[VIDEO] Sameer Minhas: Pakistan's rising all-rounder

I do question iq of pakistani franchises.
He went to islu for mere 1.9cr.
He is a future prospect
He ll be backbone of your team
U23 player sorted

But teams went for other batsman instead of him
Franchises in PSL do very little scouting and are always on the lookout for 'names' that they can milk for sponsorships and endorsements. You can tell that just by looking at Naseem Shah being the most expensive player at the auction averaging 40 with the ball last season.

Islamabad United has always been the only franchise that focuses on data and does some scouting for local players. I'm glad Sameer is with IU because this is one franchise that will focus on his development and not make him take a backseat to supposed 'names' who have done absolutely nothing of note in years.

Lack of cricket scouts basically. Even islamabad didnt pull of a blinder. Remember, Islamabad is the same team that let Sahibzada Farhan go.

Should be the opening batsman with Farhan in T20

Kid is far too good to let rot in domestic cricket
Add Maaz and that has the makings of a decent top 3- much better than what we have had thus far but they need a lomg run and backing.

So far, the PSL has helped in 1 aspect

They couldn't let go shadab because they have invested him to be captain for many seasons.
They could have told farhan to go to auction and that they ll go all gun blazing for him
But they paid almost 9 cr for faheem of all people.

Farhan
Sameer
Maaz
Hassan
Kamran/Anyone else
Nafay/Haseebullah

This could be our batting lineup going fwd

Pak xi:

Farhan
Maaz
Sameer
Saim
Hassan
Nafay/Haseeb
Arafat
Ahmad Daniyal/Abbas
Abrar
Usman/Ali Raza/Ubaid
Salman Mirza

With farhan yousaf in line.
Back this squad and give them time. Make Arafat or Saim the captain.

We can actually play another batsman with maaz, saim, hasan, Arafat as bowlers

And let this lot play t20s.

Backup players:
Kamran
Azam
Abdullah Fazal
Usama Mir
Faisal/Sufyan
Haris

A few of the younger batsmen need to aim to be good test players too...... Its important they aim to be 45-50 averaging test players with a good strike rate only way Pakistan will improve in test cricket.

Its a very over rated franchise. People assume that they use some sort of data.

But what they really do is watxh a game on tv, get impressed by someone and pick them.

Shamyl has no future in my opinion both shazaib and sameer have done v well at under 19s so if they keep working hard they will defo succeed. Maaz will be hit and miss just like Fakhar was but he can bowl too so who knows like saim ayub he mite be fine. Only issue is they are ALL openers
Think it's the other way round. Shamyl potentially has a future. Shahzaib is not good enough

Looks like a very good player… but needs at least one year of domestic cricket before he should be selected for the national team… preferably two

SHould not rush him... He has solid technique and can hit sixes also.. Let him play few domestic seasons atleast.
I really don't see what he can learn from playing lesser bowlers in white ball cricket

Usually this line is used for players who are succeeding in domestics before coming to international, but he is succeeding against high quality international bowlers.

Playing lower quality bowlers after this will not teach him anything, in fact might make him regress

In red ball I agree.

Well shamyl already got a chance at national level it looked like shaheen afridi was batting. It could have been nerves but all of the matches and they were one days not even t20s

Play him international now, and you will regret it for years to come.

He may even top the psl charts, but he aint ready. He needs 2 to 3 full first lass seasons to be cosidered ready.

Just scoring runs doesnt mean you are ready, you need the experience aswell.

Your bring him into international cficket right now, go gaga over 1 or 2 good performances, after which the bad form starts. This is what happened with Haider Ali, Saim Ayub and many other guys.

Develop him than bring him to international. Like fakhar and farhan went through

The bowling groups this season seem diluted because of two extra teams, there's short boundaries and no crowd.

Leave him alone for 12 to 24 months. He needs to play A levels and more quality sides, different pitches, different grounds, before being pushed into the high voltage environment of international cricket which can easily break a young player.

Hain?

Islamabad United is the same team that pulled Farhan out of obscurity last year when nobody wanted him. They gave him the break he desperately needed when he was in red hot form. They let him go because Farhan knew he could fetch a decent fee in the auction

They did not.

During the draft, Farhan was actually ignored. Even though he was playing well. It just after that a domestic t20 took place and fans posted on social media that this guy has been ignored. It was after that, IU did a signing of him.

They never drafted him from the original draft.

Plus, eveb when Farhan nade his debut in PSL with IU back in 2017 or 2018, after 1 season these guys released him, even though he wasnt as bad.

The amount of money they paid for Faheem, should had been paid for Farhan.

Also correct me if i am wrong, this psl wasnt farhan a direct signing and not in the auction?

Its really disturbing how people here think that a player with 5 domestic games is ready for international....
