"I have no problem saying I had a bad phase of my career, but there's no time for regrets," he told a press conference ahead of Portugal's Euro 2024 qualifier against Liechtenstein.
Life goes on and, doing well or not, it was part of my growth. When we are at the top of the mountain, we often cannot see what is below.
"Now, I'm more prepared and learning that was important, because I had never been through this, like in the last few months. Now I'm a better man."

"But they need to improve a little bit more the infrastructure. Even the referees, the VAR system, should be a little quicker."

In a social media video announcing the partnership, Ronaldo told would-be investors "we are going to change the NFT game and take football to the next level".
The cheapest NFT from the collection was priced at $77 when it went on sale in November 2022 - but one year later, it was priced at about $1.
The claimants allege that Ronaldo's promotion of Binance led to a "500% increase in searches" for the crypto exchange, which is registered in the Cayman Islands.
They also say it led people to use the firm to invest in what they call "unregistered securities" - such as Binance's BNB cryptocurrency.
According to the US Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC), these assets can be considered securities - and so celebrities endorsing them must follow US law.
SEC chair Gary Gensler previously said celebrities must "disclose to the public from whom and how much you are getting paid to promote investment in securities".
"When celebrities endorse investment opportunities, including crypto-asset securities, investors should be careful to research if the investments are right for them, and they should know why celebrities are making those endorsements," he said.
The claimants allege Ronaldo should have disclosed how much he was being paid, but did not.
Nigel Green, boss of consultancy firm DeVere Group, said the problems at the heart of the case went wider than just one footballer.

Cristiano Ronaldo won multiple prizes at Friday's Globe Soccer Awards before admitting in his acceptance speech that he can be "a little bit boring".
Al Nassr striker Ronaldo collected the Best Middle East Player award, beating fellow nominees Riyad Mahrez and Mohamed El Shenawy.
The 38-year-old also won the Maradona Award for being the world's top scorer in 2023 with 54 goals in 59 games for Al Nassr and Portugal.
He was beaten by Erling Haaland to the Best Men's Player award but Ronaldo still made it a hat-trick of gongs by picking up the Fans' Favourite Player of the Year award.
Ronaldo appeared to be slightly underwhelmed when his name was called and he was revealed to be the winner of the Best Middle East Player award.
He certainly failed to match the enthusiasm of the on-stage presenter, who gave him a cringeworthy introduction.

Ronaldo, 39, was shown a straight red card on 86 minutes after appearing to swing his elbow twice into the chest of Ali Al Bulayhi, who fell to the floor.
The Portugal international then appeared to raise his first towards the referee before leaving the field.
