Q. Can you explain the difference? On Sunday you weren't very good and today you were excellent?
SARFRAZ AHMED:
Today I think the difference was our bowling and fielding.

Q. What did you do to make them better, the fielding in particular? What did you concentrate on to make it better?
SARFRAZ AHMED:
I think actually we do not fielding at all. We had rain the other day, so actually we do nothing (Laughter). So that's why, you know, our players are already boost up from yesterday I think. So everything's right on things.

Q. Did you or the coach say anything to the players?
SARFRAZ AHMED:
Yes, we had a meeting yesterday and we had a very good meeting talking all day about batting and fielding and bowling. If you play ICC Champions Trophy, a big event, make sure you are fielding the batsmen very good. So credit goes to the players, who was today fielding fantastically well.

Q. Was it a case of the coach shouting at the players, or just telling them that they had to do better?
SARFRAZ AHMED:
No, not shouting. You know, our coaching staff was very good. You know, they are backing us after the defeat night, but they are very well supported us, so that's why we played a good game today.

Q. AB de Villiers said yesterday that he thought you had just two part-time spinners and they wouldn't be much pressure for South Africa. What do you have to say to that in terms of how you responded?
SARFRAZ AHMED:
I think we have not two part-time. We have two regular spinners, Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan. And today Shadab Khan only just bowled five overs because Mohammed Hafeez and Imad Wasim bowled really well today, and they took the pressures off for us. They took three wickets early on.

Q. Can you tell us more about the bowling? The bowling was different today. Against India you went for 72 runs off four overs at the end. Was there a different plan? If so, what was it?
SARFRAZ AHMED:
Yeah, actually, we had a good bowling meeting yesterday. We thought about, they had a good batting side. So make sure if you are bowling right areas, thought we had a good -- good thing yesterday, we took wickets. If you took wickets, every good team under pressure.

Q. You seemed to feed off the energy of the crowd really well and in turn they fed off of you. Is there some sort of relationship that really kind of gathers energy over the course of your innings? Can you feel it when you're on the field?
SARFRAZ AHMED:
That is a feeling we miss, not playing in Pakistan. Maybe that was a difference, the crowd was supporting us and that's why the players boosted up and today was I think credit goes to the crowd, as well. They support us very much us I think.

I back you boy. Have always backed you. Keep up the good work and dont let the distractors distract you.

P.S: Please get rid of Hafeez. Please yarrrr!

Dear Sarfaraz, first you have to select them for us to support them. You give us mighty Azhars, Wahabs, shehzads, Hafeezs and expect us to support them? Get fahim ashraf in the mix for next match instead of Hafeez, then you would deserve the support.

Just a small thing here; Hafeez is Mickey's selection. Sarfraz already has sacrificed his batting for Hafeez. Also Sarfraz backs Haris. These 2 have played together before in world cup.
What I want him to be bold and just get rid of Hafeez somehow even if he has to come in bad books of the coach. But its difficult when whole nation goes against you on silly things k why didnt he give overs to Hafeez.

drop azhar for next match bring in faheen as an x factor. fortunes will turn inshallah

We have to somehow find a way of putting Harry in there. If we have to do well in the rest of the tournament.

If by the grace of God we somehow reach the semis, we will definitely be playing England. You cannot beat England with Professor Hafeez strutting out at number four and scoring 30 of 50 deliveries.

The problem that Pakistan has is non-performing seniors.

In Tests as well as ODI's.

Consider the example of Yasir Shah.

He is 31 years old.

He has played 14 Tests in the last year, and taken 73 wickets at an average of 35.89. But in the 50% of matches in which Pakistan bowled first, he averaged 89.66 in the first innings.

In the same period, he averaged 14.00 with the bat.

I don't understand how or why he would retain his place in the Test squad ahead of Shadab Khan. I get that he is still a lot more accurate than Shadab, and indeed is still a better bowler.

But Yasir Shah is a mediocre 31 year old who can't bat, while Shadab Khan is a richly promising 18 year old who can bat.

Surely you invest in youth, you don't just say "well the old guy is still better".

The same argument explains why you pick Fakhar Zaman or Imam-ul-Haq ahead of Salman Butt or Fawad Alam.

Players like Yasir Shah, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik and Sohail Khan need to be retired immediately from international cricket.

And the other players the wrong side of 30 - Azhar Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq - need to be told that they are two bad series from permanent retirement, and that they are too old to be considered for the captaincy.

How about PLAYING the youngsters, instead of sitting them out?

His answers regarding Match against India were completely BS. What exactly seniors did?? - He never explained, why in the world he bowled a spinner for 8 overs against India, nobody in the history of cricket has ever done that, what was logical reason behind it? - There must be some rational thought in his mind or somebody's mind, how did your neurons come to this baffling conclusion, this was biggest brain ****, juniors did nothing compares to that...

One major problem we have is that seniors and Captains are non-performing/mediocre. Look at Sarfraz, he himself is nothing special, his batting is very limited and keeping is so so, still we keep these mediocre guys forever :acp:...Compare that to Virat, Root, KW, ABD those guys are best batsman in the team, naturally they can inspire others, there was nothing inspiring about Misbah, then Azhar and now him, this leadership is exactly like #8 team, a tad better than Holder of WI...Tragedy is all Captains we have picked in last 10 years does not deserved to be in the LOI team, they don't play modern brand of cricket, they hardly have any fans or can inspire anybody

Only in Pakistan you'll see a guy incapable of stringing two coherent sentences being made the captain of national team, I actually feel embarrassed whenever I hear Sarfraz's pressers and post match interviews. This guy is representing the nation in a main event and look at his awful fluency, which inturn reflects very bad on all of us.

How hard it'll be for him or anyone in national side to learn English language given the resources at their disposal and the environment they reside in? Don't they feel ashamed while communicating with foreign coaching staff and conducting post match formalities?

This selfish and lethargic bunch aren't willing to improve on any front and love to make a mockery of themselves both on/off field. It should be made mandatory for a Pakistan captain to gain mastery over English language before taking charge of team, that is the only way to avoid the utter embarrassment in post match conferences.

I think its high time PCB organizes some coaching programs conducted by quality staff to work on our players off-field grooming with English proficiency being given the highest priority and a detailed attention to other modes of behavior like instilling professional attitude and refining media handling skills. They don't need to look further than our neighbor and learn a thing or two from the way they conduct themselves both on/off field.

Sarfraz for us is a gun batsman and the #s speak for themselves ... the problem is he is batting as a slogger when he should be playing as a middle order bat like he did vs Eng last summer.

You should probably listen to the post match interview of ace tennis/soccer stars, they reply in their mother tongue. Language is not important, but what they say and how they say, that matters. However, Sarfaraz is too fast when conversing, he needs to slow down.

When he answers teh questions in Urdu you can tell that he has a good head on his shoulders .Seems to be knowledgeable about his cricket and seems to back his team . Nice to see.

You perfectly summed it up, I concur with each and every word you said, this guy is far from "aggressive captain" as his fans tout him to be and the so called fake bravado was exposed big time against India when he was under the pump, that was the most ridiculous stint of captaincy I've seen from a Pakistani captain over the years, tbh it was worse than Misbah not that he was any better but goes to show you that nothing has changed.

He's mediocre/ordinary at best in all three skill-sets (leadership, batting & gloves), add to that his pathetic attitude on field (shouting on fielders and whining unnecessarily) and poor communication skills and he becomes a complete liability in Pakistan lineup, and yet ironically he's made the captain of two formats completely ignoring his limitations which are so blatantly obvious but not so obvious for our clueless management and board who were more than happy to give him the reins. Shambles!

Don't post such drivel. Someone needs to organize coaching but not for Sarfraz s English but your understanding of sports.

Nobody gives a damn about his presser angrezi. In fact he should talk in his own language as he cannot speak Eng. He's not there to do press conferences in a different language.

He's there to play on the field and communicate with his team in their language.

I'll support the youngsters , the only senior though who is acting like one and being consistent is Malik

My understanding of sports is upto date, modern sports requires the athletes to polish their skills both on/off field more so for a captain who is the face of team and has to constantly deal with foreign media in pressers. English being the universal language that it is should be mandatory for captain of side, so he can convey his answers in a coherent way and not become a laughing stock thereby embarrassing himself and his nation on global stage.

No, you have no idea.

Watch any major football event. The greatest football clubs, teams, players in the modern era.

You'll get to know.

RIDICULOUS Post..... worst actually....
Cristiano and Messi always speak in their mother language after the match..... both know english better than anyone else.... and they are greatest sports icon in the world.....
can't understand this obsession with english.....
he doesn't need to learn english nor should he be forced to do so.....
he can speak in urdu but there is no harm even if he speaks english like the way he does.....
cricket has nothing to do with English.....
Acc to ua ridiculous observations YOUNIS KHAN might be the worst player as he was similar with his ENGLISH language skills and the GREAT Shan Masood should be made CAPTIAN....

british council should infact approve if a cricketer is allowed to play international cricket and he should sing God save the queen

Sarfraz is from a humble background. Its difficult to learn English in those circumstances. He is learning and improving you can see.

It would like it better if they spend time improving their cricketing skills.

Misleading of a headline, so Pak fans who are kicked on the backside by this pathetic team after losing like a loser to india, need Pak fans to support the great young talent of Hafeez, Azhar Ali and Malik, rofl.

This win is a bit of similar to the WC 2015 when PAkistan lost to India by playing badly and then won against RSA due to South Africa playing badly with a third match a washout with Pakistan not advancing further.

Pakistan does'nt have options there domestic players like Sharjeel Khan, Khaled LAtif, Fakhar Zaman are leg side hacks who crash under pressure yet their mentality and game looks far better than the existing crap that being kept politically just like the politically appointed chairman, checkthe debut of these 3 and compare it with 50 strike rate experienced trash imposed on PAkistan batting. Request Pak fans not to get fooled by these controversial matches. PAkistan cricket can't change for better unless this board goes. If this board stays mark my words Wahab Riaz and KAmran Akmal would be replacing Fakhar Zaman and Junaid Khan sometime later due to some outside of cricket scandal.
