body language is so poor and bad that it clearly shows he doesn't want to be there. He has a lot of scores bw 10-20 which shows he failed to convert his starts. Nor did he improve his leg side play or technique. He could have done a David Warner in test cricket but he was found wanting badly against the short ball in South Africa, the selectors should have given him a chance in subcontinent conditions. His glass body didn't help matters either.

Brother let it go. Again apologises if I have caused you issues, but at the end of the day I'm not a selector nor am I a twitter influencer with a massive following that cam influence PCB decisions.

I'm guilty of not supporting Ba/Riz which i still won't as they aren't t20 players. But you can pin other claims on me I don't mind.
 
Wonder how long before the myth that Fakhar is a T20 superstar is put to bed. Doesn’t rotate the strike, stuck on the crease with poor foot movement until he hits a few slog sixes down leg to make himself look better.
 
He needs to stop exposing his batting partners to the match up that doesn’t suit them.

If a left arm spinner is bowling, it’s Fakhar’s duty to use the angle to his advantage and take down the spinner!

He did it many times during the tri series where he fancied the wrong match up (Nabi) and was giving the one non suited to the right hander to face! That’s not smart batting and this guy is experienced enough to know this by now.

Against India, it’s his job to take down Axar if that’s what is bowled at him. Not dab for a single and let the right handers go against the spin!
 
Fakhar Zaman has a decent start here and if can stay on the wicket for another 8-10 overs, Pakistan will surely put up a decent total on board.
 
Fakhar has played more than 100+ games and is still batting like a newbie.. stuck on the crease every time... Never looked like making any improvement in his technique... Yet nobody is calling him out for this...
 
Fakhar just needs to open man. He opened in 2 games against Bangladesh earlier this year where he got a 40 odd in 1 game and then got moved to 3 and now 4.

So thats merely 2 games as an opener since 2019, and in that period hes been one of the top run getters as an (opener) in the PSL-
One of farhaan or saim have to make way.
 
The court jesters who continue to be at liberty with reality will not accept the fact that he is a poor T20 batsman and clearly inferior to both Babar and Rizwan.

It is as if it doesn’t make sense to them why he is so poor in this format and inferior to them both, so they just flatly deny it to make themselves feel better.

He is absolutely clueless in this format and #4 or #5 is the only position where you can hide him. It is funny how some people want him to open when he has already proved himself to be a failure at that number even when he was in prime which he clearly isn’t anymore.
 
Last thing we can do is drop Saim and fakhar can open with Farhan.. Saim is not doing well anyway and we don't really need him as a bowler only.. We needed him to bat well and he failed in doing so... Fakhar can move up and we can end all excuses now.

Hasan Nawaz should open. I'm done with Saim.

Also this bowling drama will end. Saim is not Axar Patel who can bowl extremely well on dead pitches. Even on semi helpful pitches saim will get bashed in the same way a washed up Mcullum bashed him for 24 runs in an over.

He is in as a batsmen and is now covering up for his failures with bowling.

Pakistan hyped him as a talent worthy of taking in the saeed anwar mantle. Not a bootleg version of Mohammad Hafeez.

And yes while Saeed Anwar is a tad bit overrated due to endlessly bashing 2nd string attacks, the attacks that he bashed were still 1000x superior to Oman, Ireland, Canada, UAE etc etc that Saim is consistently failing against.

It seems like aus, Zimbabwe and sa were purple patch series and not a sign of greatness to come.

Saim has a better shelf-life than a flavor of the month tulla like H.Nawaz who can very easily go down the Haider Ali route if he doesn’t get his act together.

He needs to realize that just because you can hit sixes it doesn’t mean you have to go after every ball.

Saim has been poor for a while and maybe the fame got to his head but the credentials are there. He is a proper batsman and no young batsman since Babar in 2016-17 has shown more potential.

You can’t drop the likes of him in a talent starved country like Pakistan. That doesn’t mean he should be hyped though.

Another problem for him right now is he has no mentorship in the team and no one to turn to. The so-called senior batsmen in the team like Agha and Fakhar are pathetic too.

He needs to play more with Babar and Rizwan, a rediscover the knack of spending time at the crease and scoring runs.

He was not his coach but any young batsman will benefit from playing alongside a proper batsman and not third class players like Farhan, Haris, Agha, Fakhar etc.

Let’s not deny the fact that Saim’s career took off when he got picked PZ after QG discarded him, and the PSL platform helped him to get selected for Pakistan where Babar moved down to #3 to accommodate him as an opener, and he was persisted with in spite of completely failing for his first 15-16 T20Is.

Fakhar is better then Babar Azam we both know this. The other 3 aren't though
 
Fakhar played 21 balls and looked to be struggling troughout his innings.
 
This is unfair to Pakistan, Bangladesh playing back to back matches as they are already 'warmed up' for this match.

Greed of Fakhar to play every match in this format knowing he is not good enough
Corruption of Naqvi to do as he pleases and completely destroy the team
 
Today should be his last match in T20Is and possibly ODIs too.

He is finished although he never had it in this format. It is just the delusion of some ignorant posters that he is a quality opener in this format.

Today was the best he can do at this stage of his career and it was clearly not enough. The days of Fakhar playing big knocks once in a blue moon are also gone.

He had a good 8 year career for Pakistan and had some big moments but now it is time to hang up the boots.

Its sad to see - FZ was a clutch player who stepped up for us.

Hope Saim can find his feet and form back otherwise we are in massive trouble.
 
What next for him? As the senior most batsman he was supposed to lead from the front. Ended with a 120 SR and made others around him push the rate.

Fifties: 6 (4 against UAE, HK & Ire)

The so-called 'big-match player' has failed to perform for Pakistan against stronger teams.
 
I know the stats are against Fakhar. To be honest stats don’t always give the full picture.

Considering the garbage we have in domestic circuit I will keep Fakhar in the white ball plan for the next year or two. He must bat at 4/5 though in T20s.

The last thing we want is to lose to minnows like Oman, UAE and Nepal.

Exactly he was looking good in the final too, just got out in a dumb manner which was a bit of shame, he had to bad another 2 or 3 overs.

I like him as opener, but I think 4 ot 5 will be fine for him as well. He can play for 1 or 2 years max.
 
As much as I think of Fakhar as a match winner and a destructive bat, I have never seen a player not improve an inch since his debut. He is still the same kind of player he was in 2017.

I kind of compare him with Yusuf Pathan, you know if he clicks he will win any game singlehandedly. However you are forever waiting for that moment. In Pak’s case they can afford to back him, in other teams, the patience runs out.

If Travis Head flops for one season. He will be back in the back off the line for Australia . on the other hand the performance against India is extending Zaman’s career. Don’t think he did much after that 2017 final anyways against India.

He was a gun odi bat because he has time to settle and once he starts seeing the ball he can be borderline unstoppable at times but you need fitness standards to field, run between wickets for 50 overs etc also, that liability needs to be factored in too.

I think he is done.

Those who say Fakhar has not done much after the CT 17 absolutely baffle me.
Fakhar has maintained at minimum a SR of 90 and average of 45 throughout his ODI career.
Including some mammoth knocks . He’s on par with rohit , Warner, de kock as openers in ODI.

His t20 career has been underwhelming but he needs to be give far more credit than some do on this forum .

Travis Head is basically what Fakhar Zaman should have become but just never elevated his game to that level

Bro you got me wrong. I said Fakhar hasn’t played well against India after CT.

However I do remember some of his knocks like the one where he almost chased down vs SA, the innings in Wt20 semis or innings against Nzl World Cup- please see the frequency between these knocks.

Obviously i understand why he gets more opportunities than others but it has to end sometime and looking at his fitness, seems like curtains

Travis Head has a better allround game than Fakhar to be honest. Travis was identified as young prodigiee a long time back by Warne when Head was staring out.

Not really. Both players have a dodgy technique but make it work due to amazing hand eye coordination.

Difference is head isnt a nervous starter like Fakhar and is just fitter overall.

Head doesn't take any pressure if he gets out early or if he scored a century
 
Funny how everyone think Fakhar's career has been ruined by everyone else. What about himself? He has been playing for Pakistan for almost 10 years and still hasn't been able to figure out how to bat on slow, low grindy wickets. His test career failed because he got exposed in South Africa against the short ball. For someone with the amount of games and chances he had, he should have become a consistent match winner. Also he has a glass body, always one fitness issue after another.

Fakhar is the only Pakistan batsman who averages over 45 with a SR of 90 plus in one days . He has 17 50s and 11 100,s in around 85 games .
That is immense consistency as a one day opener and is one of the best in this format in the last 10-15 years and are on par with the likes of Warner and sharma.
 
Pakistani players refuse to grow or play competitive domestic red ball to iron out deficiencies.

Even after Babar and Rizwan were dropped, none of them went back to the basics and played red ball cricket. They simply started vacationing and modeling for instagram and waited for other players to flop and for Pakistani collective amnesia to kick in.

This model has been followed by every Pakistani player in recent memory and unless dropped players don’t play domestic cricket and win back their spots through domestic performance, nothing will change. Players won’t grow and Pakistan cricket will continue to stagnate.

Fakhar was a gun batsmen from 2017 to 2019. I bet his stats are pretty poor from 2020 onwards, the only century i can think of is from that NZ game in 2023, he had to be dropped for poor form which tells you how inconsistent he has been in his career.
