How CPEC is affecting our ads as well :)

Yes, clearly the OPEC will have these types of effects but the commercial is flawed. First off all, they tried to model Pakistan as if it was a developed country. Secondly, did Shan forget that muslims cannot eat food cooked by atheists? Nice try, but the whole commercial is flawed.

Where does it say that?

Where does it say that?

In Islam, at least according to Ayatullah Khamenei and Sistani, anyone not Jewish, Christian or Muslim is constantly in a najis state; therefore, while cooking, their hands would obviously come in contact with whatever is being cooked thus making the food najis.

Honestly I have never heard of that. Is there any authentic source for this?

No one is obliged to follow such rulings, especially when they give no good evidence.

next time we can ask the advertisers to make sure they have lots of garbage and rickshaws in the background, with tutti puthi garian and houses to give it that authentic flavour.. i mean who wants to sell anything??

I did not know about that? God, you guys are making Islam into such an extremist religion. Honestly, its not like that. We lived a small Irish town for a couple of months during my childhood owing to my mother's job and we had lovely, atheist neighbors who would always send us food and we would eat it. Because its not haram and because hurting someone's feelings is.

Never heard of this among sunni muslims. But shia muslims practice this thing.

This might not be true for other people, but based on my experience I've seen Shia Muslims practicing a more stricter form of Islam than Sunni Muslims.

world cup captain clearly she is living in Pakistan so all the food will be halal anyway. And Shan trying to spread inter faith and inter cultural relations and a positive message. But then people drop extremist comments like this.

Just because someone is an atheist doesnt make them unclean. As long as they have washed their hands with soap they are as clean as anyone else.

the less said about Khomeini the better.

I will try and get back to you guys on this ASAP.

All I'm saying is be realistic. This is certainly not how 99% of Pakistan is.

I live in the U.S. and I get where you're coming from. Like Syed1 stated above, shias just make everything more stricter.

As I stated above to someone else, just be realistic in commercials. Don't make Pakistan the City on the Hill when it clearly isn't.

joke going around is that our chinese neighbors made the perfect biryani in first attempt and our lahori citizens cant do it after 70 years

Shia's in Pakistan don't do so. But can't say too much about Shia's from the middle east.

The environment wasn't unrealistic. Due to the nature of her husband's job, they are living in a posh area of Lahore. Secondly, not many people belonging to the upper class/upper-middle class will say no to eating food with a non-Muslim on religious grounds. Some might turn it down due to security concerns, but that's a different issue.

The two unrealistic aspects of this ad were the fact that a Chinese woman made a wonderful biryani at first attempt, and also, a biryani made with ready-made packaged masala doesn't look half as good as the one prepared with fresh spices.

Beautiful ad though. Very high quality stuff. Reminds me of the Google ad.
