Sheikh Ahmed Deedat is a well known inter religious debator who got fame by defeating many eminent names like Jimmy Swaggart, Pastor Stanley Sjoberg, Anis Shorrosh etc. His debates are still widely available online and very interesting to listen too.

But the current generation seems to be unaware of this hero from past. So have you heard about him before or listen to his lectures before?

hes fairly well known in most learned religious circles. as someone who has an interest in comparisons between the Abrahamic faiths i find his videos fairly illuminating from the Islamic point of view. his video on Abraham, sarah, hagar and ishmael is pretty good.

I liked his videos on Crucifixion or Crucifiction. He explained it logically in light of verses from Bible

Even Zakir Naik didn't have it, although he is a great scholar too.
At the end of the day Zakir Naik is an Indian. He has the charisma of a typical Indian, spelling bee winner or boring stat padder like Tendulkar.

Deedat was like Viv Richards. He came and turned the table on the white man using their own game. If you take into account his limited education, the environment he was working in and the relentless pressure he faced from Christian missionaries the way he flipped the script on them is extraordinary.

Yep his story, his style and his passion to gobble up knowledge on his own was exceptional. I listen to his debates for enhancing my knowledge and at the same time they are interesting too.

On the channel Peace TV UK between 2009 - early 2010s Sheikh Deedat debates used to come on a lot. I’ve learnt a lot from Sheikh Deedat and Zakir Naik, used to watch it every day. through Peace Tv channel lectures many of got back into the deen with gaining better knowledge and understandings especially younger people.

WHat a man this guy was. Changed the whole perspective about ISLAM in other religions' context. Have heard him and Zakir Naik many times and they have been on song most of the times. You may have different point of view to them sometimes though but it does not mean they are not good enough.

Sheikh Deedat was also of indian genes, born to gujju muslim parents in India.

Lmao. This dude Deedat is Gujarati Muslim himself.

As a Sanatani I find many of his comments objectionable and offensive. He can continue with this stuff outside Bharat but I hope not to see him in our country because such people are not welcome.

Deedat or Naik?

Ahmad Deedat was an extraordinary orator, just like Dr. Israr (different styles, different target audience). Zakir Naik is simply not near Deedat in terms of debating skills.

Do RSS Hindus believe in ghosts?

Thats subjective and your opinion.

India is his country too, Zakir Naik should be able to go return to his motherland and speak freely or is there no free speech under Modi anti muslim regime?

Dr Naik lectures are fair and he speaks the truth about religions, he gives clarity with references. Am sure what he exposes about certain other religion contradictions doesn’t go too well with some people.

This is my gripe with Zakir Naik.

When a non Muslim claims to find a contradiction in Quran or an error ( something we of course deny) we have the following retorts. Like when Zulqarnain said he saw the sun set in a pool. Hadith are full of similar things to non Muslim critics.

1. You are taking out of context
2. You can't understand as a layman you need to take XYZ into account.
3. You need to know Arabic language.

But for other religions we are ok for a doctor with no scholarship to pick up their book and say hahaha your pope/rabbi/temple leader is wrong this verse doesn't mean what you have agreed it actually means something else.

Strip down the arguments and it is Hahaha you Hindus are so dumb your book says this or predicts this. Meanwhile Hindus are scratching their heads wondering how this person uninitiated in their tradition came to such a wacky conclusion.

It is unfair treatment sometimes.

If we really want to compare religion then we should have serious scholarly debate where proper research is done. I have seen him debate with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar once but I'm not sure how serious a debate it was.

I don’t want to debate much on this topic so please don’t force me. I am just saying that you cannot dare mock Hinduism in Bharat and expect to walk away with your head still hanging with your body. This is not Bharat of the old where Hindu gods could be mocked casually.

My rule is simple.
I don’t mock their religion and expect the same. If they do that better be doing it from the comfort of their foreign country. In my country, Hinduism must not be mocked and whoever dares it must not escape the strictest punishment.

Hindus cannot mock Islam in Saudi Arabia. Mostly out of respect but little bit out of fear of punishment.

But in Bharat, unfortunately for a long time in the name of secularism and freedom of speech we allowed foreign religion people to mock Hinduism openly without getting any punishment. Zakir Naik was one of those people and was rightly forced to run away once BJP came to power and revived Sanatan Dharma in our country and connected us back to our roots.

I don’t have any problem with Muslims following and liking such people. But you better not be staying in Bharat then.

Back in the days when I didn't follow Zakir Naik, but thought that he is someone who talks about common grounds between religions (based on the little that I saw), I had a positive opinion about him. Later a friend of mine ( who is a muslim) told me that he hates people like Zakir Naik. I was surprised, because this friend was not a hardliner and had no reason to hate someone who talked about similarities between religions. I told him that isn't Zakir Naik is a good think for a country like India, where he brings everyone together? He laughed and said, you don't understand him. He brings people from other religions in order to humiliate them and their religion. He predicted that this guy is going to cause trouble for muslims.

What's your opinion on Sheikh Deedat?

I think these religion comparisons are waste of time. It is because nobody changes mind after the comparison (generally).

When it comes to these things, I try to follow what Allah (SWT) mentioned in Surah Al-Kafirun.

Say, "O disbelievers,
I do not worship what you worship.
Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.
Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.
Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.
For you is your religion, and for me is my religion." (Surah Al-Kafirun: Verses 1-6)

Ahmed Deedat is a good speaker and debater. However watching my favourite Medikal Doctor Zakir Naik is similar to watching a circus,

To be honest even a simple Muslim can defeat a christian , because the basis or fundamentals of Christianity is flawed , completely flawed.

No one can be free from criticism , but it would have been better if you could give example of where you disagree with him.

He has debated with other scholars , even hindu preachers , they had opportunity to point to his contradictions.

Please no more religious stuff here. No more trolling and mocking of religions here. This is a warning for all those who are making irrelevant jokes in this thread. Stay on topic or else leave this thread.

Zakir Naik a student of comparative religion never mocked hinduism or any other religion. I don’t know where you got that from. Godi media? Jeez..bruh, they reported with ultra lie about Liton Das house which is Rangpur got burnt when it was Mashrafe Mortaza’s house in Narail, Khulna. People shouldn’t blindly believe the lies and propaganda of the godi media.

There is no contradiction in Quran. Holy Quran and 100% pure and protect by Allah Almighty from any contradiction and fabrication. The context is key to reading the Quran or any holy scriptures for that matter, that’s standard. The quran was revealed over passage of time and certain verses came during events too like during battles. So if a non MUSLIM is pointing out a verse, they need to read it throughly. Naik doesnt deny what the questioners ask, he tells them to see to it in context.

Kindly don’t force me into this debate for i have no interest in discussing a moron like Zakir Naik who has no respect for other religions.

Under my watch no one can mock Hinduism.

Give example where he has mocked hindu religion or other religion , right now you call him moron , is that not mocking a person?

Like i said, engaging further in this debate will involve blasphemy against religions which i condemn on social media. Still if you are curious you can go to YouTube and check all the objectionable comments by this moron of a guy against Hinduism. I find it extremely pathetic that he survived in our country for so long. No wonder Sanatana was on the verge of extinction before Modi ji revived it.

A dark era in our history when any tom zakir harry could openly mock our religion and walk away freely.
Look you claimed that Zakir naik mocked other religions , but when I am asking for evidence so that people know the truth about Him , why you not providing that?

Without evidence your statement is only allegation not fact.

It's great to appreciate different perspectives. While you might not always agree with their views, the impact of speakers like Zakir Naik in shaping discussions about Islam is undeniable. Their contributions spark meaningful dialogue across diverse audiences.

If it is ok for a Sanatani to call Zakir Naik a moron, then surely ok for others who don't revere Modi ji a moron as well? It just depends on your perspective surely?
