Mohammad Nawaz has delivered a moment of brilliance that Pakistan fans will remember for a long time — a stunning hat-trick against Afghanistan that turned the game on its head. Often seen as a silent contributor in the shadows of bigger names, Nawaz rose to the occasion with a spell that showcased his calm under pressure and sharp cricketing intelligence. His three wickets in three balls not only rattled Afghanistan’s batting order but also reminded everyone of the match-winning potential he brings with both bat and ball. In a format where momentum shifts quickly, Nawaz’s hat-trick proved to be the game-changer Pakistan needed.

Should have been a regular in the team.

Don't know what management were smoking keeping him in and out.

Funny that, half the country wanted him dropped at one point. The same guys who dislike Babar and Rizwan. They wanted Imad Wasim ahead of him in LOI

Spot on. These fans will latch onto anyone when the time is right. They have their own agendas and are not truly loyal fans of the Pakistan cricket team. They spent years criticizing players who actually performed well, just waiting for them to fail and for Pakistan to fail too, so they could prove their point. That’s not support, that’s just toxic behavior.

Great performance by Nawaz and our bowling unit today. Way to go!

Nawaz had one of the worst bowling performances of all time in asia cup 2023 and wc 2023.

Do you think before you post?

That was fifty over contest.

FYI - all our bowlers got carted in WC2023.
I'm aware. But my post was to @Caved12 . He doesn't have a right to critise others for being agenda merchants when he himself is one of the biggest one's here.

Just reminding him of that fact.

Unlike Imad, who’s always being a big mouth, going around criticizing his own teammates on TV, announcing retirement, then taking it back, only to announce it again, Nawaz has quietly kept his head down, worked hard on his game, and let his performances do the talking. Hopefully, he continues on this path, keeps improving, and has a long and successful career representing Pakistan.

Mohammad Nawaz at the post-match presentation:

"To be honest, the plan was very simple. We knew the pitch was difficult for batting, and at the halfway stage we felt we had enough runs on the board. The key was disciplined bowling, which we executed well.

When I bowled my first two balls, I saw there was some turn, so I understood the pace I needed on this surface. I just wanted to keep the stumps and pads in play.

I’m feeling very good, in a nice rhythm. I try to keep things simple and execute in the middle.

With the bat, against their world-class spinners, my focus was to take my time early and then play my strokes. We were targeting 140-150, and we managed to get that."

UAE + poor batsmen of spin specialist.

We saw his mettle in the T20 World Cup in Australia.

I don't see anyone who is better than him playing for us at #7 with SLA bowling.
I am not against playing him in conditions that work for him, but let’s not think that he is some reborn player and someone who has greatly improved. He is still the same just playing in conditions that suit him.

Considering the other options right now, he probably deserves to play anyway. Shadab’s bowling is awful even on spin friendly tracks. He would probably have been tonked by Afghanistan today on the same pitch.

Yes, which is why dropping him for Shadab / Imad did not make sense previously.

He would have also been very handy in those slow US pitches during world cup.

Well deserved!

Was harshly dropped from T20I format and yet he made an outstanding comeback.
You are right except that he was not harshly (unfairly) dropped. Pakistan absolutely need a spinning all rounder and the other ones have ran out of rope now. What you want is for dropped players to improve their game and force a return. It’s what makes the team strong. So many players are lost because they get dropped and moan on social media or to anybody who listens.

Good for Nawaz for fighting back with bar and ball.

Good come back by Nawaz. He is very useful in Asian conditions. I think that on onslaught by Kholi in the 2022 T20 world cup knocked his confidence for a while. With the next T20 world cup being in Asia, he deserves a start in the 11.
