High Performance camp for 10 players commences at NCA

Lahore, 17 December 2019:

A high performance camp commenced today at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore and will continue for three weeks.

The ten players has reported and started work today under the supervision of PCB Director Medical and Sports Sciences Dr Sohail Saleem.

The players in the camp will undergo one on one sessions with the trainers and physios of the academy.

The following players will work in the camp:

1. Ahsan Ali
2. Akif Javed
3. Bilawal Bhatti
4. Hasan Ali
5. Imad Wasim
6. Mohammad Hasnain
7. Rahat Ali
8. Rizwan Hussain
9. Usman Qadir
10. Zafar Gohar

The decision to include Central Punjab’s Faheem Ashraf in the camp will be made after the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy that will be played between Central Punjab and Northern from 27-31 December at National Stadium in Karachi.

No Zeeshan Malik, Saud Shakeel, Ammad Butt and Sajid Khan.

Rahat and Bilawal are failures so why waste time on them? PCB is a joke

Perhaps others will correct me but I think sadaf Hussain should be here. We do need a tall seamer not just skiddy ones.

Good to see Rizwan Hussain, Akif Javed and Ahsan Ali in the camp.

So Hassan Ali will continue his recovery in the camp under Dr Sohail?

Perhaps others will correct me but I think sadaf Hussain should be here. We do need a tall seamer not just skiddy ones.

Averaged 50 with the ball this season, struggled quite a bit. Though he got better as the season progressed. 2-3 seasons will give us a better idea of which bowlers were just pure bullies with the poor balls vs. those who are actually skilled.

Hahaha PCB mafia in trouble, they're struggling to find bowlers who can carry the well-connected passengers in the batting lineup.

THis is the actual crisis under Misbah, they don't have bowlers to cover for the batsmen mafia to make Pakistan team competitive.

Rahat Ali and Bilawal Bhatti show the mount of desperation and degradation in the Pakistan team management.

They have sneaked in well-connected and unfit Usman Qadir ther as well.

LEft arms offies and 2 TTF bowlers, and the genius Wasim Khan has wind up departmental cricket as well which used to sustain some of the resources.
Tough times ahead

You know if I’m honest I’ve never seen him bowl. And chances are that he may not even be as good as some people say.

What I was thinking is that this is a high performance camp to develop players. But the names on there bhatti and Rahat have been tried and discarded. I’m struggling to see names of tall medium pacers in the list of top bowlers this season. So if there are spaces we should be developing medium bowlers. We already have skiddy shorter fast bowlers but a Lanky tight medium bowler is very useful for English conditions this summer.

Now that we’ve had a taste of kookaburra ball on slower pitches it’s brought home the message that our fast bowling is pretty scarce.

Replace Bhatti, Rahat and Qadir with Ehsan Adil, Sameen Gul and Nauman Ali/Sajid Khan and this list would be brilliant

PCB is wasting resources on Rahat and Bhatti.Sameen ,Adil and Butt are better than theses two failures.

Agreed.

There are a few passengers in there unfortunately. PCB investing in Usman Qadir is a bad call.

The words Rahat Ali, Usman Qadir and Bilawal Bhatti, and "High Performance" doesn't go together.

Oh dear.

Best of luck to the players.

I keep hearing this term high performance, from PCB.

What exactly do they mean by high performance!

Good to see ahsan ali, akif javed, rizwan Hussain.

Could have included
Zeeshan ashraf,zeeshan malik,saud shakil,ehsan ali,ammad butt,

Some positives, but where is Sameen Gul. Sameen Gul is probably thr best fast bowling talent in Pakistan after Naseem and Shaheen, and Sameen has been brilliant in domestic. Is he injured?

Bhatti and Rahat. Are you kidding me? High performance... alhamdulillah

I might be wrong but Dr Sohail Saleem doesn't seem to be a qualified doctor for the position he is in.

Latest video from PCB about whats happening at the camp.

When will Misbah recall Anwar Ali. Knowing Misbah, he might fire Azhar after this test and appoint himself captain and specialist No 7 batsman :misbah

Ask Haris Sohail, Hassan Ali and others.

Again, I might be wrong and hope I am but as per my google search Dr Saleem just did MBBS and a diploma and not a proper post graduation specialization or degree in sports medicine or related fields like orthopedic. Diploma from any European country including UK is a joke, you pay the money and you will buy it, even from USA some "universities" willing to sell you a "diploma" . I am sure other boards have properly trained physicians . Most of the time its a board, which comprises of an orthopedic surgeon with specialization in sports medicine and some other including a cardiologist and a physical rehab specialist.

God sooooo many players missed out: Mohammad Mohsin, Hasan Mohsin, Sameen Gul and other talented young players.

going by this video there is a massive supply gap for properly trained physios and strength coaches in pak.

Hi Moghul, I am a Cricket fanatic that has a lot of contacts in the Cricket field with my son playing professional cricket it helps. I did find your post concerning and I absolutely agree that the doctors working with the cricketers should be qualified so I looked into your accusations. I can confirm that luckily you are wrong.
Dr Sohail Saleem obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in sports medicine from University of New South Wales Australia during a 2 and half year period. He also has a Certificate of rehabilitation from National Sports Medicine Institute UK. He completed team physician course with American college of sports medicine and was also a member of ICC Medical Committee twice. This has all been confirmed by PCB. Checks have been conducted and all his qualifications listed in this post are 100% genuine. You may contact the relevant departments to confirm this. At present PCB medical board headed by Dr Sohail Saleem also comprises of a doctor from England and Australia who has a regular input on medical issues.
A polite request that I think it’s wrong to discredit anyone without evidence so I suggest we write with empathy in future and only accuse what we have evidence off. If you speak to the cricketers they all speak very highly of Dr Sohail Saleem. On the comment made by Saj to ask Hasan Ali I can confirm he is happy with his treatment at present under the supervision of Dr Sohail and is recovering well. We should not underestimate the PCB. They do through investigations before appointing the right person for the job. There are a lot of jealous people out there that would spread fake rumours. We wouldn’t like that if someone did that about us. Hope a few points have been cleared for future reference

The Ones PCB chose :

1. Ahsan Ali
2. Akif Javed
3. Bilawal Bhatti
4. Hasan Ali
5. Imad Wasim
6. Mohammad Hasnain
7. Rahat Ali
8. Rizwan Hussain
9. Usman Qadir
10. Zafar Gohar

I would have picked 25 not 10 and they would have been :

1. Ahsan Ali
2. Zeeshan Malik
3. Haider Ali
4. Rizwan Hussain
5. Imran Butt
6. Arif Khan
7. Abdullah Shafique

rashid1, Thanks for the infos,
First of all, as I'm in this profession, I know "Diploma" done from anywhere in the world is not considered to be a recognized qualification and it considered to be a fake qualification. Qualifications like FCPS, FRCP, FRCS or American Boards are real qualification, Has Dr. Saleem done any of those and that too as an orthopedic-sports surgeon ? Also a rehab doctor ( with proper qualification, not just "diploma " ) can be an important member of team but cannot be the head of the board as their training is limited to the rehabilitation they are not best qualified to initial diagnose and treat the condition. I'm still wondering why was Shadab sent to England to receive a treatment for "hepatitis " in England and not in Pakistan , did not require a complicated surgery , why was he sent to England by DR Saleemi. I'm sure he did not know the condition and even did not know whom to consult. As Hepatitis is so common in Pakistan, some of the best doctors in this field are in Pakistan and there was no need to send Shadab to Engalnd but I'm sure you need to be better qualified than having a "diploma" to know that. World Health organization published a landmark guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis and in which experts from 18 countries participated , was lead by a PAKISTANI physician. Overall many cricketers in the past including Harris Sohail has been misdiagnosed and mistreated by your "diploma" holder, not a surprise.

Oh my God. What do they want from Bolwal Bhatti, and Rahat ali? I do not think Imad, Usman, and hasan ali need to take part.

Interesting you raise Shadab's visit to England back in April. To put your mind at ease I met Shadab during his visit, I don't want to go into too much detail but Shadab's visit was necessary, he was very happy about his urgent treatment in the UK which was proven to be a success, as shortly after the treatment he was selected to join the team before the world cup. Please don't lose sleep over his visit :)

Anyway good to talk to you, I take your comments on board but believe it's best to leave the PCB to their decisions as I am sure they have the best interest for all the players. I can assure you all the players are happy under the supervision of Doctor Sohail Saleem. Don't be surprised if you hear Dr Sohail Saleem was not only selected for his qualifications and experience but also for the opinions of all the players.

On the comment made by Saj to ask Hasan Ali I can confirm he is happy with his treatment at present under the supervision of Dr Sohail and is recovering well.

There are players who have had problems with the PCB medics and the treatment they have had from them and that is why they have had to look elsewhere.

In addition those players have secretly had to seek advice from medics overseas due to the ineffectiveness of PCB staff.

Also, players are now being told not to seek professional advice from overseas experts, and if they do, they will face consequences, which is a rather worrying situation given the PCB's medics recent track record.

Players are "happy" because they are not doctors and they think they're getting treatment from a qualified doctor. Now a days every doctor's qualification and board certification are available for everyone to see on the net. If you go on www.abim.org and put any doctor's name , you will be able to see his/her qualification ( or lack of it ) in USA. There is similar website in UK. Please do me a favor and put a link to see the real qualification of Dr Saleem for me to see. I tired , I could not find any.
