What's new

[VIDEOS] Do the failures in the Australia series mark the end of the Fawad Alam experiment?

His career is almost over at his age he won’t score in SENA his comeback shows he wasn’t the best test batsman but could've done a job in his prime.

The only batsman that was hard done by was Umar Akmal because of Misbah he wasn’t given a proper chance in Asia now Haider will get the same treatment from Babar seems we are immune to playing attacking batsmen in tests despite continuous mediocrity from the other batsmen.

But he's recently given a category B contract. That's for his efforts in producing 20 runs on average each innings.

Charismatic personality.

Ridiculous the weakling was selected at all. Humiliating that the weakest man to ever play international cricket was Pakistani

pakistan will just rotate between 2 failures in Fawad and Azhar. Selectors dont have the guts to drop both of these losers from the team.

We will another 2 years if we do that. They are the Hafeez and Malik of the test team, 2 journeyman past their past but the selectors opt for the devil you know.

The problem is that we hardly play test cricket. We tend to have big gaps between test series, so by the time that next test series comes around, the failures of previous series are in the distant past. That is why the likes of Azhar and Fawad keep playing.

Pakistan must move on from Fawad Alam who is another curious case just like Faisal Iqbal, Asad Shafiq, Adnan Akmal

Not included in the 18-member squad for series against England - end of the line for him?

Pathetic... based on his last 6 innings he get the axe? how many players failed in back to back tests and still kept their place? the perchi culture of pakistan cricket will never go away

He's 35+ if he was 20+ he would have still been in the squad.

same statement was used when he was 30 lol how about getting kicked out in 2009? its not only fawad the injustice in Pak cricket have ruined many cricketing careers. Those who are laughing on his stance should know he has scored more runs in domestic than anyone in the team.

As soon as reverse swing came into the game against the Aussies, he was screwed. Specially against Starc.

really? and the rest of the players scored double hundreds?
1s test he didnt get to bat in both innings
2nd test scroed 0 and 9
3rd test scored 13 and 11
played 1 test against SL scored 24 and 1 runout

above was 2022
2021 avg 57 in 9 tests played

All I am saying is based on above how can one get dropped? there are other players who get the long leash for failures lets keep the policies same for every players not based on favoritism.

fighting century in the QEA final... could comeback for NZ series after hitting 706 runs @ 64 in QEA

Fawad Alam may have left Pakistan cricket for good as per a media report

Seems that will turn up as a 'local' player for the Chicago Kingsmen in Minor League Cricket T20,

It is a disgrace that so many Pakistani players are leaving Pakistan to play cricket in USA. It shows just how bad our cricketing setup is. It also shows where we stand as a country.

As per Chicago Kingsmen website, he has already started playing

I don’t think it is a disgrace. It is actually positive news for those who are not good enough for the national team. They can make a good living and provide entertainment to the locals.

TBH Fawad had been given many chances, he failed to step up against the big boys. Australia was his boggey man. At the age of 37, you can't blame the selectors for preferring Saud Shakeel a young upcoming talent over Fawad Alam.

It's a good decision by Fawad. He has 0 chance of regaining his place in the Pakistan team and especially with the team having developed this strategy of playing at 4+ RPO in Test cricket, Fawad has no business being in the team.

So he wants to maximize his playing time and by moving to USA where he can play for another 4-5 years, he will earn income in dollars which will protect him from rupee depreciation. I wish Fawad all the best.

He should've played in place of Asad Shafiq but it wasn't meant to be. Now he's past his best and has little chance of making the national team.

Hope he has a good career in the US.

The guy waited very patiently for his chance which only came when he was well past his peak. Nobody can state Fawad didn't put the hard yards in by averaging nearly 60 every season without getting selected for the national team.

At the end of his career he has earned every right to use whatever talent he had to go and secure a living for himself and his family.

Fawad leaves but with his dignity and First Class legacy in tact.

Probably the unluckiest player I can recall in Pakistan. When Fawad Alam was at his peak, we had Asad Shafiq occupying his spot.

By the time he was given a longer run he already passed his peak.

He wasn’t given a fair chance. I respect his decision to move from a country that did nothing for him.

A few news reports indicating that Fawad has denied rumours that he's left Pakistan cricket.

What chances did he get in his prime years from 2010 to 2017?

Of course, at this point, closing in on age 40 it is too late for him.
