[Video] "You can get on top of Pakistan pretty easily without Babar Azam's runs" : Faf du Plessis

Do you follow cricket matches on cricinfo or actually watch them?

I watched his batting. He hit a few crisp boundaries and then played a dumb shot minutes before close of play, showing an astonishing level of lack of match-awareness.

If he had any cricketing sense and situational awareness, he would have continued to block and survive through the day and start fresh tomorrow.

That little passage of play explained why he never will be a top cricketers. He does not have the brains in addition to the mediocre talent that he possesses.

This quote reminds me of the Big 3 play the best cricket against each other thread

Whatever floats your boat.

No one is claiming Faheem is world class as you would like to believe Pakistan fans doing so. We are simply saying Faf’s comment is as dumb as they come, proven wrong again.

Mediocrity doesn’t float my boat. I know our standards are embarrassingly low, but a couple of half-centuries and exhibitions of dumb tactics is not enough to create chants and start 20 threads to talk about “improvement”.

Mediocre or not, he has already sent you a load of pies, given he was "not even a cricketer" to begin with and was called out as a "laughing stock".

Must be some low standard pies if they are being served after a couple of half-centuries and 20s and 30s.

I have fine taste so perhaps I should be anticipating some luxurious stuff. If you are serving cheap stuff to me perhaps it means that you do not expect Faheem to go beyond his current level.

Du Plessis on Babar Azam:

"I think all great players evolve their careers at different points," he said. "We know Babar as one of the world's best players for a very long time. I think the game of T20 cricket has moved so fast forward into strike rates that he's found himself a little bit behind in terms of strike rates.

"If you're Mike Hesson, you're trying to find the best way to introduce him into the game. On tricky surfaces, there is a role for someone to play in the 120-130 strike rate. Hesson would have thought, 'how can I get the best out of Babar Azam?' The game has moved too far forward to be at 120-130. Now, you need to be 160 to 190 to 200-plus for you to maximise that first six."

I am more interested in why no franchise picked him in PSL? Did he pull out?

Great analysis

1. He is wrong

2. He is clearly disconnected with Pakistan cricket

3. He’s just being nice instead of saying it as it is.

Babar plays as a 120-130 sr player when he gets his little headstart as an opener in the powerplay. There is no real way or proof that he hits the ground running as a 120-130 sr player in the middle order, that too on tacky spin wickets.
