I think he needs to be careful about such things, especially given the issue with ICC during the South Africa tour.

nahin i dont think he said anything for which he should be careful. He was commenting himself and other two due to good camera result.

What a silly thing to say. Classless behavior and should never play for Pakistan again

really? what did he say can you tell me? was he in a press conference. That was a personal video number 1 and number 2 complimenting himself and two others as fun is not considered a crime for which he shouldn't for Pakistan.

Still thinks his Abey kallley was funny and he's trying to imply it by using the gorra word.

Pathetic.

So?

He's just making fun out of himself as a joke. He's literally making fun out of his own skin colour.

Nothing pathetic or classless about it. It is actually mildly funny and not offensive at all.

Clearly, you have all of the class in the world to be judging people by watching a 10-second video.

Let's let Saifee be Saifee, at least off the field. We should give our cricketers at least that amount of breathing space.

By the way, Saifee, Asad, Tabish and most of Karachi's cricketers train at this gym owned by Shehzar Mohammad, grandson of Hanif Mohammad and the trainer in the video. He also plays for Sindh 2nd XI. The guy knows how to train and he puts these guys through some intense circuits.

Although what he said in S Africa was offensive but we must give sarfraz benefit of doubt on this vid, mostly pak folks say something similar YAAR HM GORAY LG RY HAIN when infront of filtered mobile cam or latest iphone :)

nahi bhai they think now saifee should act like a robot.

This shameless person is never going to learn. I hope he's enjoying being kicked out of the team.

why not let this poor guy live. Khud is se bari batain ki hon gi aur dusron ko judge krte hain.

Lmao that is not offensive.
He is just talking about the lighting effect on the skin.

People usually say this in jest all the time similar to what Sarf did. Lets not conduct undue criticism.

Really people are complaining about one complementing oneself and friends for looking lighter. What is the world coming to?

This guy is absolutely clueless. A national embarrassment who had no business captaning Pakistan. What he did in South Africa summed up how our players lack common sense.

Lack of sense. How can you say this after what had happen?

The guy recording the video needs to have some shame also.

He's a pro cricketer, who has taken the spot of a deserving youngster for years.

Has played first-class cricket for almost 11 years.

In 77 first-class innings, he averages 22.

In 22 list-a innings, he averages 18 strike rate 68.

Who ever is trying to make this into an issue should do something better with their time.

Absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. Let him have some fun.

I have always maintained from day one that is he is a Karachi street cricketer due to his mannerisms and the way he conducts himself.

He trains them at Real Strength in Emerald Tower, which I don't think he owns. I believe he owns the 24 hr gym Shredz

Unnecessary criticism.

Dude can't even be himself of field with the bros?

I dislike him as much as the next guy, but it is utterly ridiculous to criticize him for this.

It is a complete non-issue and we all say far worse things among our friends. Besides, what he said was not offensive at all by any stretch of the imagination.

It is completely baffling that people are even talking about this.

Not a big fan of Sarfaraz, especially after his series of poor performances during his captaincy stint.

This was actually quite funny though.

People finding this offensive probably have no idea of the Pakistani culture and how the use of some words work. You can’t always take such words in a literal sense, what he said is not offensive at all.

If a white guy said we are looking a bit tanned, would it have any connotations? No, so nor should this

People need to understand - there are somethings you can share with friends but when you are on social media and are ex Pakistan captain then there is an onus on you to be careful.

In my industry, we are told that until we are contract with our employer, everything we do outside work hours also reflects on the employer - the same applies to players who are contracted by the PCB.

This might have been a lighthearted comment without any racial connotations, but Sarf needs to be careful.

in Pakistani society yaar mein kitna gora lag raha hun or yaar mein kitna kala lag raha hun isn’t a racist thing at all infact is the most normal thing to say not even Pakistani society infact any society.

Yeah except cricket is international and played with international teams and has an international audience

I think I played against the the guy taking selfie in a practice game. Hanif Mohammad grandson ?

I don’t think there is anything wrong here. Sarfraz isn’t even racist; it’s just his talking style that he might be using words like gora, kale, mote, lambu.... which I believe most of us also use in some form. These days I see even kids using sh!t, F***... at random to anyone.

However, there are few words that a national captain should avoid and need to know what is politically correct. Here, it was just a casual comments among friends, most probably related to the light of camera screen (which made them look brighter). I think, the problem is using a Urdu word, which has a racist connotation - same thing he could have said with words like “bright”, no issues.

He is not racist and this is a common way of speaking in Pakistan.

Na, nothing to do with the ICC in this instance.

The bigger problem is Pakistan and the rest of the colonial world's obsession with being "gora".

"Bright" is the last word anyone would associate with a Pakistani cricketer.

However the "bro" recording the video did say that the lighting is better in this part of the room at the start of the video.

Problem is most our players can't do cool and just come off as cringe when they try. Not just our players but from the neighbouring countries as well. For example Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul all getting dressed up in "hip" clothes, gold chains and what not just comes off as tacky.

Pandya thinks he is black. He has said in a few interviews that he feels he is a Caribbean Islander from Inside. He is a black wannabe.

Well I stay in South India and being a Kashmiri I have white complexion. In that case my supervisor who is from chennai never agrees to click a picture with me thinking that he will look more darker than he actually is. But everytime he says like this I deliberately stand near him and even he knows it. There is nothing wrong in these kind of funny situations as long as you dont intend to hurt someone. Similarly nothing wrong with this video as well, these things always happen when u have friends around.

Guys a proper lad. Please don’t take this as a racist remark

Sarfraz is a fool and not worthy of representing Pakistan.

The guy is an embarassment.

I've seen now 3-4 videos where he as silly as a kid...

That one in the car where he is singing? Man...

I don't know about you but he is the last guy now I want representing Pakistan.

Put it in perspective...can you imagine any England or UK or in fact pretty much any other country's captain behaving so crassly and crude and let's face it, uncouth in this day and age?

Why we are making an issue out of this?
It is just friends having fun.
We know Sarfaraz is not most polished individual, but he is a good hearted person and never had any racist intention. Even with Phelukwayo incident he genuinely went and apologized personally after media storm.

Not a fan of Sarfaraz or his sense of "humor" but y'all are just overreacting, this thread is full of snowflakes.

So, next time Sarfraz says I'm looking slim or fat, would we call him out for body shaming?

*** this is a non-issue

Crassly, crudely, uncouth?

Jos Buttler says hi

You obviously have not seen videos of Joe Root playing practical jokes. Flintoff also says remember me.

Ok a bit of an overreaction on my part. But I'm taking his various leaked videos into account and talking about his behaviour in those videos which are off the field, not just about getting angry on the field like a Ponting or something.

I don't dislike Sarfraz, and in fact, prefer him as a captain over Azhar. But he does some pretty stupid things when he's on someone's phone camera.
