Thanks. He is usually a good rotator of strike but I think he has been looking to overhit the ball at times.

Also am I the only one who sees a touch of Inzi in him? (not comparing!)
 
Overhyped. Check his PSL performance, just 2 somewhat decent scores of 40(29) and 33(25) out of 5 innings. His stats are below average in every format. Btw, i’m a karachi waala so no bias here, calling it as i see it.
 
I don't think he deserves to play at this level. He is a liability in field. Judging from his fitness, I don't know whether he really has passion to play for Pakistan. He is so lazy. Its a disgrace to see him ahead of the more fitter players.

I had already made a thread on him in his debut year when he made a 50 for larkana against karachi and won larkana the game in national t20
 
Mixes brutality and power with finesse and dexterity.

Rotates the strike well.

Now PSL has (hopefully) given him ability to handle pressure and construct innings.

One noticeable thing in his first domestic post-PSL game (Pakistan Cup) is he showed patience and backed his ability. Even though it took him seven balls to get off the mark he kept his cool and didn't play a rash shot. This is what sharing dressing rooms/batting with international players does. This is why the likes of Zeeshan, Saif, Saud, Danish and Hasan etc need to play PSL.

Looked scratchy at the start but made 42(47). Needs to push on and score at least one century this Pakistan Cup. Pretty 30s and 40s won't silence the critics.

He can score a double ton today. But its few weeks too late. Wanted to see him in WC probables.

As waqar younis said in his report some years back “sacrificing one Umar Akmal, will lead to many other talents rising”.

Some valid points made and good observations regarding Ahsan Ali for a couple of years now. Also completely agree that PSL helps youngsters with pressure handling especially the ones who have got the basics right in other aspects of their game and just need that bit of exposure.

Good to see some pretty decent white ball players coming up in Ahsan Ali and Khushdil Shah. Hopefully youngsters like Saif Badar who have the ability to play modern day white ball cricket are also groomed.

Also the likes of Iftikhar Ahmed, Adil Amin etc have already been performing consistently in List A for sometime now and they definitely have the shots to up the anti as well but never got much of chances.

5. Zeeshan Malik

6. Abid Ali (unlikely due to age and current weight)

7. Sharjeel Khan (unlikely for the time being due to fitness + lack of any professional cricket in last 2 years)




I am pretty sure that Ahsan Ali's skill set are better than Shahzad, Rizwan & Sahibzada. (Irrespective of domestic numbers)


He provedd his immense promise in PSL aswell.




Here is a advice my friend. Now you have required money aswell. Times have turned. If you acquire these fitness levels in next 3-6 months (hope you are already working on your fitness post PSL) than you can play for more than a decade for Pakistan team given you stay humble, disciplined and focussed.



Nowadays fitness is number 1 priority for International Cricketers. Yes Virat Kohli should be the bench mark but now we have two hood examples of Shan Masood & Ahmed Shehzad aswell. Make them your role model wrt fitness. I hope you learned a thing or two from Ahmed wrt fitness in PSL.


Here is your competitor with lots of PR, connections & public support along with decent recent domestic performances aswell.


Passion, dedication, focus and hardwork will win the Pakistan Star soon for a guy who was one of the youngest FC cricketers of Pakistan to score FC double ton. Do it.

Saw him a bit in PSL, cut and pulled the ball well, traits missing in many a subcontinental batsmen, especially the current Pakistani openers...

Should be groomed and given opportunity in the national side for sure...but threatens bhateeja's spot in the lineup so as long as Inzi is around and even if Inzi is gone, ex players' network/mafia will ensure bhateeja stays put...

So, another talent will be wasted...

Fitness and six packs are over rated, especially for batsmen. As long as you have the skills to bat, who cares how many doubles and triples you run...

Beggars cannot be choosers at this point, we don't even have batsmen with basic batting skills...six pack ka achar daalain gay?

If Amir Sohail is selector which is looking likely - Ahmed Shehzad and Ahsan Ali will be inducted - he's mentioned it in many interviews that they should have been in the squad.
 
Ahsan looked like a stylish player in PSL but his problem was not converting starts. Maybe fitness was the issue.
 
I had called for ahsan ali's inclusion in the wc squad.
I wanted ahsan ali, haris rauf, umer khan and umar akmal in this wc squad!
I didn't want malik, imam, asif or husnain in the wc squad.
With hindsight, the only change i would make to the above, is keep husnain and discard shaheen.
So malik, imam, asif and shaheen are the players that should not be playing in this wc!
 
was very good on eyes with good pull and cut shots, should play atleast t20 after wc provided he passes fitness tests.
 
I wouldn't have him anywhere near the national team, unless he imoroves his FC stats.

Another talat, looked good in a few innings in the PSL, but no solid foundations and an abysmal FC record.

i think he is an excellent player... played spin n fast bowling with confidence ... needs grooming but can and shld be tested in the team at no5/6

I think he is best suited for 1, 2 or 3, maybe 4 but not 5 or 6. unless you want to groom him at 5 or 6 and then move him up the order.
I think Babar can as an opener in T20 and Harris Sohail can come at 3, Ashan Ali can be @ 4 and rest of the team.....

I think both Ashan Ali and Sahibzada Farhan should be introduce in Pakistani national team.

come on ... u named a good prospect with a domestic bully ... farhan doesnt have it ... he isnt cut for internaitonal level... he couldnt bring his A game in PSL as well

Why not make Sahibzada the captain of our LOs sides? He has definitely shown so much in the limited opportunities he has got.

Ignore that 25 batting average and watch his batting highlights.

He has some temperament issues thus the poor batting stats, also he is yet to play decent amount of games and that takes batting stats out of the equation.

Used to be fan of him but after seeing his work ethic and his seriousness about fitness i wouldn't even select him for psl team forget about Pakistan national team


N0 wonder why we are in such a hopeless situation. Every tom dick is considered for Pakistan team .First of all this kid should definitely improve his fitness which is utter shambolic even worse than the current umar akmal then after comes his performances in domestic cricket

We should play him against teams that don't need temperament to play against. Teams like DontExist, NoExistence and ExistentialVoid
 
It's not unusual for young batsmen to struggle initially in domestic cricket, it all depends on how he reacts to that disappointment. He had a decent PSL and then followed it up with a maiden List A ton, now he needs to carry on next season. Getting fitter should also be a priority.
 
Ahsan Ali 119 (123 balls, 18 fours, 1 six) for Sindh vs Central Punjab in the 2nd XIs yesterday.
 
Interesting to see how much he has worked on his fitness .In this year psl he was in terrible shape
 
Has enough time and picks the lengths early against pacers and on top of that plays bug shots against spin really well.

Who is this guy? Very sound approach while hitting boundries almost identical to Rohit Sharma. Nice talent
 
Fatty needs to lose some weight before he gets anywhere near the International setup. Don’t need yet another lazy cricketer.

Like this move of playing him in the middle-order in the longer format. Should suit his style of play more.
 
I am very happy for him, if he works on his fitness he will serve Pakistan for a long period. I have seen him batting, very easy approach to a good length ball, and hit those balls for Six with such a perfect timing. Good choice in high performing Camp.

It doesnt require a genius to see that he is a naturally aggressive batsman so there was no point in forcing Haris to do what he isnt accustomed to do and that was to utilize the power play overs. He was also a like for like replacement for Fakhar Zaman if he was out of form. Nevertheless I hope he is part of the T20 plans going forward as other than Fakhar, Sharjeel and him there arent many aggressors available at the top.

Averages in the low 20's for T20's and unsurprisingly, also in the 20's for List A and FC.

So he gets selected and rightly so. As mentioned before other than Fakhar and Sharjeel he is the only one who is naturally aggressive opener and has shown decent skills in PSL and national T20.

In T20s 20-30 runs in the powerplay at SR of 150+ can provide the much needed impetuous.

This guy isn't a big hitter, so he has absolutely no value.

You are referring to guys like Zaman and Sharjeel, who can hit 30 runs at the top with a 140+ SR.

When I meant flashy shots, I meant stylish, not big hitting flashy shots.

Sarfraz was to be picked in place of Mohammed Rizwan but at the last minute the selection Committee changes their minds, talk is they would have looked foolish bringing him back this quickly.
 
good selection - I'd much rather have Ahsan than the same old recycled garbage. Look forward to seeing him bat!

This makes a lot of sense.

He has no domestic performances to speak of, but is still selected which is bizarre.
 
Ahsan may not have scored mountains of runs, but he has a decent strike rate, and he showed signs during the PSL that he can play aggressively.

The main problem was that he failed to capitalise on starts- lets see if he can address that issue.
 
He made 309 runs in the PSL and National T20 Cup. Average is around 25 but SR is around 140.

In his last two List A tournaments (QEA One-Day Cup and Pakistan Cup), he played 12 matches and made 522 runs at an average of 47 and SR of 101 with a (maiden) hundred and three fifties.

He then played 10 matches in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2nd XI, hitting 529 runs. Average 44 and strike-rate 85, easily the highest strike-rate for anyone with 300+ runs in the tournament.

The other alternatives for the opening slot are Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Ahmed Shehzad, Khurram Manzoor, Salman Butt, Awais Zia, Umar Amin. Take your pick.

Looks really good in the uploaded videos.

The only concern I have is that his average is poor in domestic. Not sure why we are expecting him to have a good average in international cricket.

WOW ! if you read two posts above your post from Abdullah, you see latest stats of Ahsan, which means he improved and selected, so your thoughts failed in this case :)
 
Awful batsman. An absolute hack and no better then awais zia and rafatullah momand. Also how we are still selecting players with poor fitness levels and fat stomachs in 2020 is beyond me. For all of misbahs shortcomings no one could ever deny his superior fitness levels as a player hence his longevity. He of all people should realize the importance of good fitness levels as an international sportsman representing your country. We need to start looking at india. One of the reasons they are levels and levels ahead of us right now is their dedication to fitness, gym work and not celebrating every Ton & five wicket haul with a chocolate cake. Embarrassing stuff!

Misbah is the same person that brought back certified failures Junior and Shehzad. And then the 40 year old dinosaur in professor. He also selected Sharjeel during his captaincy days. To say a Misbah cares about fitness just because he was fit is an absolute joke.

Actually, he still averages in the 20's in all formats.

He was playing in the 2nd xi for FC, so averaging 44 is hardly impressive and he averaged 22 in the PSL.

Very poor.
 
Well, looks like he'll be starting PSL from the bench. Sarfaraz mentioned yesterday that the top 3 will be Watson, Roy and Shehzad.
