[VIDEOS] Faizan Riaz - Batter from Islamabad

Considering this is same Faizan Riaz who played in LQ PDP, he looks good, his power game looked decent in that Abu Dhabi league, hit couple of 50s iirc

I have seen Faizan play cricket in UK (averages over 100) and he looks good no harm in giving him a go. His part time leg spin is also useful.

Good knock by Faizan Riaz for Northern 2nd XI.

100 for Faizan Riaz today in Northern vs Balochistan

Faizan Riaz looks horrible, no backlift in his shots, looks like a tail ender batting and he flashes at the ball to make up for the power he looses due to his non-existent backlift.

Faizan Riaz 100 Runs 135 mints 91 Balls (4x15&6x1)

Surprised he is doing so well to be honest. Saw him play in one of the match this season and doesn't seems to be a quality batsman.

Best of luck to him.

Very little footwork, no backlift, but he's been scoring runs consistently for the past few seasons.

Technically doesn't look the best, but runs on the board count.

his knocks highlight lack of creativity on the part of domestic captains, he loves playing flashy lofted drives but mid off and mid on were up the whole time. should have dropped mid off back and bowled outside off to try and frustrate him or flash squarer or the wicket.

still fortune favours the brave though and his intent saved northern today.

No words to explain, how can a player like him score a double? I guess if Gillespie can do it so he can.

Fast hands and a good eye it looks, most possibly not international class but maybe can be givin a game or two as an opener for t-20

Lol, he played a T-20 innings, too many aerial shots.

Unfortunately he is a bit old otherwise I would have wanted him to be given a go as he seems very strong temperamentaly usually these are the ones who do well at international level

From PCB report for Day 2 of QeA20:

Faizan Riaz, who scored his first century of the season yesterday, added 22 runs to his overnight total before Asif Ali smashed an unbeaten 45-ball 52, studded with four fours and two sixes.

Faizan was dismissed on 146 by pacer Arshad Iqbal, who returned three for 75. Faizan, the 32-year-old right-handed batsman, crunched 18 fours and a six.

This guy bats like a tailender. Heck these days tailenders have more class. I can't believe he scored a century. Speaks volumes about KP bowling attack.

he technique is all over the place, but he certainly makes the most of his time at the crease. works perfectly in northerns gung ho batting line up on flat karachi track.

Do some research man. He was also among the highest run-getters last season. His technique is very unconventional but It gets the job done. If he was a tailender, Muhammad Wasim wouldn't have persisted with him.

definitely unorthodox technique but he's been piling up runs which has to be taken into consideration.

He stil scoring runs that's what matters also nothern wouldnt have persisted with him if he wasnt any good

From PCB Report:

Northern’s Umair Masood recorded his maiden century in first-class cricket with a brilliant 103 not out which helped his team post 247 for four at a healthy rate of five runs per over.

The 22-year-old right-handed batsman smashed nine boundaries and stitched a 142-run stand for the third wicket with Faizan Riaz, who followed his 146 in the first innings with a 70-ball 56.

At the NBP Sports Complex, Northern batters Faizan Riaz and Umar Amin stitched a 308-run partnership for the fourth wicket to put their side in a commanding position against Southern Punjab. Resuming their innings at the overnight score of 54 for three, Northern finished at 421 for nine to lead Southern Punjab by 183 runs.

Faizan notched up his 13th first-class century while scoring 168 off 268 balls with 22 fours and two fours, while his partner, left-handed Umar, scored his second century of the tournament as he contributed 158 off 271 balls with 22 fours and one six.

Most consistent fc batsman over the past 2 seasons would not mind giving him a go even if he is a short term fix.

Impressive knock by Faizan Riaz as he brings up his 14th first-class century

Back-to-back hundreds for Faizan Riaz

The Northern batter is in great form as he brings up the 15th ton of his first-class career

How have you come to this conclusion? Just for reference he averaged over 100 in UK for the club Marcus Labuchage played for a year before and averaged 70?

I have seen him plenty times and he’s no way international standard at all. Poor batting technique. Poor against pace and just about decent against spin. I will be shocked if he averages anything above 30 in international cricket. Have you ever seen him play? If so what’s good about him? I have never seen anything good about his batting.

He did average more than Labuchange in the same competition and pitches in UK. I have seen him play many times but the point is he is experienced and got 15 tons in domestic now so despite how he looks he has learnt over the years how to score runs.

Just saw the video.. he is not going anywhere with that technique. He will be a sitting duck.

Don't want to discourage but he doesn't look anything like international material. Quite shocking that bowlers can't get him out with such bad batting techniques

Double hundred for Faizan now

Agricultural technique but has scored heavily past few seasons.

Anyway, he can't leapfrog Saud, Ghulam and even Usman Salahudin for national team consideration.

Double hundred for Faizan now

Faizan Riaz scored a stunning unbeaten century, 145* off 170, for Islamabad against Abbottabad on Day 2 of Round 1 of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024/25

this thread makes you realise how far the QeA has fallen off fans' radar, from actual discussion of individual performances to no one even knowing whats really going on anymore.
