This is the weirdest celebration I have ever seen.

Looks disgusting and unhygienic.

They are free people , have every right to celebrate the well earned trophy, who are we to criticize them.

Lol strange logic. Of course they are free but why are people not allowed to criticize them? To share opinion on this matter is also freedom of speech. Besides, as a doctor would you advise people to to drink from sweaty shoes? :)

And we’ve got people criticizing our cake cutting celebrations, jeez.

LOL.... they have done it in Motor Racing drinking from a shoe, they deserve to celebrate for being winners...Liked their batting intent.... next year T20 they have better conditions for themselves...

Oh my God he is drinking sweat , this is so unhygienic, It's ok to celebrate but not in a ways that can hurt your health badly.

I am all for acting silly, and celebrating in a silly way, but their is limits, and this my friends has crossed the limit, its Gross and degrading. At the end of the day Australia won, and they have every right to celebrate in which way they find is fitting.

It's the shooey. I first saw this in UFC - by the Australian fighter Tai Tuivasa...

Personally I find it revolting but I guess if they are having fun and are prepared to take whatever health risks they may accrue - and their cricket board is okay with it - good for them then.

what a vile way to celebrate...

the imbibing of alcohol often triggers a suppressed gene in males

obvioulsy in these PC times we have to respect the culture of others, so in that spirit, "good on ya sport"

:inzi2

Eating street food in any Desi country is a bigger health risk than a Shoey.

They probably do a lot worse behind closed doors

These guys are pretty wild when they are in party mode and completely off the racks with alcohol.

The amount of stress one is under in competitive sport. No better feeling knowing that you have done all the hard work and are champions of the world. Alcohol is only going to make the individual even more liberated than his mind already is at the moment of knowing he is on top of the world.

The alcohol will kill the germs.

A few friends of mine have seen people do this at airports even.

They needed to be escorted off the plane for causing disturbances.

Each culture has unique ways of celebrating, but so long as they are not endangering others with their celebrations, I suppose it is futile to criticize them.

And what about chemicals?? Does alcohol kills all the germs??

Alcohol kills both bacteria and viruses. Whether the concentration of alcohol is sufficient I do not know, maybe a doctor on this forum can give an informed opinion.

Many , if not all , small vineyards crush & ferment grapes with their bare foot which is commonly accepted & defended by wineries as hygienic because of the germs might be neutralised by the acids etc.

But that apart, I hope this isnt glorified too much & would make for bad viewing if done more regularly.

They won the trophy they can celebrate anyway they want

The loser nations are no one to question or talk about how they are celebrating. Maybe with the trophy first and than talk anout how to celebrate.

Let them enjoy their win. The nhl players drink out of the stanly cup which is quite dirty as everyone touches it.

This is nothing new. When kids play travel ball here a parent will throw a challenge to the team that they will drink beer out of their shoe or wear a pink tutu etc. if they win the championship. It sorta serves as a motivation to the team.
