Decent pace, no swing through. Also the batsmen looked to slog which helped him obviously.

Very excited about Mavi and Nagarkoti.

India should blood them in shortly and ensure they are used wisely in the right formats in the right matches.

Surely raw potential is heir but fitness, attitude, temperament and hard work is what makes a difference. For example, surely Rabada was considered a decent talent in U19 but nobody expected him to become what he has in such a short time. Also many stars of U19 or young age fade away. Lets see how these guys handle themselves and improve.

Good pace. Batsmen were slogging, but he was too quick for them.

Mavi got a bit of stick in IPL. Hopefully he improves.

140k+ bowlers don't come very often. Feel for Nagarkoti. Where is he these days?

Surprisingly looks good, I mean U-19 is one thing but Vijay Hazare is a good start.

He's been out of cricket due to a couple of injuries. Last I heard he was going to the UK to treat a back injury.

Hopefully he'll be back playing cricket next season.

Both Mavi and the other guy are good talents. Mavis height may count against him in his pursuit of a successful career.

Back Injury already?

Hope he does not become a trundler once he comes back. So he will not playing Next year IPL then. Very disappointing.

Hopefully, the injury won't bring his pace down. Even Mavi had an injury a couple of years before the WC. But his pace seems to be fine.

He'll play the IPL next year, though. There's a lot of time for that.

What an ignorant statement!

When exactly have you seen a 45 overs old white kukaboorra ball swing? Especially in the SC!
Dont take it personally. Pakpassion is full of teenage critics who weren't born when the game was full of legends.

Genuine Fast bowlers who bowl at 90mph plus often get back injury in their younger days.

140 plus alone wont make you great.Varun Aaron is still India's fastest bowler and was bowling 140 plus when he was blasted all around by Bangladeshi batsmen. So is Wahab Riaz and Mohd Sami.Even in this match, he went for 70 in 10 overs and got these wickets at the end of match which didn't exactly help his team.
Since both Mavi and Nagarkoti are short, they need to have more skills with their pace.

Both Mavi and Nagarkoti are brilliant talents and have the pace and skill. Not sure why we think they don't have the skill to go with their pace. I have high hopes for both of them and I hope they come through. Now only if we can tell the team management that Mohammad Siraj is a class above Shardul Thakur. These guys cannot do anything right.

Back from injury and absolutely rattled a decent Saurashtra batting lineup spearheaded by Pujara and including u19 teammate at the WC Harvik and Sheldon Jackson in the Ranji QFs.

Also scored a gritty 42 to get UP to a decent score in the first innings.

We will see him fasttracked to the senior team, similar level of talent to Gill, Shaw, Pant.

Score card?

Good to have Pujara playing a Ranji match just after his exploits in Australia. He did not have to as he’s in tremendous form. This is a reason why India is #1 in test matches.

Even better to see Pujara getting out to the Gen-next local fast bowler when the best of Aussi swingers could not get him easily in their own grounds!

42? Is he a decent bat too?

He can smack a few and has the power to clear the boundary. Seen him in U19 WC and also in IPL. Not an all rounder, but can score some useful runs down the order. Right now, I would put him slightly ahead of Shami with the bat.

Interested people can find highlights on Hotstar.

Real tragics can watch ball by ball too if you really want too. :)

Contrast this with Dhoni. When was the last time he played a domestic game?

I even heard that he backed out after giving his consent for one of the games!

Dhoni is 37, retired from test, will gain nothing from playing first class game, playing a young keeper is way to go.
But yeah he should have played more list A games to get in to the form

There are no List A game going on. Not playing competitive FC games means selectors would pick him purely on reputation instead of forming an opinion based on form. Dhoni's waning reflexes and eye would be exposed in FC circuit, and he himself knows it better than most.

My point is that FC games will not help him, this bowling friendly pitches will not get him in the form, his problem is not about surviving. He can play easily big Inning, if he want, problem is he is not in flow, he can't rotate strike.
Loss in skill of rotation of strike is leading to slow inning, there was a time I remember when he made half century in 60 or 62 ball without hitting single boundary.
He will not start rotating strike by playing FC games on bowling friendly wickets where prime need is to survive and play slow and long inning.

See playing FC games might have helped him if the pitches were still some batting friendly like early 2000 but now he will gain nothing for odi.
Right now FC games and test matches pitches are completely different from odi ones.

FC cricket is also cricket. A point comes when you need to stop complicating stuff. Otherwise it never stops.

The pitches aren't the same.
The bowlers aren't quality to test him.
Long format, short format.
Strike rotation.

etc etc

Dhoni needed to play every single FC match because he simply doesn't play enough cricket and slots straight into India's LOI set up. Everything else is NOISE.
