A PTI MNA that was once caught red handed with alcohol bottles in Pakistan's version of Riyasat e Madina. Now he is the main candidate for CM seat in KPK.

A person that contradicts what his leader preaches, what are the expectations from him?

He served as the Foreign minister for Kashmir Affairs and under his watch we saw how India removed special status in there Kashmir while him and his govt sat and watch.

Mr. Gandapur was also involved in 190M pound corruption case aswell.

Behold, the CM of KPK

I expect KPK cabinet enjoying to start its first session drunk.

A drunkard for Chief Minister. How low Pakistani politics have stooped

Just make KP a safe haven for PTI workers.
Why? They are Pakistani. As long as they work in accordance to the laws of the land, Pakistan is a safe haven for all workers that have the intention to serve the country.

The newly-elected independent members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are likely to oath on February 27, ARY News reported citing sources.

KP governor has received summary to summon KP Assembly session before February 29, sources say, adding that governor Haji Ghulam Ali will likely sign the summary on Monday.

The PTI’s independent candidates had won 97 seats in general election held on February 4.

PTI founding chairman had so far announced Ali Amin Gandapur as KP chief minister and Aqibullah Khan as provincial assembly speaker.

On Monday, the PTI announced that its independent candidates would join the Sunni Ittehad Council to form governments at the Centre, in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a bid to secure reserved seats.

The PTI candidates contested the elections as independents after the Supreme Court upheld the election supervisor’s decision, considering its intra-party polls “unconstitutional” and revoked its claim on the electoral symbol of ‘bat’.

Meanwhile, the Awami National Party has announced a protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the day of its inaugural session.

I want him to reintroduce the free health insurance asap. Freedom to practice your politics and demonstrate freely. Sack and prosecute all the officers in the bureaucracy and Police that broke the law. Arrest any people in unmarked cars that kidnap people.

There’s a difference between drinking alcohol or being an alcoholic.

Is he an alcoholic?

A new era for KPK starts, Ali Amin a hardcore loyalist will definitely take forward the mission of IK

they shoukld have gone for Ali Muhammad Khan,
I think he is more suitable for the opposition leader in National Assembly. Let Gandapur run KPK. He is pretty aggressive no doubt about it but people there like this guy. Not a buzdar IMO.

nice way to justify the drunkard as a cm

I am not justifying anyone. I don’t know anything about him nor do I have any skin in the game.

I am just asking a legit question: Is he an alcoholic or just because he enjoys an occasional drink you call him a drunkard?

double standards, on one hand people consider it a sin and crime to have CM who may drink , but a financially corrupt, certified money launderer tax evader murderers are allowed to take public office

The true mandate of masses only reflected in KP assembly, Mr. Gandapur you are the true representative of public amid all the rigging and fake executive being selected, let's be a role model for others and this is not a difficult task given the dynasties being embedded in Punjab and Sindh

And, in the same country Mr 10% is going to be the President of the country again and the most corrupt party is going to form the government in center and in Punjab , even though they were rejected by the overwhelming majority of the public. What a country.

If he keeps pti together that’s enough. You can burn yours…. But Ali Gandpaur will stay.

B sharam log ha , yaha b sharmi karnay aatay ha.

If PTI supporters had even an ounce of rationality they would denounce this decision. Ali Amin Gandapur is one of the most despicable politicians in all of Pakistan- worse than even guys like SMQ and CPE. All one really needs to do is read the statement of Dawar Khan Kundi (a PTI MNA) regarding a notable DI Khan case

Lets also remember that he has links to the TTP

This is the problem with Imran Khan. He is the master of selecting incompetent people in positions of power.

This is the problem with Imran Khan. He is the master of selecting incompetent people in positions of power.
Yes Ishaq Dar , SS Maryam all top notch but IK has incompetent people please be impartial

Please tell me what was the rupee/dollar rate when Ishaq Dar was Finance Minister back in 2013-2017?
It was something around 106, with all that artificial hold up by him. It was an unnatural rate at that time that he kept down using fake methods. Not helping anybody in the long term. What was the rate when the PDM came into power and when they left?

Please tell me what was the rupee/dollar rate when Ishaq Dar was Finance Minister back in 2013-2017?
DAR is a certified money launderer had affidavit submitted against Sharifs, his assets ceased in Pakistan who are you trying to fool it was Mr.Belgium who bought him back even PPP despises Dar

Maryam would be hailed if she delivers even half good the performance that Pervaiz Elahi did in his tenure.

And, in the same country Mr 10% is going to be the President of the country again and the most corrupt party is going to form the government in center and in Punjab , even though they were rejected by the overwhelming majority of the public. What a country.
president is elected through senate not mna.

DO you have any proofs for this? or it is just the news that you heard on social media?
A journalist had a presented evidence on his show however for some reason the show has been removed off youtube. Make off that what you will

SO you heard it from a journalist and there is no case or court decision about him being in contact with TTP right?

PTI-backed Babar Salim Swati, Suraiya Bibi elected KP Assembly speaker, deputy speaker

If he is a bad guy he's a bad guy. But he shouldn't be pilloried for just fancying a drink every now and then. It's a tough job being a PTI politician, and he deserves to let his hair down every now and then.

Hours before the election, opposition parties in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly replaced their candidate for Chief Minister’s (CM) slot to face Ali Amin Gandapur, ARY News reported.

The assembly secretariat said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Hasham Inamullah Khan withdrew his nomination papers.

His party colleague Dr. Abdullah Khan would now be the opposition’s candidate for chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election set to be held on Friday at 10 am in the provincial assembly.

The one-on-one contest would be held between Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) Ali Amin Gandapur and Dr. Abdullah Khan, the opposition’s nominee.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder named Ali Amin Gandapur is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP CM.

The former prime minister nominated Gandapur during an informal media talk at Adiala jail on February 13.

Earlier in the day, Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) Babar Saleem Swati took oath as the speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

Outgoing Speaker Mushtaq Ghani administered him oath after SIC nominated candidate Babar Saleem Swati, an MPA from Mansehra, was elected as speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly.

Saleem Swati bagged 89 votes whereas Peoples Party’s Ihsan Ullah Khan managed to secure 17 votes.

Meanwhile, a woman member from Chitral Surayya Bibi of SIC was elected as deputy speaker. She bagged 87 votes against her opponent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamenterian’s Arbab Waseem who secured 19 votes.

PTI-backed Ali Amin Gandapur elected KP chief minister

PTI MPA Ali Amin Gandapur has been elected as the 22nd Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.

He won by securing a total of 90 votes while his rival Ibadullah of the PML-N got 16 votes.

Gandapur sets deadline to quash FIRs against PTI workers, demands judicial inquiry into May 9 riots

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur gave a deadline of one week to quash first information reports (FIRs) against PTI workers.

“Be ready for punishment if the FIRs aren’t removed,” he said in a speech minutes after being elected CM.

It was unclear during the speech who he directed the deadline to. Later in a post on X, the PTI said: “A message to the police to remove all FIRs for which evidence cannot be produced.”

Ali Amin Gandapur acknowledged the need for peace and to provide security to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as one of his biggest challenges as the province’s chief minister.

“We need to stand on our own feet, and not take loans,” he said. “We need to increase our revenue and give relief to the poor, not burden them.

Congratulations to him for becoming the Chief Minister of KPK. He is probably the first Saraiki speaking CM of KPK.

Mr. Ali Amin Gandapur the true elected representative CM KPK has vowed to ensure free secondary school education in KPK. In a landmark development, Chief Minister was of the opinion when the children will have basic education then they will also be able to use WiFi and laptop in a productive way hitting on the sham schemes offered in Punjab during SS tenure and now the selected goons.

Well done Gandapur who cares if you drink this is your personal subject and good thing is you are not interested in making commission and kickbacks by purchasing laptops on mass scale.

@Rana isnt it odd that the posters that show concerns for nazim jokhio or arshad stay mum on this.

Or maybe its just that they dont really care about others and just use them as victimisation cards.

Instead of worrying about maryam nawaz, maybe lets first talk about a CM that parades women naked in public.

I feel sorry for the women of kpk that this disgusting beast is there cm. I hope the women could be protected.

President should invoke Governor's rule on kpk as Gandapur is a threat on women of kpk

It’s unfortunate to see a goon appointed as CM of KPK…yet the narrative is that Imran Khan was recovering Pakistan from the strong hold of robbers/criminals

The mandate of PKs has been stolen by criminals. IK won the election with 180 seats, your thugs in total got less than 60 seats and today sit in power like a ventriloquists dummies.

How about guys that openly support the theft of an election? Are they OK to say anything they like to aid and abet criminals

Excellent start. A guy that knows he has won, and talks with confidence. Contrast with the mealy mouthed bloody Mary with 10% of the vote and elected by form 47 on the 9th February

A new dawn in KPK, the spirit motivation of these people is overwhelming, echoed by the words of Ali Muhammad Khan back in 2022 that Inshallah IK will be back and back with 2/3 majority.

The Sehat Card Plus KP services have now been restored in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bringing much relief to its citizens. The residents of KP can now avail free medical treatment at Empaneled Hospitals.

Legislation to ensure for women to be given their inheritance share , Gandapur's agenda.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has approved a budget of more than Rs159bn for running the affairs of provincial departments for the current month.

KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati approved the budget as Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur presented the motion before the house.

The house also unanimously adopted a resolution to declare the assembly chamber as a polling station for the upcoming presidential election on 9th of this month.

Expressing his views on the floor of the house, Sunni Ittehad Council leader Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to give their party the reserved seats of women and the minority.

Addressing the house, Speaker Babar Swati said the house believes in rule of law and has trust in the courts that they will resolve these issues.

Later, the Speaker prorogued the session for an indefinite period.

How much of this budget is allocated for the public, and how much is for politicians?

Newly elected Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur would have 12 members in his cabinet in the first phase, ARY News reported citing sources.

According to the details, former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani has been proposed for the senior provincial minister position while Taimur Saleem Jhagra is being considered for Advisor on Finance.

The sources privy to the development said that Arshad Ayub, Malik Liaquat Ali, Dr. Amjad, Shakeel Ahmed, and Khaleequr Rehman would also be cabinet members.

Meanwhile, the names of Tariq Mehmood, Faisal Tarkai, Fazl Shakoor and Arif Ahmadzai, Meena Khan Afridi are also being considered for the 12-member provincial cabinet in the first phase.

The sources said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan would give the final approval to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet.

The chief minister was supposed to meet incarcerated founder Imran Khan on Monday at Adiala Jail to finalize names regarding the formation of the provincial cabinet.

Gandapur promises adequate funds to police

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Monday said it was his government’s top priority to improve the law and order situation in the province.

He also promised to provide the police with the funds required to improve performance.

“I recently vowed to make necessary police reforms. No one should be afraid of it. Reforms will be meant to improve the system and not to target anyone,” Mr Gandapur told reporters during a visit to the house of martyred SP Ijaz Khan here.

He offered fateha for the SP and sympathised with his family.

The CM also met with the children of the martyred police officer and assured them of the government’s all-out financial support.

SP Ijaz had embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with militants in Mardan last week.

Mr Gandapur said the police officer was martyred while bravely fighting militants, adding that he presented a salute to all the martyrs of police and security agencies who laid their precious lives for the secure future of the people.

He said that all financial support under the Shahada Package would be extended to the family of Ijaz Khan.

The CM said that his government’s second priority would be poverty alleviation, welfare of the vulnerable segments of society, and resolution of the unemployment issue.

He said that the current financial issues had badly hit the common man, so they should be addressed on an urgent basis.

Mr Gandapur said that the development of infrastructure would also be ensured through a well-defined strategy.

CM Gandapur meets Imran to finalise KP cabinet

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Tuesday visited Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi where he met the incarcerated PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan and discussed with him the formation of provincial cabinet.

While talking to Dawn, spokesperson for the former prime minister Raoof Hasan said, “Mr Gandapur met incarcerated leader Imran Khan and during the meeting, along with other issues, names of the provincial cabinet members were also discussed.

“It is the right of Mr Gandapur to announce the names of the cabinet members himself. I hope announcement will be made soon.”

Sources said it was decided to have a small cabinet in KP to reduce the burden on the exchequer.

Talking to media persons after meeting Mr Khan in jail, Mr Gandapur said the PTI had never done politics just to grab power. “We had governments in two provinces, but we decided to dissolve both assemblies of KP and Punjab for the democracy and the people of Pakistan,” he said.

Replying to questions, he said Mr Khan was fighting a battle of workers and nation. He said only Mr Khan could decide about the reconciliation with the establishment. However, he made it clear that establishment and other institutions were very close to his heart and he respected them.

He said the PTI would never reconcile with the Shehbaz Sharif-led PML-N government, which was formed “by stealing the seats” won by PTI members. However, he added, working relation with the federal government would be maintained.

He made it clear that the KP government and PTI would not compromise over the claim of its seats in centre.

Resolution in NA

The PTI, whose leaders contested the general elections as independent candidates after the party was deprived of its electoral symbol and later joined the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in an attempt to secure reserved seats in assemblies, submitted its first resolution of current tenure in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Submitted by 13 members, the draft resolution has demanded release of PTI leadership Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other leaders as well as journalists who have been imprisoned.

The resolution has been signed by former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, Junaid Akbar, Advocate Sohail Sultan, Shahid Khatak, Zubair Khan, Mujahid Ali, Sahabzada Sibghatullah, Sher Ali, Saleem Rehman, Arbab Amir, Dr Amjad Ali Khan, Ayesha Nazir and Mehboob Shah.

Through the resolution, they demanded that all leaders be released at the earliest, while ‘illegal use’ of law and fabricated cases against Mr Khan and other leaders must be stopped forthwith.

Protest movement

Mr Qaiser had earlier told the media that the PTI was planning to launch a protest movement against the ‘stealing’ of the public mandate.

He had also said that he would submit a resolution for the withdrawal of cases against incarcerated leaders and journalists.

The former NA speaker said it was unfortunate that the PTI members’ victory was converted into a defeat by changing the results in Forms-47. However, he made it clear the peaceful movement would be within the ambit of the law and as per the Constitution.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has picked his new cabinet comprising 15 ministers and five advisers.

A summary regarding the appointment of the provincial cabinet — a copy of which is available with Dawn.com — was sent to KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali today.

The summary was subsequently approved and the appointment of the ministers was notified. Cabinet members are likely to be sworn in later in the evening.

The ministers-designate include Arshad Ayub Khan, Shakeel Ahmad, Fazal Hakim Khan, Muhammad Adnan Qadri, Aqibullah Khan, Muhammad Sajjad, Meena Khan, Fazal Shakoor, Nazir Ahmad Abbasi, Pakhtoon Yar Khan, Aftab Alam Khan Afridi, Khaleequr Rehman, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Faisal Khan Tarakai and Muhammad Zahir Shah.

Syed Fakhar Jehan, Muzamil Aslam, Muhammad Ali Saif, Mashal Azam and Zahid Chanzeb were selected as advisers to the chief minister.

The development comes a day after CM Gandapur met incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and discussed the formation of the provincial cabinet with him.

“Mr Gandapur met incarcerated leader Imran Khan and during the meeting, along with other issues, names of the provincial cabinet members were also discussed,” PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan had told Dawn.

On the other hand, while speaking to the media after he met with Imran, Gandapur had said the PTI would never reconcile with the Shehbaz Sharif-led PML-N government which he claimed was formed by “stealing seats”.

However, he added, a working relationship with the federal government would be maintained.

PTI-backed independents, who have found their new home in the Sunni Ittehad Council, made a landslide victory in KP by clinching over 85 of the 115 general seats in the provincial assembly.

Last week, around 115 MPAs were administered oath in the maiden session of the KP Assembly. It should be mentioned that the previous assembly was dissolved in January 2023 and KP had been functioning in the absence of the provincial legislature for more than 13 months.
