This is my first thread about Sachin in years. Here he speaks about his and his team's dreams of winning the World Cup (2011).

Starts at 2:23

P.S. Don't think I've annoyed anyone here, have I? If our beloved Pakistani brothers can still relish their 1992 World Cup victory (with all due respect), can't a I post a thread on our 2011 World Cup victory?

Yeah if only the DRS system hadn't been tampered with in Mohali, he probably would not have been making this speech.

Its pretty clear, something dodgy went on in the final rounds of that tournament. So yes celebrate it all you want, but remember it wasn't a clean win.

But he said that before the World Cup. BTW, wasn't it one of the most well known chuckers bowling to him? So the DRS overruled the decision, and that makes the DRS biased? What's even more hilarious is how Pak fans were crying over the 'evil' BCCI for not implementing the DRS. And when the DRS was indeed implemented, it suddenly became biased against Pak? :))

Such a shame that that the entire cricketing world is against Pak cricket. They are the only poor, innocent victims.

Oh its 2010, my bad.

Ajmal wasn't a chucker back then.

There were some talks going around for his retirement during 2007 but Sachin decided to continue as he was eyeing for his dream of winning the WC. It was a really great decision to continue playing international cricket. He had a brilliant peak between 2007-2010 in test cricket and also went on to win the World Cup in 2011.

As for AB, he won ICC odi cricketer of that year and then won the ICC odi cricketer of the year in 2014 and 2015 too. Also, a very talented musician.

This guy is a master of all trades.

Too bad he was left crying on the field in 2015 when Grant Elliot Clobbered Dale Steyn for a 6 in the Semi Final to win it for New Zealand.

Coming from a Pakistan fan like yourself what kind of post is this?!

Tendulkar!

If the gentleman had quietly retired after winning the World Cup, which was his dream, he would have finished with a Test Average of 56.94 and his fans wouldnt have had to struggle so much to defend his status as the greatest batsman of all time after Bradman.

He was way too selfish to retire at 99 centuries and when he got that after a year of painstaking struggle he was then way too selfish to retire before 200 Tests. Should have been kicked out.

Errrr, the better team eventually won that day. SA had some misfortune due to rain but they bowled and field poorly and that costed them the match.

Glad he won a WC. Deserved it. But he let down his team in the 11’ WC. Two centuries in a loss and a draw. Couldn’t muster a century despite 5,5,5,5,5, chances and choked once again in the final. But a great ODI player who should have rode on into the sunset and not lingered around for another year.

I merely posted this video because it was a dream not just for Sachin but all Indian cricketers of his time as well as for us fans. It was a dream come true for all of us.

How exactly was that his fault? Against SA, India lost around 9 wickets for 29 odd runs. He demolished the SA attack black and blue. Same against England, he belted their attack.

Bhai Saab, what good is a century if it doesn’t help your team win? How many times has KW and or Joe Root been criticised for scoring runs that don’t help their team get over the line. I agree Sachin was O.M.A for the first half of his career but there was no excuse for the second half. It’s a miracle he scored that 85 in the SF, never seemed comfortable.

Bhai saab, we're speaking of his efforts, not his team's result. What was he supposed to do in those couple of matches? That's what I asked. Did he score at a slow pace? No, he demolished the bowlers. What could have Ponting done in the QF of that WC against India when his team lost despite him scoring a century?

Chanceless innings are rare.. every great innings has one or two life's in it. End of the day, does the team won the world cup or not matters..No if's and but's in cricket.

A forum is built on its and but’s. People overlook Healy dropping Lara because Lara took that amateur WI batting line up over the line.

India won 2011 WC ...No level of scrutiny will take that away from India and :srt

It’s a fine line, I agree. The player is not to be blamed and made scapegoat but the responsibility falls on his shoulders. You have so many bad days in cricket that when you have a good day, you make it a great one. No one had more good days than SRT and yet, for some peculiar reason, he couldn’t get the job done. I rememeber that magnificent 175 against AUS at the fag end of his career. Yet India lost by a very close margin when he got OUT towards the end when a few runs were left. Ponting was criticized for the 05’ Ashes loss despite saving the team single-handingley from 3-1 at Old Traffird with a 156 batting for seven hours. But it ended in a draw and it’s not regarded higher by those cricket experts who rank Inzi’s 50 against AUS to secure a 1 wicket win. It’s simple. Sachin is the greatest batsman of all time but not a batsman made for all situations, least of all, the grand stage.

Pak players incompetency gave life that's not :srt problem right.

It’s not. But it speaks volumes of SRT to not score a century despite PAK fielders butterfingers. Add to that he was dropped FIVE times. Waugh was dropped ONCE by Gibbs and changed AUS’ fortunes for a decade to come in WC.

Did you watch the Ind vs SA match? He gave the team a brilliant start and by the time got out India looked well on it's way to score at least 330. His job was done by then. Do you expect an opener to play 50 overs in every match? How the heck was it his fault that last 9 batsman couldn't even muster 30 runs?

People still upset over dropped catches :))
Move on fellas. There's more to life than cricket.

:srt has given enough hammering to most of Pak bowlers from young age. Every dog as it's day, late stages he could not convert one innings to 100 u bring that up and forgot all his earlier phainty given to Pak team, How convenient :ashwin

There's lots of pure innings out there not marred by luck.
why should dropped catches only be considered as luck? Y cant be bad balls bowled by bowler? So you mean to say there are great innings where batsmen never faced a bad ball in his complete course of his innings?

Bowler created the mistake and the fielder failed.

Batsman made the mistake and should have been punished.

Fakhar's streaky innings in the final and Sachin's semi-final knock should simply not be rated with the more flawless innings of history

It was a good victory, one of the best moments in Indian cricket in my opinion. Though it may be controversial it was a dream come true. And I'm personally happy for all Indian fans.

similarly if a quality bowler commits a mistake by bowling some rubbish delivery and batsmen punishes the same then should we consider that as luck? Y only fielders mistakes especially dropped catches are considered as luck but not rubbish balls frm bowler?

Thanks bro ... Rare good comment on this thread :19:

Haha so dropped catches is luck now? Fielding and catching is part of the game it’s born kuck but Pakistanis being bad at cricket for dropping those catches.. Luck is when rain interrupts the game or your mail bowler gets injured etc..

Bad fielding, droppped catches, poor running between wickets is not LUCK but poor at being cricket and something which is in your control and can be improved..

Cricket is not just batting and bowling you know.
