Seemed very excited and happy to see a legend of the game:

We have checked with the PCB and the only conversation that happened was this:

Dahani : You are looking fit and good

Dhoni : Not really, I am getting old now

Dahani: No you are still looking fit

There was NO other conversation.

Video as below:

I am too harsh in saying that this pathetic. The Ind guys dont look at our players, and our players are fawning over them. Have some self respect

Not there fault Dhoni is a Legend whereas rauf dhani are street bowlers picked into the side without domestic matches. Its human nature.

Dahani's action is a credit to the Sindhi culture which he represents of giving izzat to his elders - in this case Dhoni who is not only a senior but a great of the game too.

Imagine if someone like that leftie Chetan met Wasim Akram. Probably would react the same way.

You got to hand it to Dahani, he knows how to butter up all the big stars of the game

Nothing pathetic...Young cricketer who yet to start his cricketing journey just getting excited looking at one of the cricketing legend infront of him..

How is this pathetic? Many Pakistani players respect Indian players because of their stature. Pakistani players dont care about the nationality they respect the quality of player.

Just because you hate Indians that is your problem

Nothing to do with hate- its called self respect. Would a young Ind player being doing the same, no chance.

I felt it was a very natural thing for an up and coming sub continent cricketer to react to a great of the game. Nothing really unusual but nevertheless great to see that kind of interaction which can only be considered positive.

He himself is a player, and there would have been better opportunities to shake hands and a have chat. Its this type fawning that makes our players freeze in matches against Ind. Have some self respect.

To be honest with you - if that was Wasim Akram walking and a young Indian bowler lurking around the boundary - I would not be too surprised if the same thing happened.

Dahani probably also did not realize that it was being recorded on a camera - not that it would have mattered for him....

Nothing to do with hate- its called self respect. Would a young Ind player being doing the same, no chance.

Any Indian bowler will react the same way if someone like Akram or Waqar comes infront of them.. n Why you linking this to self respect..Do you think Dahani will get excite and greet Shardul Thakur the same way 😂

He's in his early 20s, still very much a teen. That's harsh, irrespective of the rivalry.

Seen many Indian players do the same to Waqar and Wasim especially when they were involved with IPL. Even a superstar like Kohli shows respect whenever he sees Pak legends, saw him act chummy with ex-Pak captains before the 2016 WT20 Indo-Pak game in Kolkata, even before the 2019 WC clash he was having a long chat with Wasim. They may not interact much with their peers in the opponent camp but giving respect to seniors is a distinct South Asian trait cutting across nationality/religion.

Probably he got teased by his friends because his name is similar to Dhoni's. Just innocence of youth, needless to look into some deeper, hidden meaning when none exists.

If you come face to face when passing, then i dont see a problem, it looks pathetic this way. And almost certainly the 2Ws would have known the Ind players.

Looking at his reaction here- you never know.

People being harsh on Dahani here. Young players gets excited when they see big players in early years. Many Indian young bowlers had their fan moment when they met Wasim Akram first time in life.

Moreover a young player who just got selected for national team doesn't know for sure that he'll go on to play for years for his national team. What if Dahani gets dropped from team and never gets a chance again in life to meet players like Dhoni, Kohli, Smith etc.

Just cut him some slack guys.

I have met Dhoni and he is one of the most humble player even with normal fans. So I dont think he intentionally was trying to ignore Dahani. From the video, Dhoni was in between an important discussion with somene when Dahani called him and it took him bit off guard.

From my experience - Dhoni, Raina, Bhuvi and even Ashwin is very humble.

Kohli is arrogant as he was rude to me during 2013 CT...LOL.

Yuvraj Singh takes the cake though for being the most arrogant Indian player.

I won;t be too harsh on Dahani but he needs some counseling , when you represent your country , you should not be doing anything embarrassing like this.

Dhoni probably wouldn't know Dahani. Still he acknowledged it.

I am too harsh in saying that this pathetic. The Ind guys dont look at our players, and our players are fawning over them. Have some self respect

Lol. All he did was say Hello from far, you're acting like he went on to bow to his feet or something.

I am too harsh in saying that this pathetic. The Ind guys dont look at our players, and our players are fawning over them. Have some self respect

Yes you are. An upcoming player meeting a legend and showing respect. What's wrong. What if it was say another legend from a different country/team, would you still be posting this?

I am too harsh in saying that this pathetic. The Ind guys dont look at our players, and our players are fawning over them. Have some self respect

This is pathetic. U must see how Indians treat Wasim Akram or Shoaib Akhtar when they meet them at airports. They always get mobbed

Fans seeing some one famous isnt the same as a current player seeing a current player. Dahani isnt a child, he represents a nation.

Am I the only one who thinks that Dhani might have a liking towards Dhoni because their names sound similiar? In fact the first time I heard about this player, I thought that's funny, his name sounds similar to Dhoni.

I know it's weird but I would have a liking towards someone too if he shared my name or had a similar name and was an absolute legend of the game.

Lmao what did Kohli do to you..

I thought he was Balochi for some reason.

This is clear hate.

They are not army soldiers..

They play sports and there is that respect amongest the players.
Indian players respect waseem akram alot.

Why should dhani care if some other indian player woul say hi to a pakistani player. That is not his problem.

Dhoni is a legend at the end of the day

Fans seeing some one famous isnt the same as a current player seeing a current player. Dahani isnt a child, he represents a nation.

This isnt war and nor are they army officiers.

Its freaken sports for gods sake.

The hate you guys have is quite evident

Nothing wrong with this.

Dhoni is an ATG and very well respected in the cricketing community. I'm sure a young Indian player would do the same if they crossed paths with a Pakistani legend.

Nothing to do with hate- its called self respect. Would a young Ind player being doing the same, no chance.

Pakistan hasn't produced a player who can elicit such a reaction from a young player, Indian or otherwise, in a long time. If Pakistan still produced players of that caliber then there would be young players excited to meet them for the first time as well.

There is a video of Phil Foden, one of the best young footballers in the world, literally shaking and trembling when asking for Neymar's shirt post-match. It's natural when you are just starting out in your career and you come face-to-face with one of the legends of your profession. It's called admiration. Nothing to do with nationality. Just shows your cheap mentality.

Lmao what did Kohli do to you..

CT 2013 and it was after Ind vs Sl warm up game in Birmingham where he rudely rejected my offer of a selfie.

Then I approached Raina and Dhoni and both of them were pretty cool with it. Raina even chatted with few of us.

Then I see same Kohli is taking selfies with some female fans with full smile in his face :asif

This wasn't a meeting, this was one guy fawning over another on the eve of a match between the 2 countries. If they were walking past each other then it's fine to acknowledge and shake hands but this was just pathetic.

Just because Indian fans have stopped respecting Dhoni, it doesn't mean others can't get excited when they see him. It is pretty common behaviour when you spot a legend like Dhoni. Although I will be surprised if I see someone like Suryakumar Yadav walk upto Mohammed Hafeez or Shoaib Malik with the same excitement when he sees them. :inti

You may be right. In the current Pak squad, there aren't any legends. Babar, Shaheen, Fakhar, Rizwan and Hasan Ali are great and potential legends but someone like Hafeez and Malik don't really inspire young upcoming players across the world (and in India). The closest to a legend in the Pak camp are the coaches and consultants: Hayden, Philander, Saqlain and Razzaq.

I doubt most Pakistani fans will get excited when they see Hafeez or Shoaib Malik :P

Well I hope Bewal Express doesn't watch this video lol, he might pop a vessel.

I saw a Pakistani player who went out of his way to have a handshake with Rohit and Jadeja as they reached near the Pakistani players, can't identify who though. Looked a bit like Faheem Ashraf.

Shoaib Akhtar was probably the last Pakistani player who could elicit such a reaction from Inidan players / fans

True. Shoaib, Shahid Afridi had crazy fan following among Indians.

However Inzamam, Misbah, Younis and Yousuf commanded respect among Indian players.

Shoaib Akhtar was probably the last Pakistani player who could elicit such a reaction from Inidan players / fans

whats wrong with it, some peeps i tell you, relax, they are playing a sports, yes politics gets involved into the sport sometimes but thats at the higher level, at the ground level its different, players respect each other. I am sure soon the story/vid will emerge where dhoni spoke with him or gave him due time.

maybe you would have been correct if we heard our players talk about being in ipl, or other non stop mentioning of indian players, that was and is annoying, but players chit chatting or wanting to say hello to a great player which dhoni is, then there is nothing wrong in it. it is easy to make remarks behind a keyboard, where in reality if it was you, you would have prob mugged dhoni...

Nothing to do with hate- its called self respect. Would a young Ind player being doing the same, no chance.

which player in our current squad demands respect that other players would come running to them? babar is good and headed to greatness, just not there yet where other players will get butterflies seeing him...

I am too harsh in saying that this pathetic. The Ind guys dont look at our players, and our players are fawning over them. Have some self respect

lol, at least MSD waved his hand to acknowledge Dahani
Just think if Dahani waving hand at Wasim Akram/Akhtar / Waqar Younis; not only they would have ignored him but also might have abused him

Its all about $$$; IPL is going to become a monster league (after Man U interests); and everyone in Pakistan knows about it, so they try their best to butter them no matter what

Our ex cricketers are busy buttering Indian players, officials , ex players in UAE these days

I am going to be brutally honest here, the behaviour of Dahani as shown in this video exemplifies the very reason why we freeze against Ind. These guys need to be dignified

Dhani probably watched matches when Dhoni played in Pakistan, he grew up watching Dhoni, thats why the excitement, also Dhoni is on mentor role more so and not as a player so this should be good.

I can imagine Sachin feeling the same with Viv.

I am going to be brutally honest here, the behaviour of Dahani as shown in this video exemplifies the very reason why we freeze against Ind. These guys need to be dignified

again, how does waving your hand to a player makes you lose dignity?

The fact that this harmless and inoffensive gesture bothers you so much, wonder what complex that can be termed as

We are playing a country that hates our very existence. You guys quite literally remind us every day that Ind doesn't play us because we might earn from it. So why should our players be even looking in the direction of the Ind players before matches.

When we had the upper hand, I still never saw the Ind players look beaten before the game was played, our players look beaten before a ball is bowled. It took a player from the services to show some pride. Take pride and play with passion, the result will be what it will be.

bhai just admit you made a silly statement, its ok we all end up being wrong footed sometimes, if you continue on it will just make you come across even worse, there is no shame in waving or saying hello to your fav players or greats of the games, had he waived at a ishan kishan, rahul (spinner) or shardal etc type player, you might had a point, but this is a bit far fetched.

No, to me Dahani looked pathetic. He should have showed some izzat and stop looking like a child. He is representing PK, and not in the ground as a fan.

Exactly , that's my point too. Looks like if Dhoni had showed some warm reaction to Dahani, he would have jumped the fence and ran to touch his feet, pathetic , embarrassing and lacking self respect.

As a said earlier if Dhoni and Dahani came face to face then it's just courtesy to acknowledge someone but an international player fawning over an opponent lacks ghairat.

? how is this embarrassing? He is not going for war here.

Its you people that have made Pak vs Ind a very big thing when it reality it isnt. Its just a game.

Just because you have hate for another country, doesnt mean that others should also be like you.

Stop identifying athletes as proxy soldiers

now you are talking about ghairat..... Stop making athletes as proxy soldiers.

If you have such issues, than work hard and be capable enough to be able to represent the nation and be able to pull off things that to you means ghairat is being defended.

You have no right to talk about the ghairat of someone who has worked hard to reach a place where he is today

I am the son of a poor soldier, we live simple lives, where izzat, ghairat and halal are common words. I expect our players should behave with courtesy and dignity and not fawn over opponents, especially when the opponents use cricket as a political tool.
You are confusing ghairat with talent. He represents PK, if he can't accept the responsibility, he should stick to playing for Sindh in the domestic scene.

im not confusing ghairat with anything.

Dahani has worked hard to achieve to be where he is. You are no one to talk about his ghairat. Atleast one should reach his level.

He is not an army soldier, he is a sportsmen who did nothing wrong by showing respect to another sportsmen who is considered one of the best captains cricket ever produced.

Soldiers and national players both represent the country and both have the responsibility of safeguarding country's pride and honor. Its that simple. Dahani behaved like a cricket fan from street who wanted a selfie with Dhoni whatever it would take.

Crickets work hard to reach to the national level to make country proud, not to let it down like Dahani did .

he let no one down. Out of all the people in the world, Dhani would know better about hard work i guess.

Soldiers and Sportsmen are not the same thing. Thats like comparing Usain Bolt and military soldier.

Whenever Usain Bolt went to the Olympics, he kept that happy going personality and was always in a fun mood. The guy had chicken nuggets before his race in Beijing. God Forbid if a Pakistani player says that and they lose, people will talk about his ghairat and comitment.

This what happens each time during India vs Pakistan. For some reason its about the honor for you guys, when reality its a sport.

I dint see anything wrong in what Dhani did, that is stature of Dhoni in world cricket.

And sorry to say this, hafeez or malik don't enjoy this stature irrespective of their experience and age.

But wasim Akram or imran khan will get a similar reaction by young Indian player.

I guess there would have been a thread as well if Dhani did not react after seeing Dhoni with title arrogant lol. no difference between click bait media and this forum

I'd be more concerned if it was a current opposition player. The reality is Dhoni is a very high profile former Indian player who Dahani obviously has a lot of admiration for.

No, to me Dahani looked pathetic. He should have showed some izzat and stop looking like a child. He is representing PK, and not in the ground as a fan.

Come on dude. Theres ZERO harm in showing respect to a legend of the game. MS Dhoni, Kapil Paa jee, Virat Kohli - all three are heavily respected in Pakistan amongst many other indian cricketers. Please dont act like BJP.

In my opinion, there appears to be a strong validity to both sides of the debate, but since the contents of dhoni & dhanis exchange are indiscernible, it would only be fair to call the debate an even-steven.

Tbh I have always found Dhani a bit of a clown with his cringe celebrations and now this. This is embarrassing to say the least. He’s representing Pakistan and is looking like a child.

As far as my knowledge of geography and history goes , Jamaican are lucky not to have a neighboring country with sole moto of destroying his home country . Is Dhoni not a captain in Indian army ( not full time , or honorary ) no wonder he gave a very cold shoulder to the embarrassing and naive kid ( behaved like one ) Dahani.

Jamaicans do have to face hate for their skin color in certain parts of the world. Does that make Usain Bolt to act rude with everyone.

Is Dhoni or Kohli trying to destroy your country?

Dhani has worked hard to reach the level where here is today, but here we have people judging his honor...

Ghairat is about self respect, based on your logic you have to be an international player to have ghairat. Maybe you have to wait until you reach that level to have some ghairat but I owe nothing to anyone, no politician, no family member and no one in my profession.

This is a sad thread. No wonder the countries don’t get along. Can never look past the hate.

Dahani's action is a credit to the Sindhi culture which he represents of giving izzat to his elders - in this case Dhoni who is not only a senior but a great of the game too.

TBH the giving izzat to ones elders is not a monopoly of sindhi culture, its widespread across the subcontinent, most definately in the 6 states of india where my heritage and upbringing is spread across.
We are judging a 3 dimensional event based on a 2 dimensional screen in front off us. Its quite possible MSD and the other indian guy were engrossed in their conversation and walking straight to miss Dahnani who was on the fence. I thought MSD reciprocated nicely and also spoke and acknowledged the other pak guy who was on the left but on the other side of the fence.

The usual same narrative you are quoting, without any specifics.
I remember in Gwalior in 1998, when Pak team was touring , i was lucky to be in stadium durign practice and saw all members of the some ranji side fawning over the pak cricketers.
