[VIDEOS] Does the UK have the most enthusiastic Pakistan cricket fans outside Pakistan?

Well deserved i would say.

I recall an infamous video when the team went to England for Champions Trophy in 2016 and they got abused like no tomorrow after losing every single match in the tournament.

Fans are gracious when they win but are equally savage when they perform like this.

Losing to Afghanistan, WI and having a losing streak of 12 matches? Sharam sai dhoob mar jana chahiye. Well deserved.

If you ask me, i see a repeat of the infamous 2016 CT video if they keep on performing like this.

There was no CT in 2016.

North America might have been the same or even better had Canada or USA had proper Cricket teams.

Which would mean regular tours to Canada/USA etc.

USA I doubt it, people are patriotic there and why would an American support a country where they don't live or weren't born there?

Being a Canadian I know many Pakistanis who don't even watch cricket and would rather watch hockey.

All in all, in a nationalistic society, it feels weird for British born and bred Pakistanis to support their parents country over their own.

The Pakistani support was fantastic today. They came in massive numbers when many had already lost hope. They cheered the team through out the match and out voiced the English crowd. Big props to them. Amazing atmosphere.

I'd encourage everyone to find a clip of Jos Buttler's dismissal. The roar from the crowd was like we just won the tournament !

Not a fan of booing the opposition, it sounded like a section of Pakistan fans were booing England players. did anyone else hear it?

We are all so passionate about Pakistan wherever we are in the world.

There is no other country like Pakistan.

Pakistan is a blessing from Allah.

I was at the match - can’t say I heard Pakistani fans booing the England players.

There was friendly banter between the two sets of fans, and there was even a Sikh Indian fan going from stand to stand taking photos with the Pakistan fans, which was a highlight of the day.

It was like an away match for England :)

Pakistan fans were superb and really got behind their team.

England must have been wondering what was going on - is this Nottingham or Karachi.

Unfortunate apart from India game all our game s wil look like home game but yet we keep on losing games

Is it time to change alliences to England

To all British Pakistani fans on here, what keeps you in love with the Pak team and the continued support of a team that has regressed alarmingly over the last 15 years?

A team that lacks talent, flair and can no longer compete at the highest level. A team that has been plagued with controversy over the years and a team that has always failed on the big occasions in the last 20 years bar the fluke that is cl trophy

Their DNA is based on high emotions and lacking that mental edge. We have seen numerous revamps and different versions of the pak team over the years but they all have same traits which are never going to change in our life time.

I understand why fans never had that feeling of belonging to the English back in the 90s but the teams has completely changed over the last 5 years. They play with no fear, have an inspiring captain in Morgan and the brand of cricket is dynamic and very eye catching.

Maybe its time to start supporting the English

Very fair post.

Pakistan fans in England are the best outside of Pakistan. They support the team in good numbers and show a lot of respect to the players.

Now we have Mo an Adil playing for England.

I think maybe you a right, it's time for British Pakistanis to change their support for England.

Definitely the way to go, but emotional ties are a lot harder to shake than logical ones. I don't even have much attachment to Pakistan as a country so it really is infuriating being a fan. Would love to ditch them in theory, but reality is a different story. Never been a fair weather fan either in football or cricket.

Its only a game of cricket, no need to question your entire identiy lol.

You're a Pakistani(as you claim) but those who are both British and have a Pakistani background should seriously consider supporting England, for years this team has let down fans here.

Glory hunters should pick India. They have more chances of winning trophies than england in coming years.

Good.

Nicely sets up the India-England encounter now :23:

Tough one but I think we can trouble England with our spin on a big stage.

Need to make few corrections in team..

1.Rohit and Rahul running between the wickets need to corrected.

2. Fielding needed improved.

3. Middle order should be strong.

Ian Smith before the game vs New Zealand: "What about the 12th man that we should factor in here, it's called Pakistan in Birmingham!":ma

Amazing atmosphere today.

Only a few NZ fans, the rest Pakistani.

Sea of green at Edgbaston.

great atmosphere we should make uk our cricketing home until team starts visiting our country rather than uae

You won't get a better atmosphere in the world cup final. Some of these Pakistan players won't have ever known what it is like to play in front of a home crowd. Hope they enjoyed it.

Congrats to all Pakistan fans! and as always the fans in Brum create a magical atmosphere! incredible, even from the telly you have to appreciate the 12th man which was the crowd, hope we get this support in the remaining games as well.

No atmosphere has been able to replicate the Pak v NZ game, incredible; one of the greatest ever has to be up there across all sports

Amazing Electric Atmosphere.

I honestly believe this played a part in Pakistan winning this match because NZ were favourites today.

It may well have been Babar's home city of Lahore! hope the kid enjoyed it a great deal, funny calling him a kid but he batted like a real dream who had been playing this game for years and years

Brum is always a special atmosphere for Pakistan games, only one that could compare was the 1999 semi-final at Old Trafford which was amazing.

Another one Trend Bridge for the 2009 World T20 Semi-Final between Pak and SA, that was on par with the atmosphere today if not better

Lol Saturday going to be just as crazy. But there will be more Afghanistan supporters than there were NZ fans today.

I hope so. There won't be more Afghanistan fans than our fans though right?

There’s plenty of Asian contingent in Yorkshire, so I am expecting a lot of Pakistan fans. Not a big Afghanistan contingent in Yorkshire.

I would expect us to outnumber them.

Ah, I see. And what about the Bangladesh game at Lord's?

Amazing scenes today . All the fans gave great support to the team . Bham is still lively right now , people dancing on the streets .

Get behind our team and they respond .

Only negative is the wait for food now , so busy !

Babar did us proud, stadium erupted for his 100 .

NZ unbeaten but faced us in Bham . Expected result

Nothing like a night on the town after a big win in a city with a decent Pakistani population. I'll bet it's jumping.

Magnificent. Best atmosphere I can remember in years.

Also immense for our players to feel so much support too.

It is , Edgbaston is such a ground fans support makes a difference & today the Kiwis felt like aliens . I spoke to one NZ fan , he was in awe of the mass support for Pakistan.

Not sure about a night on the town , hungry work & tiring supporting Pakistan;)

I’m sure the Northerners will give the same support next match but not easy to live upto tonight or Sunday !

I have to say Pakistani UK fans are the best among the world, the atmosphere was electrifying. I liked it better than our own supporters and Indian supporters. It was nice seeing the Pakistan flag being waved around. Hats off to the fans.

Just read in the Telegraph Pakistan and India supporters were celebrating together at the end?

Pakistani fans in UK are unarguably the most passionate ones. This WC brought back the memories of WC99. The only difference is in 99 everyone used to bring Pakistan flag with him. Not many flags this time.

Used to be the Pakistan/India games had the most exciting atmospheres in previous times, but these days too many of those tickets are bought up by outsiders before the locals can even get a chance to get their hands on them. These sort of games are usually where you get the real fans in the ground.
s
I reckon the games against Afghan and BD will be pretty loud as well. Should be fun seeing those fans going head to head. All in good humour I am sure.

Can you imagine the scenes on UK roads if India wins against England? Whole subcontinent will be cheering for India.

I did see a few Indian fans they were dancing to the Bhangra drums inside & outside the stadium after the game . As you’re aware there is no issue between British Indians & British Pakistanis .

A fair few England fans too supporting Pakistan .

So many people came from all over the world too . A chap came all the way from California, another from the Middle East .

I so hope the PCB arrange our ODI & T20 bilateral series in the Uk especially bham . Why play in the UAE only in dead stadiums.

The crowd today was terrific.
Easily the best Pakistani crowd of this WC atleast.

did they allow horns into edgbaston today or did people sneak them in. anybody who went to the game can tell us please

It was great to be part of an amazing atmosphere at Edgbaston today. It was well and truly a home game for Pakistan.

Had a horn confiscated at trent Bridge vs the windies and today against nz. Tough work supporting for 100 overs without the horns but I gave it my all.

Yours sincerely

Even the non Pakistani commentators were saying it was the best atmosphere they had seen in the WC, and nothing like it! Proving it's not about quantity, but quality!

I was at the match today vs NZ and the SA match! The crowds were incredible and it was nonstop hype start to finish. I flew from the USA to the UK just for the matches and I've absolutely loved it.

Was my first every game and wow! The atmosphere was unbelievable. Cannot even describe it in words. Really want to thank all the fans who made it an unforgettable experience. Was so happy that the boys responded with a great team performance. Credit too to New Zealand too who made it tough for us but that spell from Shaheen set the tone and the Baber and Haris partnership was such a mature and sensible one to steer us home.

For somebody with such sound knowledge of the game I'm surprised it's your first ever match. What made you finally go to one and what has stopped you in the past?

i thought they allowed horns watching the noise on tv, alot of people must have sneaked them in. I wonder how u sneak them in, where do u hide them..dont they check ur bags?

Brum is always a special atmosphere for Pakistan games, only one that could compare was the 1999 semi-final at Old Trafford which was amazing.

The Crowd atmosphere inside the ground was on Par with Semi at Old Trafford 1999.
Similar scenario with NZ scoring 241 and Pakistan winning by 9 wickets with the legend Saeed Anwar making a century. I recall the celebrations outside the ground in Manchester were incredible.
From watching a live recording after returning from the game yesterday, the TV broadcast nowhere near replicated the actual atmosphere we experienced live.
It truly was a superb day of quality Cricket.

Forget the Horns, The 'sufi' Flute player in the Eric Hollis stand was hilarious.
He'd start playing during the tense periods of the game to calm fans down :)))
I wonder if anyone has a video of him.

i thought they allowed horns watching the noise on tv, alot of people must have sneaked them in. I wonder how u sneak them in, where do u hide them..dont they check ur bags?

There were guys selling them outside, so they must have been allowed..there were a few around and they defo weren't being confiscated

What spoilt it slightly was the Block of 300 Seats in the Pavilion stand that lay empty throughout the game.
Pakistani fans were hoovering up tickets from the Touts outside the ground to the point where there were none available and 100's of ticketless fans went home.
Surely the ICC could have cashed in by making these empty seats available to the fans who were prepared to pay £200 a ticket.

Thanks! Was my first game just becuase a lot of the time I've had school and college commitments so not had a chance to go. But I'm so glad that my first ever game was that crazy with that atmosphere and for Pakistan to win such a tight game!

Congratulations bro! I've been to games here and there since 2013 while I was in uni. This game was the best experience.

Lovely experienxe and atmosphere. My first ever world cup game and couldnt be better. Loved every bit of the game. The crowd qas estatic, the queues were well managed. Me and my friends had these tickets booked from last year and were dreading rhe fact that we may have to watch a dead rubber had pakistan lost all its game. Allhumdullilah with the results going our way i can only say inshallah tigers are bouncing back. Have booked another day off fpr the bangladesh and really hope that we have a decent crowd to back our cornered tigers inshallah
