I think we need to use the experience of the JF-17 to build a new twin engine jet that will give us deeper penetration and will be essential for our naval defense as well. I heard the Block 3 is going to be very advanced and it uses top of the line radar tech acquired through Turkish help. Pak has had alot more design input in Block 3 than in any other blocks. There is talk that Block 4 and 5 might be completely in-house.

A dual engine JF-17 (will have to be another model number JF-18 perhaps) can essentially sink the INS Vikrant, which I think is the biggest threat that India has.

PAF will acquire a version FC-31 as interim and then whatever is the result of Project Azm (collaboration with Turkey on a stealth fighter).

BTW INS Vikrant has been decommissioned. Two carriers India has is ex HMS Hermes (INS Viraat) and ex Gorskov (IND Vikramandithya).

Viraat can only carry sub sonic Sea Harriers which they will not be bringing even remotely close to our SLOC. Vikramandithya does carry Mig29s. However No 2/4 Sqn Jf-17 carry CMK-400 AKG supersonic anti ship cruise missiles. Which are more than capable for the task.

It was comical as we kept paying and General Dynamics kept building but US Gov would not deliver them saying wait until we get a waiver for Nuclear certification. Pakistan stopped ayment after 627Million. The 28 aircraft were mothballed at Davis Mothan AFB in Arizona and Pakistan refunded the 627 Million in shape of soy beans!
The 28 were subsequently delivered from USAF stocks after 9/11. Pakistan also got another 24 ex Jordian F-16s and then 18 Blk 52 in 2010. All aircraft were MLU'd in Turkey none bar 1 went to US due to the fact that US could block them.

Yes, PAF wanted a plane that was similar in performance to the F-16. But aerodynamics are totally different. Cranked arrow (leading strakes like F-18) and DSI intakes. What needs to happen is use of more composite materials to make it lighter,replace rd-33 turbojet with WS-13 and AESA radar.

Supposedly it was a mix formation that included Su30MKIs & M2k. You do need to ask why the Mig21 pilot bore in for the engagement inside Pak airspace?
Both shots were BVR engagements no dogfight took place. Both were "officially" JF-17/SD10 BVR kills.

The whole IAF narrative that Mig21 scored an F-16 kill relies on the premise the Mig21 got within visual range of an F-16 around 8-10 miles to fire an IR guided R-73. F-16s (if involved) could have engaged from well inside Pakistan 40-60 miles (not km). AIM-120's max range is 70 miles.
I have a feeling that the F-16s were well inside Pakistan providing cover to the the Erieye AEW but the actualy engagement happened with JF-17 firing SD-10s

Their military budget is around $800 billion compared to Pakistan's $9-10 billion (80-90 times) and India's $50 billion (16 times). Investigation regarding the use of F 16 has been started by Americans & their embassy in Pakistan is also looking these matters so it's not far that this F16 issue will get resolved.

The Indian forces have a history of never confirming anything but making claims unfortuantely. Therefore the pinch of salt has to be employed regularly when they make such statements.

Pakistan successfully test fires extended range missile from JF-17 Thunder

Islamabad: Pakistan Air Force successfully test fired indigenously developed extended range smart weapon from JF-17 multi-role fighter aircraft, today.

It is indeed a great milestone as the weapon has been developed, integrated and qualified solely through indigenous efforts of Pakistani scientists and engineers.

The successful trial has provided JF-17 Thunder a very potent and assured day and night capability to engage variety of targets with pinpoint accuracy.

I'm not sure what the PT-08 would mean.


Then saw this imagine and it has the same canted tail in the background and a sharper, stleathier nose (which could be seen in first pic as well)

These are photoshopped "renditions" with twin tales etc.

Blk 3 will have an elongated and wider nose cone, an additional chin point for ASELPOD and a dorsal spine for additional EW components. Other modifications are using more composite materials to reduce weight.
