[VIDEO] "Selection for Pakistan is my ultimate target" : Haris Rauf

Misbah speaking about Rauf's selection today

"Haris Rauf's performances in Australia weren't the only point of note, in PSL he did well on slower pitches too and he bowls well at the death and has good pace. We included him because he has bowled well in all conditions and he is in good form, it's the best time to utilise him"

"When 6 provincial teams were selected, Haris Rauf was picked for Northern by us and he took part in a conditioning camp too. He was in our future plans from earlier, along with the likes of Naseem, Musa and Hasnain. These players can gradually be in all formats. Right now, he is doing well in limited overs but he should also play more FC cricket. We spoke to M Wasim and asked to play him in 4 day games to develop him and we kept getting reports about his progress, he improved and bowled well in 4 day cricket. Slowly, we are moving forward and he has been in our plans"

Babar "Haris Rauf bowled well in PSL but he didn't have much experience. He played domestic cricket and played 4 day and bowled well in Australia, we felt he had improved a lot. He has good variations and death bowling so that's why he was selected"

Hope Haris injury not that serious. Needs games to make his place for WT20

Lahore Qalandars management on Haris Rauf's injury:

Haris Rauf does not have a stress fracture in his ankle but there is a possibility that he may get that if he is played according to doctors. So the more rest he gets the better as he is not only an asset for LQ but also is an asset for Pakistan. The management therefore decided not to risk him but we are hopeful that he will recover to play in the upcoming games.

Great stuff by management could have easily risked him thinking ahead well done !

He shouldnt have been risked today..clearly not fully fit( himself said hes about 70% there). Pace is down and seems to be in pain.

He needs to be rested and allowed to recover. The WC isnt too far way and he should be one of the contenders for a spot

He looked okay today pace wasnt at what we expect but with rythm and match fitness he will get better

In Rauf and Hasnain, Pakistan have found the successors of Wahab and Sami. However, let our excitable fans get excited for a few years before making peace with the harsh reality.

He was not fit today. The commies said he was only 70%. Stupid to play him then.

Nothing alike in style, but I get the impression he is the new Sohail Tanvir.

Tanvir is still living off his first ipl performance. He does well in leagues but is an absolute disaster in international cricket. Pretty sure it will be the same for Raif, regardless of his fitness today

He will have to play exceptionally well to make an impact at World T20.

Otherwise, international-class batters might treat him in a bad way.

Wasn't fit yet bowled well. Imagine what a fit Haris Rauf could do.

Amir, Shaheen and Wahab still Pak's main T20 pacers though. Haris is a good back up.

Looked like he's been rushed back and wasn't match fit. Dangerous tactic by Qalandars.

He was 70% fit as per him and commies quoted during the match. It takes bit of time to get back into rhythm post injury let alone trying to find rhythm when not 100%.

The guy seems quite eager himself

Qalandars best attack is Shaheen, Dilbar, Rauf and Patel. They are missing a key 5th bowler however.

Yes, REALLY intelligent post. Let's judge the future potential of a 19 year old in Hasnain, who incidently also has the most wickets in this year's tournament.

Quick question, do you give up on most athletes at 19?

I hope he proves me wrong but I don't think he is ready for the international stage. He has pace and can bowl a few great deliveries every spell but lacks overall control and will regularly leak runs at the highest level.

You can hope for a better future. I, personally, have seen all that I need to see.

People either needlessly hype a talent to the moon or cricketer being mediocre in short span of time.

Pakistani fans in nutshell

Qalandars will not rest him with on the cusp of their first ever serious playoff pursuit

Thats my impression too. I just hope he doesnt aggravate his injury. Hes 70% fit right now as per himself and we saw them wincing multiple times yesterday whilst bowling.

I would rather have Naseem playing the World T20.

Naseem is overall a much better prospect but Rauf has better T20 potential.

Genuine pace with the ability to bowl yorkers and well disguised slower balls. His short balls are mostly on target as well and we saw him getting a number of wickets with that in the BBL.

Naseem will be on par with rauf in austrlian conditions but in asain conditions in short format rauf will be better due to variety of balls he can bowl

Bit unlucky Rauf - 2 dropped catches but struggling in first over a bit.

Everything about him screams mediocrity.

Assalamoalaikum Warehmatullah e Wa Barakatoh dear brother Mamoon.

Mamoon Haris definitely has issues with line and length due to his action but he is a genuine wicket taker and match Turner on his day.

Why his performances in this year's PSL are mediocre or very poor ? Simply because of his Ankle.

Having prior experience of playing this Sport I can guarantee you that if you have fear that you may break your ankle anytime than you cannot bowl confidently, cannot generate the pace you normally generate and do not exert your optimum impact.

It's not just fear factor rather he is hardly 70 % fit and is experiencing pain aswell. He has been rushed back prematurely.

Haris's biggest strengths in white ball cricket is his 144+kph deadly dipping precise Yorkers and well directed bouncers. Those deliveries and the pressure of those varieties with precise execution grants him wickets. He has bowled atleast a dozen deliveries above 147 kph in BBL lately while in PSL his pace is clearly down.

Though haris rauf is not a world beater sensation but he is a very decent exciting bowler. Clearly his current performances are poor due to injury and fitness issues. One must keep this in mind.

He'll be fine again and back firing all guns provided he doesn't break his Ankle. Hopefully he, Naseem & Shaheen are managed well by their franchises aswell as PCB because they are precious for the national duty.

W. Salam.

Great to see you back. Post more frequently.

Well this is the first time I have had a proper look at him and honestly I am not impressed. He looks like a poor man’s Wahab to me with a chip on his shoulder. I would be genuinely surprised if he amounts to anything more than just T20 cricket, that too at franchise level.

He is struggling to hit yorkers and has barely bowled any deliveries close to or above 90mph in the past few games. Clearly not fit and out of form too.

Hes clearly not fit.. There is no point playing him at this point, your risking his heel/ankle issues getting worse

That was a really poor performance and for me just confirms my conviction that he isn't ready or good enough. As for the fitness excuse, Shaheen is bowling with a damaged thumb and we all saw what he produced.

A thumb injury is physically painful but a foot/ankle injury is going to hamper a fast-bowler a lot more.

A heel/ankle injury means he cant be confident in his delivery stride not knowing how his landing feet will react. That basically takes away everything from a fast bowler.

Wasn't aware it was an ankle injury and agree that it is debilitating for a pacer. Shouldn't have been played in that case. But Rauf hasn't been convincing at all even when fully fit.

If Rauf is injured, then he should not have played the PSL. His reputation was decent following the Big Bash & a good performance against Bangladesh in the T20's. Now I think he will struggle to get into the Pakistan team.

When the bowler himself said that I am 70% after his return than you know something isnt right. I have heard bowlers say I am 90-95% their but 70% was new for me.

Good opportunity for Haris to prove himself on the tour of England

Looking forward to see how he bowls in England. I know it will be difficult but if he can adopt Archers role somewhat then he would be very useful.

only playing 3 games of 20 20 its so strange taking such a big squad...other players will be twiddling their thumbs for all the matches in tests
