Good money but will not learn much. A FC stint would have been a lot better for his development.

In T20 they will require his slower balls and varieties instead of some seam/swing bowling which would have been a good experience for him.

Also he doesn't get a proper go in games at international level, so hopefully will be given more responsibility with the bat for northants

These T20 leagues and county experiences have done nothing for our players in the last 15-20 years

I have a feeling this will be really beneficial for him as he doesn't get a proper chance for Pakistan to bat but in Northamptonshire he will be one of their key players so I think he will get a chance to bat a lot and I reckon he'll fulfill his 4 overs quota more often than not.

Faheem Ashraf: Pakistan all-rounder joins Northants for T20

Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf will join Northants Steelbacks for the whole of this summer's T20 Blast.

The 24-year-old, who has played at international level in all three formats, averages 16.31 with the bat in T20 and has taken 49 wickets.

He is set to make his debut on 19 July against Durham, subject to clearance.

"Faheem is a proven white-ball cricketer with the variety and subtle bowling skills required in Twenty20," head coach David Ripley said.

Ashraf, a right-arm seamer who bats left-handed, has played 23 T20 internationals for Pakistan since making his debut in 2017.

He made his Test debut against Ireland in Malahide last May.

A good opportunity to get more batting practice. I wonder how high he will bat- probably 7.

Faheem Ashraf gives me more confidence as a bowler than Hasan ali in all formats. If he can average 23- 25 with the bat, that would be a bonus.

Sources close to Faheem have confirmed that he is staying in England and talks are still in progress on him playing cricket in England.

Inzi said Faheem, Abid and Rizwan will be England as backup options, I doubt he will play cricket, will probably stay with the team as a net bowler, incase of injury?

There are reports that Faheem has already left for Pakistan and will reach Lahore tomorrow morning.

Thanks BRO

Excellent opportunity for fahim to improve his game

He is a good T20 bowler

But not good enough for ODIs. He should seriously work on his batting if he wants a long career.

He will get destroyed. A rubbish bowler and an even worse batsman. Hope he is never selected for Pakistan again.

I dont think he is International class allrounder. He is just a bowler who is not good enough as a main bowler. Which him well in domestic.

Decent bowler.

Highest wicket taker in one season of PSL.

Should enjoy bowling in England.

Decent bowler, wasnt the batsman people expected him to be as his FC and List A stats already suggested.

He cant play just as a bowler for Pakistan with bowlers like Amir, Shaheen and a decent number of upcoming promising young fast bowlers. Unless he improves his batting big time he will struggle to play for Pakistan in ODIs.

He is now the 2nd best T20I pacer.... after Phehlukwayo! :rahat1

Sides like Australia rarely go full strength in bilateral T20s hence how Faheem Hadlee winds up on these ICC rankings.

This is one of the worst signings from Pakistan in recent memory. Up there with Tahir Mughal signing for Durham and Shoaib Akhtar's one game stint for Surrey.

He is actually pretty effective in T20's, so I expect him to do well in the blast.

He's a pretty decent t20 bowler and i expect him to perform well in England. Just not quite good enough to get into the Pakistan side on that basis alone.

If he works incredibly hard on his batting and maintains the bowling ability he has now we could easily see him make a comeback. Pakistan would definitely accomodate a pace bowling AR and we're pretty much waiting for one of Faheem or Yamin to state their claim at this point.

My commiserations to everyone associated with Northamptonshire...

Jokes aside, I think he may do well at that level and nothing higher.

People judging him by his T20 ranking really need to actually watch him play and realise rankings do not justify the hype his rabid fans have made for the last couple of years.

People acting as if this is awful for Northants are over-reacting. Yes, he had an awful series against England, but the pitches there were motorways, besides, Faheem has done good in PSL which is better quality than Vitality Blast. I expect Faheem to do decent for Northants. Not amazing, but decent.

and excellent bowler who would have been extremely useful during the word cup, especially on the slower, stickier surfaces.

Should be back in the side as our third pacer. If he improves his batting then that will be a bonus

His batting has deteriorated for more than a year. He's an awful batsmen. His bowling is also a coin toss and he's simply not consistent enough to be mentioned as a genuine all-rounder.

First match today versus Durham:

Steady figures of 4-29-1

Bowling isn't his weakest attribute and it's a case of which side of the bed he wakes up on, it's his batting. Let's see what he does in this tournament and if he's even improved after being left out of the WC squad.

Did decently with the bowl. His bowling was always decent for an allrounder but his batting has been a big let down. To play for Pak he has to improve his batting as I dont see much chance of him playing as a bowler or even bowling all rounder over the likes of Amir, Shaheen, Hassan, Shinwari, Haris Rauf, Naseem, Musa, Hasnaian, Wahab etc.

One thing to not is that next world cup is in India and atleast two specialist spinners are going to be in the squad surely so Pak would be needing a pace bowling all rounder in the squad if they opt for two specialist spinners in the playing XI however, his only shot at that is to improve his batting.

Amad Butt has recently created much more impact with the bat in domestics and Abbas Afridi of U19 team looks like a decent upcoming pace bowling all round prospect.

He will be the gift to Northamptonshire that keeps on giving :))

Northants are a pretty weak team and Faheem won't get an easy ride there.

If he's not careful he could get really shown up there.

Useless cricketer

Should have never played that long for Pakistan

He actually bowled quite decently mostly which kept his place in the team...but towards the end he lost his confidence in bowling too...

The point is that he was picked in the team because he could bat as well. His bowling stats are diabolical in ODIs, and even worse once you remove Zimbabwe series.

He should never plqy ODIs again until he shows tangible progess with the bat.

Out. 1 run off 4 balls.

What a player. What a signing.

Have some faith. Mickey rightly backed this guy. He will bounce back.

Couple of Test knocks on difficult wickets outside Asia and two domestic televised knocks are a testament to his skillset. Yes, he hasn’t delivered in limited overs international cricket yet but He will InshaAllah.

Faheem should fix his bowling action if he wants to make a comeback to the Pakistan side. He has potential but he needs to help himself to unleash that potential.

He is no AR. He wasn't one before coming in International. He has no significant batting performances in domestic as well. He's an average bowler at best. Idk what you guys are expecting of him

faheem as an allrounder has been a big big disappointment ...his weakeness against the short ball has made him into a tailender worse than Walsh... problem is that his bowling isnt gonna get him into the team.. he has to lift his batting which after almost 3 years hasnt improved and thts bcz they dont want to spend time in domestic.. such a shame...

To me he's always been more of a test allrounder, and maybe a t20 one. I don't see him playing odi style innings, his game isn't there yet. Needs to work on strike rotation and adding more ground shots to his game

Even Shadab can stick around longer than Faheem with the bat.

Even Hassan Ali and Wahab are harder hitters.

Imad Wasim and Hafeez are obviously much better batsman than all of the above.

Whats the use of Faheem then?

He needs to seriously improve his batting because his bowling is not good enough to get him in Pak XI.

I still believe there is a genuine all-rounder there in this guy.

We've seen him hit some big shots into the stands, so he is capable of it, but that confidence has gone.

Needs that one blitztrek knock to get it back. But to be honest, a destructive hitter does not constantly hole out on the boundry line as often as this guy. I have seen him hit some really huge effortless sixes in domestic cricket but maybe his hitting prowess is over rated as well.

He bats like a tailender. Apart from CT17 warm up game in which he scored some 50 odd. There has not been a single good performance with the bat in LO cricket

So the new criteria to be considered a genuine all-rounder is to hit a couple of sixes.
Hasnain's highest LO score is 28 same as Faheem's, I think there is a genuine all-rounder in him as well.
I've also seen Irfan jr. hitting sixes, he also has a FC hundred (IIRC), another genuine all-rounder.

Aamer Yamin should feel hard done ... he should have played more games than faheem... i think he is a much much much much better batsmen and at par on bowling with Faheem...

Two good innings in test too, against england and ireland. He has potential but he has to take batting seriously and put the hard work and stop saying nonsense like "i am playing as /just a bowler" his bowling isn't good enough and the real potential is his batting.
Stats mean nothing,he was nowhere as good as a bowler as his stats suggest in t20,he got carried away.

He is not international class, He was given enough chances but he couldn't perform. Let him perform for 2-3 years in domestic and see if he can improve.

I'm talking about his LO cricket batting performances. It's nill. If stats means nothing, then where is his batting performances?

Worse than Anwar Ali. We should have invested in Aamer Yamin instead as a batting all-rounder.
