Jaiswal is still a better batter then Abdullah.

My issue is overhype. He is not the greatest left hander to ever exist. Infact he isn't even close to saeed Anwar as of yet.

He is > Travis Head yes. Head is basically Australian Fakhar Zaman and is mostly impact based with a bit of dodgy luck.

But Jaiswal is nothing special. And in his mid 30's he will be no body. He has zero power. Relies purely on technique and timing and by the time his eye hand coordination deteriorates, jaiswal will ve a done case.

Infact Dhawan is a better batsmen then Jaiswal but unfortunately dhawan wasnt handled properly and bcci marketed him as a icc impact wonderhouse
 
Young cricketers are normally great fielders. Surprised to see Jaiswal dropping so many catches.

Former India player Mohammad Kaif, known for his excellent fielding in his heyday, explained the reason why Yashasvi Jaiswal may have dropped crucial catches during the India vs England 1st Test at Leeds. According to Kaif, the strap which Jaiswal has put around his hands may have a role to play in his dismal catching against the hosts.

“Why is Yashasvi Jaiswal dropping catches? We are practicing with Duke’s ball, and when we get hurt, we put a strap. In such a situation, the fingers are stuck and there is no free movement. You can’t hold onto the catch because the strap becomes a sponge. The ball bounces off it, so that’s the drawback. The natural connection with the ball shouldn’t be lost,” he said on his YouTube channel.

India notched up a subpar fielding record against England at Leeds which went a long way in the visitors losing the match by 5 wickets as England chased down 371 runs.

Pant is genuinely talented though. I can see him becoming a solid test keeper. But even hes being overrated. Pant > Gilly 😭😭
 
Catchwal really needs to work on his fielding... only batting wont help u keep ur place into the plaing 11 for sure
 
Jaiswal is probably the most talented young cricketer in the world right now after Sam Ayub. His numbers are slightly better than Saim right now but I think Saim has more potential. Either way, they both have a very high ceiling.
 
Jaiswal literally threw the game away with his fielding. India would have won the game had he fielded better.

I've stated this time and time again. He is a good batsmen but no need to over do it. So far every indian believes that

A) They produced the greatest bowler of all time.
B) They currently have access to the greatest Young talent current and all time

Apart from the obvious trolling thread , kp also dropped 6 catches during 2005 ashes.he took his first catch in pak tour.so jaiswal has to try to redeem himself and make sure his batting/one of the main spurce of batting unit does not suffer.Meanwhile he should work on his secondary skills much better .

Bhai , Its about a newbie player who have dropped all the chances in an important ashes series. kp was later remembered for the epic 5th test century to regain the ashes.Am saying Jaiswal should accept the failures or his mistakes and take it in positive stride.With out acceptance of mistakes , there is no salvation.

This thread will track how he will improve (or not) and should be looked in that light. Ignore the trolling etc. You are better than that.
 
One of if not the worst fielders of all time. If India is serious about Jaiswal, they need to give him the Muhammad Irfan treatment, where he was fielded in positions that were easy and it was possible to hide him in the field.

Issue is despite my criticism, I only criticise him as a HYPE Machine. He is still a solid batsmen so I understand why they want to utilise Jaiswal.

But he will bumble alot of games. Imagine if in 2024 he was the one who was tasked with catching the final catch that may have gone for a 6 if not taken 🤦🏻🤦🏻.

Massive respect to both Rohit and Kohli for keeping Jaiswal out. One of the few times where it paid off to be selfish.

He should be fielding at square leg, hardly anyone gets caught at square leg position.
 
Also @mominsaigol you are trying very hard to establish that you were right about Jaiswal after the first test, you weren’t, no one was talking about his fielding when they called him a great talent, we talked about his batting and he ended up scoring a century, its not like he got two golden duck, lol.

He scored a century and proved you wrong. In th rest of the series too he will keep doing that, don’t worry.

One more thing, Sam Konstas didn’t score against windies and you rate him highly, no ones coming after you for that, but I an sure he is nowhere near Jaiswal and will never be.
 
Jaiswal opens for every Test team right now even if he were to drop 3-4 catches every innings. He is a special player.

Whether you like it or not, the general sentiment all over social media is that jaiswal scored a crappie molasses century on a flat pitch and was humbled by English batters showcasing how batting is done on their pitch.

He then shelled 3 catches which could have led to india generating a 50-70 run lead. After that the onus was on him to score and increase the lead but he failed and proceeded to drop 2 more catches next session.

Currently this is indian propaganda.

If Bumrah succeeds

a) Greatest bowler of all time.

if Bumrah fails

a) Poor Bumrah, no support, has to carry everyone, we should feel sorry for him.

if Jaiswal succeeds

a) Greatest left hander of all time

No, its not.
Apart from a couple of posters no one calls Bumrah better than Mcgrath and Marshall.
Its your fault for getting triggered because of those couple of posters.

Secondly, Jaiswal scored a century just like how the English batters did, his century was fine and came in the most difficult part of the whole game, there is absolutely nothing wrong with his knock and there is no reason to say that English batters showed him how to play lol.

Him dropping catches in totally unrelated to him being a an amazing batting talent.

I really don’t want to get into an argument where you and I point out how he succeeds or fails after every innings, as of now you are losing the debate because Jaiswal acerages above 50 as an opener and there is no one else in the world who averages more as an opener. When his average drops down below 45 you can start asking questions but right now he is the dawg.

Indians mocking Pakistani fielding yet they happened to produce a cricketer whos worse then any Pakistani fielders in existence 🤣🤣.

I believe even Muhammad irfan and Nasir Jamshed were better lol
 
If only Salman Butt had access to Jaiswal and not Asif/Amir during the spot fixing scandal. He wouldn't need to fix, just situate jaiswal in those areas, Problem solved :vk2
 
I find it embarrassing that some posters are fixating on his fielding just because he gave them a shutup call with the bat.

He is a superstar batsman in the making and unless something unforeseen doesn’t happen, he will finish as one of India’s greatest all-format openers.

Yes he needs to improve his catching, but it is not something alarming. Not every player will be a good fielder. Ultimately, your primarily skills (batting/bowling) will always be more important.

If India replace him with a lesser batsman who takes flying catches they will be worse off.

Few years ago, Pakistan picked Imran Butt for a few Tests. He would catch everything but Pakistan moved on from him because he wasn’t prolific with the bat.

Jaiswal is a generational talent and India cannot afford to remove him from the team because his catching is below par.

Also, these forced comparisons with Konstas need to end. Konstas will never be 50% the player Jaiswal is. He simply doesn’t have the same ability.

His only competition when it comes to batsmen around his age bracket are of course Gill, Brook and Rachin. Of course a few others might emerge in the next couple of years but as of today, this is it.

I wouldn’t put Saim in this league, at least not yet. He is very good but not at their level but I will definitely put him above Konstas.

Yashasvi Jaiswal might have gone on to score a century in the first Test against England at Leeds, but the management isn't quite happy with the player's overall performance. Though there's no denying that Jaiswal is among the finest all-format batters in the game, his fielding remains a work in progress. Against England in the Test series opener, Jaiswal dropped as many as four catches, giving the hosts priceless lifelines to keep themselves in the game. Ahead of the second Test, however, India head coach Gautam Gambhir is trying to ensure such mistakes don't happen again.

India's 5-wicket defeat in the first Test was primarily due to poor fielding in the game, with Jaiswal being the biggest culprit of all. Ahead of the second Test in Edgbaston, Gambhir spent a lengthy session with Jaiswal, teaching him about close catches.

However, a report in RevSportz claimed that the coach didn't look happy with Jaiswal at all. The head coach also reportedly had an animated chat with the opening batter about his catching. But, it looks all but set that Jaiswal's fielding role in the team is set to be demoted.

India's assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate spoke tothe media on Monday, hinting that Jaiswal would be removed from the slip-catching role.

"We always want depth in the catching department. In England, you're always going to have four catchers at some stage in the game. Yashasvi has been a very good catcher for us," he said.

"There's also an argument for the short leg being a very important position, particularly if we are going to play two spinners. And we want to pick more guys in that position.

"And maybe just give Yashasvi a break from catching in the gully for a little while. His hands are quite sore. We want to get his confidence back up," the Dutchman added.

With India hoping to bounce back in the series by winning the second game, Jaiswal's performance, both with the bat and in the field, is set to play a crucial role.
