Abdul Razzaq: Chris Gayle ki yaad aa gayi!

Last edited:
Yes, just like Ahmed Shehzad is more talented than Sachin Tendulkar. Right, Razzaq? This guy is irrelevant.

What we've learned in last few painful years is to never take Razzaq's comparisons seriously. If you hear your name being compared to a Sachin, Gayle or any other popular name by this man, you can assume your career will only go downhill from wherever you are.

Pretty clean bat swing and balance but what's with these damn squat techniques. Stand up straight.

Let's see how he does on sluggish UAE pitches where it's harder to hit through the line.

Hope he gets good game time in PSL.

Always look at keepers in domestic to replace the dreadfull Sarfraz, everytime I check theres a god dam Akmal behind the stumps!!

Not impressed from that vid.

Hit sixes against the spinners and that was pretty much it.

Seen Imam and Sami hit the spinners like that is well.

No big shot against the pacers either.

To early to say anything, he didn't strike well while facing pacers, however pretty clean hitting.

When Razzaq speaks, you don't listen.

Can't take him seriously when he said Shehzad was more talented than Tendulkar.

Not Gayle, but his shots look a lot similar to what Sharjeel used to play.

Dean Jones has likened Rizwan to Sharjeel Khan.

No he scored 500 odd runs in the season where saad ali got 900 runs in those difficult condition and most of matches were low scoring where he got runs so he is a talent definitely he deserved go in A side after that season

He has a lot of Sharjeel in him , specially that slog sweep over mid-wicket.

Made 126 off 187 balls on FC debut (opening the batting in the fourth innings) against KRL (Abbas and Sadaf were playing). http://pcboard.com.pk/Pakistan/Scorecards/1003/1003047.html

138 off 169 balls against PTV last season (Dukes balls). http://pcboard.com.pk/Pakistan/Scorecards/1044/1044351.html

63 against HBL last season (Dukes) at LCCA Ground. No one else in the match managed a fifty. http://pcboard.com.pk/Pakistan/Scorecards/1044/1044367.html

97 against Multan this season, highest score in the match to help his team to a narrow win. http://pcboard.com.pk/Pakistan/Scorecards/1087/1087610.html

94 against Rawalpindi this season, again the top scorer as his team won. http://pcboard.com.pk/Pakistan/Scorecards/1087/1087618.html

--------------------------

He has mostly opened the batting in FC cricket which explains the low FC average. There are barely any openers in recent times who have a decent average

Looks like a decent talent. Only time will tell however.

On a side note, Razzaq shouldn't be near a commentary box. He's a horrible commentator. It shouldn't be a must that a commentator has played cricket. Professionalism should be the main factor.

Surely PTV must be aware of their poor cameras, just use AliExpress and get better cameras to broadcast, this is just embarrassing

He did nothing special in that vid.

I don't know why you're bringing in the 500 run stat, when it doesn't even show us his "big hitting" ability either.

Also, his domestic stats look atrocious.

Straight drive for four against Junaid Khan, then back foot off-drive next ball, another four, effortless timing.

He is a quality talent for sure.

Anybody who cannot see future potential and sheer quality in Rizwan doesn't have the eye.

Razzaq was right about Ahmed Shehzad but He fell apart. Him felling apart is not Razzaq's mistake.

Even India has examples of players falling apart.

Vinod Kambli is prime example.

Looks very good and he's young which is even better plus can play pace and spin too. Exciting.

Stands very still and has a very smooth swing of the bat. Not enough on display vs pacers.

Yes He has all the ingredients to be a success modern day batsman but he is a work in progress.

I am sure that trio of Mudassar, Mushtaq & Mansoor will call him to NCA soon after this tournament and will develop his skillset further.

I would have loved to see Arif Khan turn out for this tournament. DRsohail any ideas about his whereabouts ? Abdur Rehman should have picked him for Peshawar.

Please do a talent spotter with this guy :)

;-)

Looks impressive, but need to practice more on short pitch bowling which i think is his weak zone.

Every six off of Arsal Sheikh brings me immense joy.

he hit those sixes against imad sohail Sohail Kahn and Junaid, though against Junaid were fours but more impressive , good talent. Was scoring heavily in last I mean 2017 QEA trophy ok low scoring wicekts. LQ has got a good pick.

Pakistan's only unleashing hacks of the highest order who can just about make a career in T20 and T10.

Squat positions :))

Gone are the days when you would see the batsman with a still head position and a bit up right facing as you'd expect them in other forms of the game.

Would love to see him opening the innings with Fakhar atleast for T20

He's an effortless timer of the ball. Others, including Imad, mistimed countless swipes in the same match... this lad was a class above the rest today, a very clean hitter (importantly, against both pace and spin).

He should open with Fakhar in LOIs. Can't do worse than Imam.

He needs some technical work done but the potential is there for sure.

See #25.

He has an average record, overall. So far, at least. It's annoying that pretty much all domestic openers average in the low to mid 30s.
Just saw his stats. That is a pretty ordinary List A average. The sample set is good enough to determine that he has flopped massively in List A cricket so far. Aren't the pitches for List A cricket in Pakistan quite flat? Considering the mediocre likes of Khurram Manzoor score bucketload of runs in List A cricket.

Yeah the List A record is pretty poor so far. He has only been playing regular domestic cricket since the last year or so, so there's still lots of time for him to turn it around.

Goes to show how great the recruitment is at Islamabad United. Nobody had even heard of this guy before the National T20 yet ISB recruiters (Hassan and Rehan) have him at ISB. I believe non-cricketers have a better eye for talent than these Aqib Javed's, Basit Ali's, Nadeem Khan's et al. Hassan and Rehan would be great national selectors.

Good to see you posting.

Long time no see.

No.

Too early for him. Needs to play in the PSL first. Let's see how he does there, under pressure + against better bowlers.

Checked his 50-over record today at lower age levels and it's looking pretty bad so far.

Meanwhile, two fours down the ground against Zulfi Babar.

Batting now, some good shots on offside. However, opposition sides are setting wrong fields to him.

Irfan sr (7'1") bowling in all the right areas and Rizwan is swiping across the line.

He is obviously very talented, but opposition sides are helping him out by bowling to his strength and setting the wrong fields. Will write a more detailed post on this.

But seriously, what are coaches/analysts being paid to do?

Batting on 29* atm. Waiting to see how he plays now in chasing when his team is not doing great with the bat.

Playing another lovely knock in a match where the rest appear to be clueless. He really makes hitting look effortless.

It’s hard for me judge a player from a tournament in which Khurram Manzoor is the highest run getter. HIs list A average is very poor and his first class average don’t inspire a lot of confidence.

Looks another spin basher

Hamza Bhai koi narazgi hai Rizwan se ?

I have seen him bat in all games. He has played v well against pace and spin.

He is a quality talent.

Powerhouse hai with sense aswell.
