Dropped it, picks it up , then does his pose, its deffo not out for me

Hard to tell if he drops it or lets the ball go after catching to celebrate?

lol i think he covered it up very quickly. But the leg umpire was also watching and he didn't say anything aswell.

Blatant cheating. Good to know Hasan is just an another Shehzad.

Honestly the video looks suspicious. However, if it was as blatant as it looks in the videos one of the two umpires would have picked it up. Specially the umpire at square leg who had a clear view of the Hassan

Tough to say but the non-striker was complaining?

Yup the video defo doesn't look good for Hassan, however it's hard to say if that was the case why the square leg umpire didn't jump in.

What I do love is Shaheen going over to the non striker to explain what Hassan was doing :))

To me it looks like he just threw it after taking it. He was in a hurry to do his celebration. I don't think Hasan is that desperate for a club-level wicket.

Even Hassan was laughing but its upto the umpire and the batsman who got out to not leave the field.

Yes definitely can be the case and I agree that its not a wicket he would be that desperate to get.

The umpires gave it out. SO IT'S OUT. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Dangerous celebration:

In terms of injury
And dropping caught and bowleds
:)

When bowlers appeal for caught behind and LBW ..... when they know it is not out, is it called cheating? If not, then why this is being questioned as cheating?

In case of LBW/caught-behind, umpire can make a mistake but in this case... Umpire should have decided if the ball stayed in Hassan Ali's hands long enough for the batsman to be out.

Clearly he intentionally let the ball go when he went down to load his celebration.

Clean as! OUT!

Looks a bit dodgy but it looks like he caught it and immediately dropped it when he went into his pose.

The umpires would have seen if he dropped it so i think that was clean.

it most likely would be a not out in a proper game for not showing full possession of the ball.

Rule: The act of making the catch shall start from the time when a fielder first handles the ball and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control both over the ball and over his own movement.

I think he dropped it.Not very clear though.

Shaheen :)))

Lol he dropped it and then covered it to with his celebration.

This team is gonna get pummeled at the World Cup

I don’t think he dropped it. There's a natural reaction a person gives when he drops a catch like that and for Hasan to drop the catch and immediately do his celebration without hesitation would seem improbable.

Can't tell but if he did claim it unfairly and intentionally, this would be extremely poor on him considering the level and stakes of the match. A List A practice match of only preparatory value.

That is a dropped catch. However, I'm impressed by his presence of mind to cover it so fast. Seriously impressively fast thinking.

More than a dropped catch its outright cheating to continue celebrating after he dropped it.

Pakistan fans should rejoice at this video, if Hasan Ali wants a club wicket that badly just imagine how seriously he'll take the World Cup

The lack of common sense in this thread is astounding!

If he had dropped the catch, there would be at least a hint of panic or an attempt to grab it on second attempt. There was absolutely no reaction and he went straight for his celebration after letting the ball go.

Secondly, it is so common for bowlers to release the ball immediately after a straightforward caught and bowled. That is exactly what happened here. It was a dolly and he just didn't hold on to it long enough to make it clear for all the angles.

If anyone thinks he would cheat in a practice game that is not even televised, that person needs to get his head checked.

You shouldn't even be able to question that, that was clearly dropped. I have no idea what the umpires were doing when they gave that out. Hasan should've called back the batsman. Shows what type of character Hasan Ali is to let that slide. And even Sarfraz should've called back the batsman, I remember once I saw a video of the Sri Lankans calling back Symonds for a mistake, they should learn from them.

There will be a few more cameras and replays at the World Cup so if he is foolish enough to try this, he will get punished.

If the club level wicket didn't matter much to cheat over then why do such an exaggerated celebration? I know that's his trade mark for each and every wicket but for a tour game??

Looks bad at this speed, the video seems rushed for some reason (as if sped up to make his reaction time look suspicious)...but, if it was a drop, it is not as if he was the authority to make a judgement on the catch; umpires were not sleeping by any chance!

That was clearly dropped. A catch only constitutes as one when the person is in full control of the ball. Just because the umpires missed it in a game where probably there aren't many cameras or replays does not make it right. Watch the Gibbs catch of Steve Waugh in the 1999 WC. That was much more cleaner than this one and that was declared not out.

Pakistan quick Hasan Ali claims dubious catch against Kent

Pakistan’s Hasan Ali stretched the phrase “complete control” to its absolute limit in a practice match against Kent.

Ali picked up two wickets in Pakistan’s 100-run win, the first of which saw him claim the most dubious of catches off his own bowling.

Having procured a top edge from Alex Blake, the quick settled himself underneath what should have been a simple catch. He momentarily held onto the ball on its way down, before it continued its course to the ground.

The 24-year-old appeared to attempt to regather the ball with his right hand, failed to do so, and then went into his trademark celebration anyway — bringing both hands to his chest, curling his torso down and then bursting out into a star shape.

Unaware what had happened behind him, Blake continued his march off the field for 89. While his batting partner, Ollie Robinson, protested the catch, he was unable to convince the umpires to overturn the dismissal.

Under Law 33.3 of the ICC’s one-day international playing conditions a catch is only completed once “a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his own movement”.

It’s not the first time Ali’s celebration has been a talking point. Last year he tweaked his shoulder against Zimbabwe as he flung his arms out.

Earlier, Imad Wasim hit an unbeaten century. The all-rounder’s 117 not out, his career-best List A score, featured 13 fours and four sixes and was the cornerstone of Pakistan’s commanding 7-358

Fakhar Zaman, a star of the Pakistan side that won the 2017 Champions Trophy in England, made 76 and Haris Sohail 75.

Kent then collapsed to 258 all out with more than five overs remaining in reply, left-arm spinner Imran Qayyum taking four for 45 from his maximum 10 overs.

Pakistan continue their tour with county matches against Northamptonshire and Leicestershire on Monday and Wednesday respectively.

They then play England in a one-off Twenty20 international in Cardiff a week on Sunday before facing the hosts of the 50-over World Cup -- which starts next month -- in the first of five one-day internationals at The Oval on May 8.

It's just for fun

It is to entertain the crowd...plus i think he was too desperate to celebrate which prompted him to throw the ball away as quich as possible. Otherwise it was a clean catch.

I think the catch was clean but hasan got too excited and just dropped the ball straightaway

Blatant cheating, but expected from a show pony like Hasan. Ever since he achieved stardom in 2017, his attitude has been terrible and it is always a pleasure to see him get smashed.

Although the results were humiliating, I particularly enjoyed the spanking Rohit and Dhawan gave him in the Asia Cup.

I have no shame in admitting that I enjoy Hasan, Shadab and Faheem failing although I always hope that it doesn’t cost Pakistan the game.

He was celebrating immediately after taking it. The umps had the best view on the ground and gave it out for a reason.

Stupid from Hasan, but no foul play

Umpires must have not even been bothered with what was going on in the middle.

Hassan celebrating like he does was even looking stupid than ever.

It was not caught hence the quick celebratory pose.

I think he just let the ball go after touching it. It's not out by rule, but I think there was no foul play.

No one would celebrate like this if you drop a sitter like this.

Ok, OK, I get it, including ones calling him names, calling his actions vile etc. etc.

I mean, you must be right because right after 'Cheating' (in their words), he was able to lift the WC trophy because this practice game and that specific wicket was in Pak's way from winning the cup!

To me it looks like he just threw it after taking it. He was in a hurry to do his celebration. I don't think Hasan is that desperate for a club-level wicket.
This. He wanted to celebrate in his signature style badly so he threw the ball as quickly as possible so he can celebrate. But this shows he is a showman and it is hurting his game. The umpire could have easily give the batsman not out and Hasan would have only himself to blame if that had happened. He needs to get his act together, somebody should talked to him about this and tell him plainly that this behaviour is not acceptable

Look at the torque and force generated on the bend down. That’s his body’s fight or flight response system to reacting to take the catch after he messed it up the first time.

He then gobbled it the second time and then resorted to his celebration to cover it up.

Go look at his celebration and never does he use such torque and momentum on the way down.

It’s clear as day he is trying to re gather it but fails.

Dirty cheating.

Did anyone mention that batsman was giving our bowlers a phainta?

My word, they’re kids bro let them have some fun, so what if they laugh and celebrate on the pitch? Be miserable by yourself don’t hope bad for someone else who’s trying their best.

It’s alright I’m sure you’ll find some Indian cricketers to keep you happy.

Hasan is good but his 2017 success got to his head, while Shadab and Faheem were not good enough to begin with.

All three, especially the former two, need to keep their attitude in check. They are both greatly responsible for our pathetic performance in 2018 and about time they deliver.

What is wrong with their attitude, I never see them involved in any controversies, attitude because they laugh and celebrate on the pitch? How about the attitudes of international starts Pandya and Rahul producing vile comments on national TV?

Not out but it's a friendly match and it was up to the umpires to make the decision. Not a big issue and not cheating as claimed by some.

Rahul and Pandya need to keep their attitude in check as well. Pointing at other players will not improve the attitude of Hasan and Shadab etc.

Hasan is actually worse - his actions on the border were embarrassing and he was rightly trolled by Indian fans after the Asia Cup humiliation.

Shadab is a show-off on the field who is more interested in looking good in the cameras than working on his cricket. He has not improved an inch in the last two years, in fact, he has regressed.

Shadab’s bowling hasn’t improved but his batting definitely has, he almost has as many ODI 50’s as your favourite Pandya. Shadab’s fielding has also improved a lot and has staked his claim for the top 5 fielders in current international cricket.

So for Hasan doing his celebration at the border with all the fans cheering him on, which he did ONCE it means he has attitude problems? Pandya parties, says vile things. India’s skipper swears at his own nations players on live TV, tells fans to leave their countries for not supporting them. But Hasan and Shadab have attitude problems?

Diving around like a dolphin in the field means nothing when you are not delivering in other facets. Even the greatest team of all time cannot carry a specialist fielder.

Shadab is a worthless ODI batsman with an embarrassing SR of 65. He is nothing more than a glorified tail-ender.

He cannot slog in the death overs and when he comes in early, he does tuk tuk. The 2 in 20 balls in the must-win game against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup was the hallmark of his ODI batting.

His batting is okay in Tests but definitely not in ODIs and T20s. He is not good enough to bat in the top 6 and he is to slow to make an impact in the lower-order.

Pandya is 100 times the batsman Shadab ever will be. He is a frightening power-hitter who can turn a game upside down if he gets going.

On a good day, he can give you a 70 in 30 balls. Shadab has a better chance of giving you a 30 in 70 balls.

I was putting Shadabs batting statistics into perspective not comparing them, if you really wanted to compare fake all rounders compare Faheem and Hardik. Hardik can’t bowl Faheem can’t bat.

You didn’t reply to what I said about Hasan and Shadab’s “attitude problems” in comparison with Pandya and Kohlis.

Sorry forgot to add. Only immature fans approves of Hasan’s celebration at the border. If Dhawan does his gabbar celebration to mock Pakistanis at the border, will we appreciate it? Of course not.

Once again, the behavior of Indian players is not a justification. No one called Kohli a saint. He has matured a lot in recent years but needs to tone down the abusive language. As far as partying is concerned, that is personal and I don’t care about it.

As long as a player is performing, working hard on his fitness and doesn’t act like an idiot on the field, he can party as much as he wants.

I did. I just forgot to add that bit before I clicked on post.

No, you cannot put their respective batting statistics into perspective. Pandya has done far more and he has a very high ceiling with the bat.

And no, he is not a fake all-rounder. His stronger suit is his batting, but he is a decent bowler. Faheem though is okay with the ball but awful with the bat.

Both Faheem and Shadab are fake all-rounders but Pandya isn’t.

Hardik isn't a fake all-rounder. Only the green tinted hype brigade (quite apparent from your username), like yourself would say such a thing.

Yeah sure, make your judgments based on a side angle that doesn't show the whole picture.

I will judge him for blatant cheating in a warm-up match against a second string domestic side. That's why I find it revolting.

people on pakpassion need to get a life. if the catch is taken or not, it is for the umpires to make a decision.

I will always remember moin khan gloriously faking a catch of ganguly and fooling the umpire into giving it out, in an india-pakistan test match in 1998.

There is also Ricky Ponting, claiming a catch that clearly didnt carry to him. It was given out without consultation with the third umpire. India vs Australia 2008.

This in comparison, is absolutely nothing. just some people on pakpassion, who nurture personal grudges with Hassan Ali, who look for any excuse to make some noise.

I think, he dropped it - his reflex action was to search for the ball immediately after losing it from his grasp. Cricket rule tells a catch is completed when the fielder is in complete control & steady - otherwise, these days on boundary line catches, fielders won't have bothered to throw the ball up, step out of boundary and come back to complete the catch.

But, there was an umpire, and it's more of a practice game (though I came to know that it's List A status, means that wicket will go in his credit), he probably did it in a light heart; and no one bothered much (though the non striker seems to be upset). Nothing much to look into it - but in International game, I am sure that dismissal (catch) would have been over-ruled by TV umpire and Hasan would have been visiting Match Referee's room.
