Mohammad Ilyas is a fast bowler from Peshawar who made his debut this year in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy & Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup.

So far in 4 First Class matches he has taken 29 wickets at an average of 16.00.

In 6 List-A matches he has taken 10 wickets at an average of 25.50.

He has also been picked up in emerging category in PSL for the The Sixth Team.

Not being too critical to the young man, first observation is that he is too short for fast bowling career - from the clip, I don't think he is more than 5'6", but I might be wrong.

But, what is clearly evident from the clip is, all his 10 wickets are from in coming (to right hander) balls. He is bowling with a slingy, chest on action, and releasing wide of the crease, which is helping him to bring the ball in (or out for lefties) - this can work against poor domestic batsmen or tail-enders, but at higher level, it's not sufficient unless he is 155K sort of pacer, who can sneak through the defense. I in fact won't have given couple of LBWs in this clip, bowling from such wide of wicket.

In history of the game, only one bowler I can recall surviving long with in coming balls being his stock delivery was John Snow - but, he was much taller and he was definitely in fast category. Imran, for an average medium pacer with similar skill set at the start, became world class only when he added pace and leg-cutter to his armory (According to IC, he was as fast as DK in that 1976 SCG Test).

Wish him good luck, as he has a PSL contract, he can improve; but I would have loved to see few others else in PSL than this guy.

Ye to umpire ki tango ke beech main se dod ke bowl karta hai. Too short really.
