[VIDEO] "Ian Chappell can see Australia's performance here for himself" : Sarfaraz Ahmed

Ungracious comments but Pak too have beaten Aussies in all but one tests in last two series, not just in this T20 series. This comment about Aus C team is rubbish many times we have traveled to Aus with our top players missing through injury or bans like their players. So it was also our C team that got beaten last series. There is no doubt at home Aus have been a far superior team past 20 years but there is a good reason for that, Pak play very few tests abroad in unfamiliar conditions. So inviting Pak less will not help competitiveness between the two teams, but hinder it .

It’s mostly bitter Indian fans and a couple of pretenders that will always have their excuses ready no matter how well Pakistan does.

Pakistan beat Aussies comfortably 2-0 in 2014 with a full strength team but you know what the explanation then was ? Winning the toss.

The dogs can keep barking but the caravan will move on.

I agree that not inviting Pak or any other team is just stupidity. They themselves are horrible overseas, specially in Asia.

Chappel's statement is moronic. Captain of the national team doing verbal diarrrhea over it is also moronic.

That statement was not made by CA or any of its cricketers.

Although I liked how Misbah handled the stupid statement from Chappell graciously, and that was right at that time. Things need to be handled well. If one is spewing venom, you need to show class.

But Ian Chappell is a serial idiot. He has always been speaking ill of Pakistan. He was unable to handle Afridi's signature wicket celebration against Australia in WC11 and said something like "His team mates would be irked by his celebrations and someone needs to put him in his place"

Then he comes in and says Australia should stop inviting Pakistan even when Pakistan gave Australia a big scare in their hunting ground at Gabba.

It's about time someone puts Chappel in his place. He is biased, arrogant and rude. Actually, it's not just him, the whole Chappel family seems to such germs. Greg had his manipulation attempts during his Indian coaching tenure, Trevor had his moment with that under arm delivery and Ian seems to take the cake every now and then.

If someone deserves to be called a bewaqoof gadha, it is Chappell who needs to make sure when he opens his mouth, mature comments come out not garbage and idiocy. The Australian Mohsin khan/Abdul Qadir. Not taking anything away from him being a very good player for Australia, but that's where my respect for Ian ends.

Excellent post.

POTW.

Sarfaraz should have worded his statement better, but Chappel has been giving moronic statements for ages. Even his articles for various websites have shown a strong bias against Pakistan.

Interesting as he is undermining his own team performance by saying Australia can play in Asia. Its rare for a captain to do that.

Ian Chappell used to be very pro Pakistan especially during Imran Khan's time. However the 2010 Spot Fixing episode totally eroded his feelings for the team.

Not that, trust me. I have heard IC more than most here in PP - a genuine jingoist, but a great admirer of who is worth. He respected Imran at highest level along with Viv & Lillee, admirerd Javed, Zaheer, Mazid, Asif ... because they commanded that respect & admiration.

He is a lousy mouth - talks his mind, but understands his game better than almost everyone is history. He opened his loose mouth too wide regarding Misbah’s team, but wasn’t far away from truth - someone more intelligent could have sugar quoted that, keeping the meaning intact. This same guy, was instrumental to hire several PAK players for WSC on be half of Kerry Packer. And, during his time, he facilitated Imran to play few games for NSW (when he was coming back from injury). From mid 70s to late 90s, PAK had been the most frequent visitor in AUS (you can check the numbers, not necessarily for Test tours), and in most games IC was commenting (or playing against). He is the worst looser, yet was the first man to shake hands with Imran after 1976 SCG Test (must have been disgudting for him).

You should think yourself why this same guy is saying such now. (And why this small fry MMHS sounds so bitter in PP - even this morning was “put in place” in favour of Mohsin Hasan Khan).

Harsh truth is, IC wasn’t wrong at all, though he shouldn’t have said such; while Sarfraz should have the maturity to avoid such questions being an active player, and this jurno should have known the difference between T20 & Test. Chappel said that after unconditional surrender in Test series (what Aussies did with Yasir in 2nd innings of SCG was beyond insult. Add a 9-0 in previous tour & 12-0 Test run in previous 20 years), here PAK Captain has entertained us after winning a mighty T20 series 3-0. ChappelI is a paid commi by Channel 9, Sarfraz is Captain who represents PAK - I am sure Aussies will remember this.

Pakistan is getting too much criticism for their results against Australia in Australia, the 1999-2000 team and the 2004-2005 team were up against the greatest Australian team in history, and even then the 1999 team was very competitive in that Sydney test match which we lost due to Gilchrist and Langer.

In the 2009-10 tour, Pakistan was extremely competitive in that Sydney test match which we eventually lost due to Hussey and Yousaf's pathetic captaincy.

In 2016-17, we were very close in the Brisbane test match and in Melbourne for the first few days when Azhar Ali scored that double century.

Yes on paper it looks bad with the whitewashes but what else can a team do if they are touring that country after every 6 years, this means that on every tour the players are going to be new and touring Australia for the first time. Not to mention low quality practice matches with inferior opposition. Contrast this to India who get to tour every 3 years and that means they have a higher chance of playing players who have experience on those conditions.

In the UAE, Pakistan has trashed Australia in 2014 and 2018 whereas we struggled against the invincible Australian team from 1998 to 2002 in Pakistan and the UAE. And Yes Pakistan is perhaps the only sub-continent team to go to Australia and beat Australia in Australia against the invincible side of 2002 2-1.

So really the criticism against Pakistan should not be over blown. We have not been given a level playing field.

IND won WS final in 2008 I believe.

Do you think Aussies are my brother in law (could have been - schooled there before teens & must have promised few .....)? Or do you think I didn’t watch those games or don’t understand cricket?

PAK is beyond pathetic in AUS, trust me, beyond pathetic because they are mentally scared to face Aussies there - and Aussies will eat soft souls alive without salt, peeper or sauce. I can also give many valid reasons (have wrote many times that Poms & Indians tour once in 4 years & almost every year for A team), but does it justify that SCG show? That 72 at WACA? There are basic minimums for an established cricket team on Test tour (otherwise what’s the difference with BD or AFG, Test cricket is a status, not privilege) - dropping half a dozen on day one, losing 8/9 wickets in a session, bowling absolute trash after 1st lunch of a Test .... these are beyond explanation or excuse. Aussies are losing in Asia - but they give a fight; PAK runs away from contest even before the game had started - don’t you think someone like Ian Chappel can see these?

I believe, more than taunting PAK, he was disgusted with the state of PAK cricket to say such in live air, because he had seen different PAK & guy is ruthless competitor. Here, Sarfraz (& few bhakts in PP) are thinking Sarfraz has settled some score!!!!

You are just spitting venom against Pakistan. The Aussies tour the subcontinent atleast 4-5 times in one year while Pakistan tours Australia once in every 6 years and then gets very minimal low quality practice games. People should not expect Pakistan to beat Australia in Australia in these circumstances. Our worst performances in Australia came against the Invincible Australian team of 1998 to 2007.

Pretty rich for a Bengali calling Pakistan beyond Pathetic in Australia given that his own country doesn't even get invited there at all.

Does Sarfraz even know this is Australia's C team?

What C team? The team had Finch, Lynn, Maxwell and other Gun T-20 Big Bash players. The only guy missing was Warner but even he has done squat in the UAE.

Stupid comments and setting yourself up for disaster when you tour Australia next time.

Also everybody knows this Australian team is probably the weakest in their entire cricketing history. Ian Chappell was also wrong when he put out those ridiculous comments for Pakistan but Pakistan used to go to Australia with their best team that had 3-4 match winners and come back with a whitewash. This has happened for the past 20 years.

Sarfraz better win a Test match now in Australia to back up his comments.

Win?????
Let Pakistan draw a test first in Australia
Got whitewashed in 4 series in a row

Some people hate him so much that even if he breathes they have a problem with it.

Makes me wonder what is the reason for so much hate, sure his own performances haven't been spectacular but he chips in often enough and more importantly the graph of the side is upward bound and the overall team's performance is markedly better than the 4-5 years prior to him of the dark era of Misbah and Azhar. Heck they came up with the logic that he plays his friends but more youngsters have debuted under him than under any captain I can remember from the top of my head. They have a problem with his shouting and screaming but fail to see when he runs all the way from behind the stumps to long off and is the first man there to congratulate a fielder for taking an awesome catch, or they fail to see how just yesterday after Hasan dropped a catch and looked visibily distraught he shouted out to him "koi baat nahi koi baat nahi"

Makes me think that the hate for Sarfaraz is due to non-cricketing reasons.

Who told them to send a C team?

and it wasnt really C team either.Whatever it was.Having whatever messiahs in their lineup, the result would not have been much different cuz their supposed messiah 11 lost last time in UAE by huge margins.

i think This B/C/D.....Z team talks are getting really boring
One or two key player misses a match or a tournament and if that team loses it becomes a B/C/D/Z team

Seems like cricket fans have forgotten that any player may miss out on some matches because of injury or some other reasons
Australia played with their best XI they could field and were thrashed comprehensively by Pakistan and Pakistan proved that they Deserve the no.1 spot in the t20i rankings

I have observed that Aus/Eng fans always try to belittle the good performances of Asian players by scrutinising them and whenever they lose they come up with some excuses or another like bilateral Odis/t20is are meaningless or in tests Asian pitches are doctored one etc

And some our fans who try to act fair on everything support such claims and since we both neighbours are filled with hate for each other which we take to cricket and try to put down each other instead of enjoying the humiliation Australia has been receiving last couple of years. In Odis their Win % is worse than some of the associates

Aussie experts like Ian Chappel Have been maligning our teams for years so we need someone to put them in their place

Ian Chappell deserved such reply

By just reading the comments, I got the impression that Sarfraz had abused Chappell or something. I thought his response was quite measured tbh. He said that the team's performance wasn't that bad in Australia (he may be wrong, but that in no way is inappropriate or confrontational) and every team struggles away from home. Australia's performance is for everyone to see.

I really don't see an issue here.

A lot of teams are hammered in Aus, India were destroyed 4-0, England have been whitewashed too a couple of times 5-0. Bangladesh who some think is the second best team in Asia now will most likely lose by an innings every test match in Aus.

Ian Chappel does give credit where it's due but the comment was in bad taste, similarly Sarfraz should have been more diplomatic as there are more important things to stress over for the captain of Pakistan.

Umm...

Aus drew a Test in the UAE, with their C side.

Pakistan has NEVER EVER won a Test series in Australia, in its entire history. They have won in Asia/PAk.

This clueless joke of a 'captain' does not even need to answer that lame question. What is he, a gali mohallay waala random kid?

Or present captain of the national team?

Which captain goes on a verbal war diarrhea with a non-cricketer? Chappell as a TV person can say anything.

You do not respond to such questions or comments.

our players need some training

problem with australia in last couple of years is :

They send IPL 11 everywhere. Where are their Shield/FC cricket players who used to grind day in and day out??
