He has always been a poor umpire. Some of the wrong decisions he has given in the past are atrocious. Here is one -
No wonder, the late, great Shane Warne called him a poor umpire.
he was not a poor umpire. THere is a reason why he got awards by ICC and broke Taufels monopoly....
Anyone can pick a single bad decision from the past.
Its just recently, he hasn't be consisstent. He would give 90percent accurate decision in tournament, but now he is hacing howlers.
Looks like age is catching up to the once great umpire
A batsman edges it to the first slip, and he is adjudged not out? There's a difference between a bad decision, and a blind-as-a-bat decision by the umpire.
There are mnay such decisions by every umpire. This thread isnt to discuss some decison 20 years ago plz.
He was a great a umpire, but his age is catching up

Not everything that goes to the slips comes off the bat…
It’s much easier to make a decision whilst watching on TV and on repeat, try standing 20 yards away and making the call in real time.
If you look at that Broad incident, it looks like it could’ve ricochet off the keepers gloves and gone towards slip, which I’m sure Aleem must’ve thought as well.
You have to be really new to cricket if you think that ball ricochets off the keeper gloves and goes to slip when a pacer is bowling while it's not too obvious to notice.
Broad incident happened when a spinner was bowling.

I got my answer from cricinfo article https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.es...elax-travel-restrictions-1310322?platform=ampSorry offtopic.. I thought there was the rule that no home umpire in test matches. Is that rule changed now?
It is looks like a clear out on TV. However in real life it doesn't, the batter moved away from the ball and the ball seems to follow the path of away swing, it is also round the wicket to the right hander. The movement of the batter and the natural trajectory of the away swing confused Aleem Dar.
However it is a mistake on his part. It is for decisions like these DRS was introduced.
To be fair, it did look not out in real time.
But he's made quite a few mistakes recently. Some terrible ones too.
Getting some stick for calling time due to badlight yesterday but think it was correct as light looked bad
On Aleem's watch

Hope he don't go the Bucknor way.
