[VIDEO] Talent Spotter : Saad Ali

Is this block Nabil Tahir coming from Mars? He is writing for Express Tribune and starting the article with "Opening batsman Saad Ali ............."

If this guy and Fakhar Zaman do not get a chance, then Pakistan bloodily DESERVE to be whitewashed!

I’ve had enough! Inzamam has to stop selecting his family and friends!

Saad is a Karachi based batsman. I don’t know what it is but being from there is an advantage. Many Indians are good batsman, and many great batsmen of Pakistan have came from Karachi. Fawad Alam for an example.

Saad Ali is the only batsmen having credentials of playing good on under prepared green mambas , not sure he can handle extra bounce though.

Both the debutants Imam and Faheem have done well.

Other kids like Saad and Usman will do well too. Give the kids some time. They are few of the best we got. It is how it is. We need to work on them. Asmaan sai koi nai tapkay ga.

When your top order collapses against Ireland. You know you got a pretty BLOODY weak top order.

Saad Ali should be debuted, he is better than Shafiq and Harris!

Batting right now but something tells me that he is more worried about getting out at a low score!

Very disappointing from someone who is rated highly at domestic level.

Finally gets some runs this season.

FC vs Multan: 129, 41
List A vs Multan: 82 (84)

Part of Pakistan A squad in their 4 Day match vs NZ A

Saad Ali is on 107* runs of 163 balls against New Zealand A.

Why is he not on the test squad already? Was checking some numbers in QEA and he seems to be the only guy in 2017/18 season to score more than 500 runs at an average of 50+, that too against Dukes ball in bowler friendly pitches.

Maybe you should have checked more and seen his stats in quaid trophy this year and in 2 A games against Aus and NZ A before this innings

Babar Replaced Position Of Asad Shafeeq, Now Saad Ali Need To Totally Replaced Asad In test.

Saad And Saud need to play must in odi and test

Well done to him for his hard work - now has a chance to make good on his talent.

Selection is not rocket science. Pick the guys with the best, proven track records and if they don't work out - keep going down the list.

Saad Ali averages 46 in both FC and LA cricket. He was in the last Test squad yet is now nowhere to be seen.

The team management's decision making since the summer has been awful. For about a year and half there was generally a logical approach to our selections and consistency in the squads named for each series.

Now we have reverted back to short termist mindset and guys coming and going for no reason which characterised previous selection committees. One of our most consistent domestic performers in Saad Ali has been lost in the chaos while seniors like Shafiq, Hafeez and Malik continue to hog spots that they no longer deserve.

Saud, Saad, Zeeshan, Saif, Babar will be the bedrock for the next generation of Pakistani batting.

It boggles my mind how people state that ingniting youngsters will not change anything.

Have we not learned that our past two tournament wins have come when we have rid of notorious seniors?

So happy for Saad. I hate QG for what they did to him. Hopefully he will play most of the games and leave a good mark. Can play the holding role for LQ b/w the aggressive top order batsmen and the tail.

As I said before, he rotates the strike very well and as such should have been a part of the South African series.

Also lol at LQ

Must be given a full series against Australia. He looks like a good batsman, doesn't waste balls and rotates the strike from ball one.

I saw everyone praising him based on today's innings then I check the scorecard thinking he'd played a good innings yet he was out for single figures. WTH???

Of course he did not scpre big but sometimes you can get the impression and he was feeling at home more than we have hyped up already plus he is not a t20 bat far sure. When he tried to slog he lost his wicket.

He's a odi/test batsman definitely not a t20. So he's fine for the WC

Looked confident against spin but not so much against pace bowling.

Only saw 9 deliveries of him, but did not look to time the ball well in his short innings. Still too early and need to see more. He deserves his chances.

I still have more hopes from Saud Shakeel though.

Sooo.

Is he yet another product of PP hype machine? Who's actually nothing of substance, and is another Sahibzada Farhan?

Why am I not surprised.

What're u basing this on?
The one match he's played??
Just look at his stats and then you'll find out why he's being "hyped' up.

He could replace Asad Shafiq for tests.

Give him some time at least. Not really a T20 player tbh. ODI format should suit him better.

Are you having a moment of madness? He is a very good batsmen, T20s don't suit him, he isn't just hype. For gods sake, look at his FC and List A stats, he is a proven quality player who is ready for internationals. Do your research before opening your mouth.

PP reading way too much into T20s as always :)). I am not writing him off but I would rather judge him off a few ODIs or test games rather than a game that no one will remember in a few weeks. Also don't think he is a T20 player anyway.

Shouldn't go for domestic stats - they're often deceiving.

But, I'm not saying he isn't good. Just saying there's a chance he'll turn out like most batsmen that are hyped here.

Of course, can only 100% judge once he's drafted into the national side.

aren't you a fan of umar amin

Who's very good.

Is that why Umar Amin averages in the 30s against departmental attacks ?

Had good last few seasons. His issue is mostly mental, being soft, which has been overcome to a good extent.

I feel sorry for Saad as he may have to score two back to back hundreds to be considered for that plain ticket to England for the ODI series where he can show if he is good enough to play for Pakistan in this world cup.

Him and Abid Ali both should have played the 5 ODI's against Australia.

Watched his 73 vs Balochistan

Good:

- Generally good head position
- Strong square of the wicket
- Plays ball late
- Solid temperament
- Increased strokeplay as innings went on (rotated strike, and found boundary)
- Plays spin well

Needs work:

- Lack of feet movement
- Doesn't always get his body in line, especially when playing through offside
- Bat occasionally twists in his hand (habit of flicking through legside)
- Finds it harder to rotate strike through offside

Want to see him in tests- similarities with Cook.

For someone who enjoys playing square of the wicket, his game against the short ball is terrible. Needs urgent work.

I Agree, Sahibzada Farhan played the wrong format, Clearly T20s Dont suit him. He has done very well in List A and should be given a proper chance to play ODIs. At least 1 full series should be given to Abid Ali and Farhan. Let them both open and rest Imam and Fakhar. Only like this can we discover good talent. See how both Rizwan and Haris shined against Aussies when they knew they would play all 5 odis and in the correct position which suits their style of play (3/4 respectively).

Pakistan International Airlines: 230-7, 83 overs (Abdul Rehman 77 not out, {174b, 7x4s}; Ali Imran Pasha 40 not out, {92b, 2x4s}; Fahad Iqbal 33, {88b, 2x4s}; Tahir Khan 31, {48b, 5x4s}; Shahzer Muhammad 28, {78b, 3x4s}; Ilyas Khan 4-76, Nasir Ahmed Khan 2-56) and 51 for 3, 24 overs (Shoaib Khan 27 not out, {70b, 3x4s})

Has been excellent in Grade-2 this term. Sad that ESPN don't keep record of Grade-2 otherwise his average would have improved more.

Grade 2 isn’t first class.

Don’t understand why the PCB don’t have a pentangular FC tournament at this time of the year. Would be much better for the development of fringe players like Saad, Saud etc to be playing higher quality cricket than grade 2 tournaments.

Captain of SBP - scoring 105 and 153* in the Grade 2 Final against HEC! Well done to him

105 and 220 in the final of Grade 2 - and Winning Captain - He should be playing Tests also

If a guy is on the verge of test selection, he has no business playing Grade 2 cricket. Sure it is good for the development of other players in Grade 2, but someone who is in the test squad going back and playing Grade 2 is like you don't do well in your university math course you go back and ace class 6 math exam.

There was such a clamour for this guy's selection 2-3 years ago but he honestly hasn't justified the hype in the new system with tougher competition.

Averages 33 from 21 innings in new format, five fifties but no centuries yet.

To be fair to him he looked good a year or 2 back but has lost a confidence.
