Imad was captain we'd have won in 2021 and 2022. Simple. Guy is smart and a beast hitter aswell now. Must play in India.

The question becomes who is responsible for selecting Haider, Malik and Cutting? Imad and Wasim placed the entire blame for the last season on Babar and replaced him with Haider and Malik. Now, Imad and Co have the team they wanted yet Karachi continues to lose. Who's to blame for that? Certainly not Babar as Peshawar is off to a good start.

Unfortunately Babar lobby are willfully blind. Will cost us the WC and numerous Test series.
You are stating the obvious regarding selection.
However the point is if Haider wasn't given a chance, people would be slating them for not giving him a chance.
When he's out there batting, he's played enough to know what to do, Imad cannot hold the bat for him.

Yes, but that goes for any captain. What captains can do, is to man manage and motivate their players to perform better than themselves. Imad isn’t exactly proving to be Alex Ferguson in the motivational department, is he?
As if Pakistan cricket is full of Alex Fergusons in the motivational department.
If we had those type of people then we wouldn't be in such a mess at the national level.

That is not in doubt, however Imad’s PR machine had rewritten history about him being this great captain, this immense mentality monster. I don’t doubt that he can personally motivate himself and kudos to him.
However, he has not shown anything to suggest that he’s a great captain or even a good one.
Imad deserves to be in the t20s and odis squad he's been the outstanding player with both bat and ball.
Imad the captain has been poor how an earth does Shamsi not get in the xi.
Why was Qasim Akram played in the wrong position and then dropped after 1 game.

He cant hold the bat for them but he can as captain either get the best out of them or bench them which he isnt doing

Karachi picked haider ali as a platinum pick and Imad before the tournament was talking a great game as captain
Last year babar was blamed for the failure of the team so should imad accept responsiblity for the failure and these silly decisions this year?

It's bit rich for a Misbah fan to come up with this because believe it or not Imad is actually a better white ball batsman than what Misbah ever was. They both have almost the same ODI average but Imad's strike rate is more than 50% higher.
You know the way your hero choked in Mohali? The same would have occurred to him had he played against Afghanistan in the 2019 WC. Misbah couldn't even finish it off against a policeman called Joginder Sharma in the WT20 2007 final.

Ben Cutting isn't the same player I've seen from previous seasons.
I don't know if it's because he's out of form or if his reflexes have now gone (as he's 36) but from what I've also seen of him, his heart just isn't it anymore. I don't know if it's just me though?

Ok, whilst acknowledging Imad’s immense personal performances, let’s frame it this way:
Do you think Imad has outcaptained Babar in this PSL, by a large margin? Do you think he’s out captained any of the others?
I’m willing to ignore results and give credit for intelligent bowling changes, motivating players to be the best version of themselves, aggressive field placings. Has Imad shown any of this?
Without resorting to whataboutism, do you think Imad has shown anything to suggest a wide differential Vs Babar, given the above criteria?

Looks like he saw Rizwan on the rampage and thought 'no thanks'.
Not a great message to his team that the captain prefers to lead from the back and send everyone else in as fodder.

I don't think either of them have been great shakes in terms of captaincy at PSL 8 so far. But one would expect your national captain to be the standout when it comes to captaincy, which he hasn't been.
For me, the best skipper by a clear margin has been Rizwan.

Interesting observation. Was travelling so didn’t see this but very cowardly indeed. He is the first to bowl his quota when wickets go down. Very cowardly and he is protecting himself to get in contention for national selection again. Total coward and toxic personality who should be kept away from the team.
Imad choked again as usual and was hiding himself in bowling. A gutless cricketer. The drama of him being a good batsmen will soon be over. In fact he was also one of the reason they lost today as he was going at a run a ball against proper bowlers.
As I said he’s a gutless cricketer. He’s fluked a couple of decent performances with the bat.

Imad has a habit of doing this and have chickened out many times in the past
He is just a puppet who only listens to Wasim Akram and does exactly what he wants him to do
Should have picked Shamsi not sure why is he warming the bench

Imad has been in great form this PSL, not sure if he has worked on his weaknesses or it is just he is pumped up to silence selectors with performance. Nevertheless deserves a chance basis his batting in place of Nawaz, but he is no superior to Nawaz when it comes to bowling.

I think he has been the player of the tournament so far. But his inability to finish off matches is concerning. Especially since that is the role he will likely be playing if he ever makes it back to the Pakistan team.

Cutting, Malik and Haider at the other end have been striking at 100, but still Imad should strike at 500 to make up for the garbage players.

His bowling aside (His T20 bowling was never under question), I always thought he could be a solid no 6 (Batting all rounder) considering the other options or lack of we have had especially if we consider that we will have Shadab and Nawaz to follow. That would give 3 spin bowling options as well as good batting depth to go with 3 seamers. Him coming but up the order has allowed him to showcase his batting more which I believe has been underutilized and he has underachieved in.

You could accommodate both Imad and one between Shadab/Nawaz (I'd go for Shadab as Imad already offers the left-arm spin), as you said Imad is a batting AR while other 2 are bowling ARs, basically, they have different roles, the problem is Pakistan doesn't seem to have the mentality for a batting AR, we always look for a bowling AR (esp fast bowling AR), perhaps the long-term Imran Khan effect, but considering our weak batting (middle) order it's the batting ARs like Imad who should be (more) prioritized.
Not even that many batting ARs going around with the national XI right now anyway, apart from Imad perhaps just Agha Salman, and at domestic level too not that many options either.

Agreed and it's exactly what I've been saying for a while on here.
I think there's a misconception that he's primarily left-arm spinner which has created the notion that only one of Imad and Nawaz can be in the team which I don't agree with.
If you look at his ODI and FC batting stats. He averages above 40 in both of these formats and has a commendable strike rate in the former.
Imad walks into Pakistan's side as a batsman alone.
I do think Nawaz is a more potent wicket taking spinner so there is room for him primarily as a bowler who can bat somwhere around 8. I don't think he's good enough to bat anywhere higher than that in white ball cricket.

Imad was in the position to finish the match off twice and he failed to do so. You can blame all the other players, and rightfully so. But as the captain and an in-form player Imad has a greater responsibility to deliver. Especially when he is there at the end and playing the role of the finisher.
At the end of the day, hitting 50s or striking over 150 is irrelevant if you can't win your team the game.

Imad deserves to be back in the squad based on his performances. However, it doesn’t take a high IQ to understand that you should never bad mouth your teammates in public. Imad did that. That’s not being soft, it’s having an objective view.

Nawaz hasn't looked the same since that final over against India. Imad has outperformed him so far in the PSL (his competitor in the national team). Should be called back in the t20 squad. Not sure how it will go considering the bad blood between him and babar.
His bowling is still concerning and situational. He has to finish his quota around 12 overs which takes the flexibility away from other bowlers. On the other hand, Nawaz (even at his best) isn't really a successful powerplay bowler.

Because Babar has made a career out of it. He’s done it numerous times. All Babar does is let the opposition off the hook once we have them on the ropes.

Because of Imad's captaincy in the field, Karachi are looking at the possibility of not making it to the play offs;
Babar won the game with his captaincy on a pitch which was supposed to be a road.
Imad is a decent captain but he messed up big time and this could be costly.

Nawaz is an infinitely better bowler than Imad the darter. You need to unpack Imad's ODI bowling numbers to fully understand just how much of an ineffective bowler he really is in that format.
But that said, Imad should be in the team as a batting all-rounder. His hitting ability is miles ahead of most in this team. And he has the capability to stay at the crease if the situation demands so too. Not to mention, he has earned a recall based on his performance in this PSL.
Thiers no way they can not pick him in the squad.

With all due respect, I think it's a bit rich coming from a Misbah fan to claim these are "pressure free" runs when Imad has been scoring runs in virtually every game at a good strike rate.
At first, you claimed he had "fluked" his runs, now you're claiming he scores "pressure free" runs. I find the latter ironic because Misbah made a career from scoring soft runs. I'll never forget all those 50s he scored at such a low strike rate.
So what's the next excuse for Imad's innings today?

He did exceptionally well today as I hoped he would and played elite cricket.

He has shown up Nawaz in this PSL. His body language is very reassuring and he looks like someone who can be relied upon with the bat out in the middle.

Imad usually has a tendency of bowling bad when he bats will, or bat poorly when he bowls well.

It's not my fault that you find it difficult to understand things.
I've been backing Imad on this forum for a long time.
However, good players need to be held to higher standards and he should come up the order and win games for his side.
I don't see anything wrong with that.

I see what you're saying but he is a lower middle order batsman. I don't think he's a number 3 or a number 4. Certainly not an opener! Number 5 is perfect for Imad in T20s (and number 6 for ODIs). He should bat where he likes. Having said that Shoaib Malik isn't doing anything at number 4.

Get him in the limited-overs team. Don't care about his bowling, his batting could be a real asset right now. Would be stupid not to capitalize on someone being in red-hot form.

Number 5 is too high for Imad in international cricket.
I can easily him at no.7 or 8 though.
