Yesterday's Tri-Nation series match at Karachi's National Stadium saw some questionable behavior from Pakistan's players, particularly during Temba Bavuma's dismissal. The over-the-top celebration by Kamran Ghulam and his teammates as Bavuma walked back to the pavilion was not only unsportsmanlike but also led to a stern warning from the on-field umpires to captain Mohammad Rizwan.

This incident raises questions about the conduct expected from the team under his leadership. Let's hope this is a wake-up call for more respectful and sportsmanlike behavior on the cricket field.

I think we have seen how motivated and aggressive pak looked vs south africa will they show the same aggression approach vs nz and in champions trophy?

More than aggression they need to perform well, will take a 110SR century with a sajda celebration than a 25 ball 35 followed a fist pump and Kohli like scream

There's a fine line between aggression and acting like an idiot. Pak fielders were going overboard after that Bavuma dismissal.

So if Rizwan and co are acting wholesome we have a problem, if they do this we have a problem, what do you guys want?

Cricket is a boring sport already, aggression makes it fun.

One thing i noticed was that, as soon as Pakistan started to be aggressors yerterday our body language improved, our fielding was doing well. We made some very good stops and Shaheen also bowled a very good spell.

Aggression is not suppose to be logical. If it pumps up our team so why not. We chased 350 yesterday, but still nitpicking kay jee our player wasnt acting as good boys

Why are Rizwan and his domestic friends ala SNGPL grads acting like villagers herding goats in KPK Hills.

Surely the team management has to act here and guide them about on field antics, or has Aqib instructed them to chukk k rakh
Shaheen doesnt play for sngpl, saud shakil is not from sngpl.

Kpk hills? Is this some racist post against pathans?

As a neutral, i am glad to see fire and passion in a knock out match between two good cricket nations. This is the seriousness i want to see from the players. It should mean this much to them.

I hope no fee is paying deducted for this. Cricket shouldn’t become a soft sport.

Give me some aggression!

Nothing wrong in it, SA did the same on recent tour, the time Pakistan did and we have seen how motivated all players were,

Loved it. SA players are arrogant, bitter and whiny beyond belief.

As for 'backing it up with performances'. We have, in ODIs, atleast against them. Emphatically too.

Shaheen was just trying to make the batsman lose focus, but Kamran G always goes over the top with his celebrations and has had unnecessary confrontations before as well. The incident however re-energised the unit, so no harm if done carefully with tact.

Very poor behaviour. It almost felt time Pakistani cricketers were looking to pick up a fight where as SA players were cool. Cricket is suppose to be a gentleman's game and these kind of gimmicks has no place.

It's high time Asian players got aggressive and gave it back. Maybe your timid boys like KL and Gill can learn from us.

They picked a fight with the guy who doesn’t fight, or is the youngster.

Let’s see them picking fights when the real Gs are back. Where was this aggression when Klaasen was carving them in and out like a Christmas Turkey?

Three Pakistan players fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct

Pakistan players Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam have been fined for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during their tri-nation series match against South Africa in Karachi on Wednesday.

Shaheen was fined 25 per cent of his match fee after he was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match.”

The incident occurred in the 28th over of South Africa’s innings, when Shaheen deliberately got in the way of batter Matthew Breetzke as he ran a single, causing an inappropriate physical contact that also resulted in an argument.

Saud and substitute fielder Kamran were fined 10 per cent each of their match fee as they celebrated too close to batter Temba Bavuma after he was run out in the 29th over of South Africa’s innings.

Saud and Kamran were found to have breached Article 2.5 of the Code, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary records of the three players, all of whom did not have a previous offence in a 24-month period.

All three admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by David Boon of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for formal hearings.

On-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Michael Gough, third umpire Richard Illingworth and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi levelled the charges.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Yes, very poor behavior. They should be given a timeout. All of them should be made to stand in a corner for 15 minutes each.

Thank God the players have more spine than some of the fans here. It is exactly this kind of timid softie attitude that nobodies like Mulder can chuck the ball at our top batsman, Babar, and also give him a few choice of words... totally unprovoked. Opposition knows that this nation has become soft and won't ever give it back. These kind of antics were never tolerated a couple of decades ago when we had players with auras and personalities.

If there is any team that we need to give it back to, it is SA. They have been way too arrogant, cocky and in our faces lately.

Posters here crying about going overboard with celebrations or unnecessary confrontations make me sick. Maybe they do deserve the team filled with the ever smiling, hugging, goody two shoes players. It's a shame all these posters are only the new gen fans and haven't seen PCT in its prime.

Yaar what's the point of watching cricket without aggression?

You want to be aggressive

Well you have your big chance against India next Sunday.

This nation spoiled your right to host a complete CT after using your presence in their own tournament in 2023. Go on then 5ft dons! Show us how tough you are against this lot!
They also had their chance yesterday and availed it. What are you on about?

Saffers have been way more aggressive with us than Indians - totally appropriate for Pak to react.

How many Indian players were charged for celebrating the way they did after Bumrah got Konstas?

Stop this whataboutery. It was Sam Konstas who started the fight from runner up when he had no business to poke his nose. Bumrah was not the instigator and just responded to him by picking the wicket of Khwaja.
Do the laws of cricket have caveats regarding instigation and reaction?

Last time any Pak player shown aggression towards an Indian player is Sarfraz Ahmed to Kedar Jadhav in CT 2017 finals. Now this present team believes in bhai chaara and giving baby shower gifts whenever they meet Indian players.

Also worth mentioning, Sohail Khan tried to show some aggression and pick up fight against Kohli in 2015 WC match but got a scolding from Misbah.

:salute

Why though? They don't have any IPL contracts to lose. They should go all out against us.

While speaking in an interview, Shaheen Shah Afridi accepted that he had teased Matthew Breetzke to unsettle him and take his wicket:

“For the first time, Matthew didn’t say anything. I kept teasing him to get a wicket. Whatever happened on the field stayed there.”

“After the match, Matthew and I met, shook hands, and became good friends.”

pathetic aggression against Bavuma of all people

Did you post anything similar when Mulder hit Babar with the ball and also gave him a few choice words?

If you didn't, then don't bother with this either.

Pakistan is not India, they don't bring much financially to the ICC and world cricket. Unlike Kohli who can get away with multiple fist bumps and abusive slurs to opponents after they get dismissed, Pakistani players will not enjoy any such luck, privillege and will see their wallets pinched, let alone being banned as the De-merit points add up.

Not sure they were blocking his way. Just prasidh krishna went close. But he didn't have to stop from walkign like Bavuma had to. Bumrah just stared him from a distance. Not even close. Bavuma literally stopped.

Poor stuff

May be Bavuma said something and deserved the disrespect.

There are always two sides of s story. Pakistan players are the most well behaved in the world!

Am totally fine with it. Need passion or else its boring. But got to back it up or else it looks foolish. But yeah good to see this Pak aggro. Am all for it ! (y)

I hope they show the same aggro against Ind in CT. As said above, enough of the bhaichaara and lovely pats from Pak players when they play against Ind. Want to see this same aggression. Want them to sledge and banter Ind players. Shaheen charging and bumping into Kohli - now that'll be box office material ! A fair warning to someone like Abrar - if Rohit falls on him , then be prepared for a crushed rib injury or something LOL !:D

The law does not have anything related to blocking a players way. The law, by which Saud And KG were charged, states “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter".

The above very much applies to several Indian players as well, regardless of if they got in the way or who initiated it.

I’m just saying that the application seems biased. ICC is not as critical of Indian players are as it is of others - and for obvious reasons.

It is subject to interpretation. Blocking the way can be interpreted as initiation of contact. Also there may varying degrees of this act. Not all aggressive gesture may be looked the same way
Kohli did get penalized. This one was definitely excessive.

Aggression is good on the field but behaving like Kohli is unacceptable. Pakistani players were rightly penalized for this pathetic act.

This is very true, show it there too. Babar and Rizwan see Kohli and are star struck, lining up to get a smile out of him

Absolutely aggression is good but you gotta back it up. Kohlis behavior would have been fine if he was backing it up with his performances like root or Smith. But he is covering up his inadequacies and lack of contribution to the team to garner eyeballs and comes across as a clownish monkey.

And dont agree that pak players should have been penalized. Aggression is part of the game - makes it compelling to watch. Different point of view i guess

Against India they will become fanboys :ROFLMAO:

They need to remember this entire match and where its being hosted is a huge sign of disrespect.

I'm very happy with this behaviour it's been overdue for 15 years. Please keep it against all teams. Fed up of timid Pakistan in cricket and everything else.

That’s how they view your batsmen.

Act tough in front of this lot and see how you get a reaction.

Who was the Pakistani bowler that got buried here? My guess is Shaheen Afridi?

But is it really aggression once the wicket is taken? Seemed like an over the top celebration.

I would love for the team to try and unsettle batters that are smashing them

With this kind of aggressive mood, it will be a treat to watch India-Pakistan clash but I think Pakistan will be more careful now as they have been fined and next time they could get a ban also

Glad they were fined, this is not aggression , just a poor and bazaari behavior , particularly Kamran should be ashamed of himself , no performance , dropped and showing " aggression" like he was Kohli at his peak.

Kamran was very poor and that 4ft saud should just keep his head down.

He averages 20 in odis and acts like he is Virat kohli. He should be dropped for his pathetic behaviour and awful performance.

Had they done it against klassen or Jansen it would be fine but bavuma is a gentleman who should be respected.

Blocking the way can be interpreted as initiation of contact, and so can celebrating in your face.

Both celebrations were 100% excessive and provoking a response from the opposition

Both deserve to be punished but we didn’t see that.

Isn’t Babar a gentleman? How was Mulders act against him any better than what these guys did?

Perfect to time to show aggression now. Final of the tri series, a below par score, early wicket. Boys need to turn it up
