Genuine question. Can anyone explain the difference? What was Sarfaraz doing wrong and how has that been corrected through Babar’s captaincy?

The man was doing his job as a keeper and vocal leader behind the stumps. Have Pakistan quietly become a ruthless win machine under a softer, relaxed management?

It was already an improvement by getting rid of the specialist captain. He can’t make the team on batting or keeping.

Sarfraz is finished!! No point to give bring him back as captain.

Hey genius... Under his captaincy Pakistan played 13 tests, won 4 and lost twice as many, 8.... That too mostly in familiar conditions of UAE with used to be your fortress.

Babar On the other hand has also played 13 matches as captain, lost 2 and won 8.

Well his time as a player was up when a younger, far superior option arrived in Rizwan.
No one should play as a specialist captain, and Sarfaraz was very far from a genius captain.

I can't believe this thread actually exists. :virat1

Sarfaraz vs Babar as Pakistan captain? Seriously.

It's the mother of all no brainers. Babar is one of the best things to have happened to Pakistan cricket. Cant' even imagine replacing him with Sarfaraz.

One reason we have improved is because earlier we weren't playing any home games. IIRC more than 50% games under Babar were played in Pakistan. Secondly Babar's own game has imporved, Shaheen and Abdullah Shafiq's performances are another reason. If it is long term or not only time will tell. If we have improved in tougher conditions(Aus, NZ, SA, Eng) or not is yet to be tested

Rizwan was always there during the Misbah era, he didn’t arrive

Well, you know what I mean.
Rizwan had to be given his chance in tests, he was given, took it with both hands and thus, Sarfaraz became obsolete.

Sarfaraz's position in the side was just untenable after a point. His keeping skills declined along with his fitness and the bloke whose career average was a shade above 50 at one point really struggled for consistency.

In his last 31 tests, he just about averaged 30 with the bat.

I don't think his captaincy was much worse than the likes of Azhar, Babar or even Misbah.

You could argue that Sarfaraz (the test batter) has a lot to offer, specially when Rizwan is failing to make an impact in red ball.

Sarfaraz was playing as a specialist captain in his final few games.....he didn't merit a spot based on his batting

That was his biggest issue.

And we had a better alternative in Rizwan available to replace him in the side.

Sarfaraz the batter avgs 30 in his last 30 tests....he doesn't offer anything.

Rizwan avgs 40+ at home and even in places like Eng/NZ

As far as captaincy goes - there’s been little improvement if not regression since Sarfraz was removed.

The batting of certain individuals has improved but we still have no settled batting order to speak of.

We’ve been carrying passengers such as Azhar every series so the argument that Sarfraz continuing as captain and passenger player has some merit (assuming of course he replaced other passengers E.g Sarfraz, Azhar in the same team wouldn’t have worked). Rizwan could still have been selected as a batsman - after all we are playing him as a no4 these days anyway!

It would have allowed Babar freedom from the reigns of captaincy and really build himself in to that dominant world class batsman he should be by now. When ready babar could take over. Right now, Babar has to continue building his career and also captain the team.

Pakistan are better under Babar than they were under Sarfaraz.

Sarfaraz used to yell too much. That's not the way to lead a team.

People just don't know what they have until they lose it.

Guess same for Babar as well - we don't know yet.

Have been watching Pakistan cricket for a while now.

when Asif Iqbal was removed, the same used to be said, same with Inzi (his retirement came under pressure)

Difference is Inzy and Iqbal were intelligent men. Babar is talented but completely devoid of intelligence or personality. He's a bimbo essentially.

Bro I already agree with you on this. You've watched longer then I have but I analyse everything.

Shaheen has the mentality of a 13 year old and Shan can't even understand the fundamentals of batting, let alone captaining and building a team. No more already built and established players from county ready at his disposal.

I advocated for Muhammad haris to be the next captain with a young team cause I saw how he captained in emerging acc cup, but pcb doesn't really have that insight that bcci had with making a young Dhoni their captain.

Babar could have been a pointing like captain if he had the nations interests in mind.

Babar didn't deliberately try to destroy cricket or anything but he didn't realise that international cricket is not club cricket. Theirs no friendship in international, you're playing against the world best and fighting to be in the side amongst your own domestic players.

He didn't have that insight, nor did he understand that cricket doesn't involve basic abc text books. Fields are set according to batsmen weaknesses. Bowlers are brought based of strengths.

After burning our your pacers, in the sa game, you're only choice now is to take a risky gamble with usama mir, usama sucks but in that game he took 2 wickets and you need one more wicket so it's time to gamble.

On which planet did he decide it was a good idea to bowl nawaz who wasn't just wicketless in that game but has a gran total of 1 wicket in all the games he played? And was beyond bad in asia cup? You need one wicket and you're going to bowl a dude who hasn't taken a wicket in the game to get you the final wicket?

Today, the chairman of the PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf visited the camp and interacted with the entire team including the supporting staff.

Team Director Mohammad Hafeez was also a part of this interaction and a video has circulated where he can be seen praising former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed:

"The best thing about Sarfaraz Ahmed is that he respected domestic cricket. He did not miss even a single match of domestic competitions. He is the most senior of this team and he never took rest. His participation in domestic cricket is commendable,"

I also appreciate Sarfaraz's fighting spirit. That he didn't give up and consistently played domestic cricket and performed as well

Big slap on those players who were dropped from the team but were carried without having to play red ball fc cricket

Pakistan has become a minnow in Test cricket since Sarfraz was sacked as captain #fact

Had Babar Azam promoted sloggers ahead of himself, he would have been praised as an innovative thinker and a team-first man.

When Sarfraz did it, he was "selfish" and "hiding" and "scared"
