Imran Tahir celebration getting on people's nerves?

"I am tired of seeing him (Imran Tahir) celebrate like that and I called him a clown and he took it the wrong way and then you saw what he said to me, so we will leave it at that, eh?" : Colin Munro

Yeah, Tahirs celebration is a bit annoying at times....still Munro was out, he should have just chilled lol

He did something extra after his usual celebration , that turned on Munro. Tahir need to calm down with his celebrations .

Can't blame him, Tahoe's celebration are way too OTT.

It is a little annoying but he should do what he wants, maybe cause I'm too Americanized.

British/Australian people are really uptight.

I agree. It was funny the first few times but it’s getting annoying now.

Wonder what it will be like when they play against each other again. These things stick.

Tbh I don't think most players remember these things too much. We've seen many players have altercations and spats and a few months later they are playing for the same team in the IPL.

I love Tahir's celebrations, so full of passion. Right up there with Shoaib Akhtar's flying plane celebration as one of the best ones ever (largely due to the passion he exibits which no one else does).

Don't know how anyone would find it annoying

Can’t stand it.
Immature and smacks of insecurity

Is it me being selfish to think that controversies like this, add to the rivalries and then ultimately benefit the cricketing game? As long as everyone stays in their limits.

Who is Mama's lil cry baby
ITS COLIN MUNRO
grow a pair and actually become good batsman instead of being a one good inning per 9-10 innings hack

Don't know how to explain it, but Tahir's celebration just looks contrived.

Nothing wrong with passionate celebrations in general but his just comes across as a bit forced. And I can see why it might be annoying...

Sour grapes from Munro. He was dismissed and whatever Tahir did, he atleast didn't give him a send off or say something derogatory to him. In that situation how a bowler chooses to celebrate his wickets is none of the batsmans business

If Tahir plays for your team you will probably enjoy the “passion”, but if you are the batsman, you would probably feel like beating him up with your bat.

He's not in the face of the batsman and is just running on the field.

Nothing wrong with it and a bit of a sore loser mentality from Munro here.

of course but that shouldn't be the reason to stop him because Colin AKA "The cry baby" and his feelings are hurt

This after the Shadab dismissal.

Clearly has a few choice words for the opposition.

Okay thanks I hadn’t really seen that. Do you know what direction he’s doing that in? Like is it towards the Islu dugout or the general crowd or just randomly.

No idea, but I'd guess it's aimed at the dugout since this was after the Munro incident.

You get paid to win the trophy, not the fair play award.

The whole point of Tahir"s celebration is to make the batsmen angry and annoyed and remember that tahir got him out

Some of the celebration of recent cricketers are very annoying, Imran Tahir's is on top of that, I also don;t like Shaheen's , all these acts look so fake. Would like to go back on old fashioned celebration, when a bowler would high five with teammates and that was it.

Old fashioned? More like absolutely dull and boring.

I don't know if you've ever competed in anything but when you achieve something in a competition, there is excitement and happiness involved. A wicket is a type of achievement. Why contain that excitement and happiness? Tbh, it is not even easy to contain it so if you think a bowler would just go with a high five to a teammate you clearly haven't either taken a wicket or gotten happy over something. Although high-fives also happen, it depends on the circumstances and players. Some scenarios produce more passion and some less, same goes with players.

Tahir is really passionate about his wickets, and so he gets overly excited. That is okay. The reason that opposing batsmen are annoyed by it is because of frustration or they're just upset. People have to look at the other side, Tahir's celebrations are an uplifting factor of whatever team he goes to. Those kinds of characters are able to bring hype and motivation to a team which is obviously a good thing.

^With my post above being said, I do however completely disagree with any disrespect or verbal abuse that comes off of celebrations. Otherwise, celebrations are an important aspect of one's game. Everyone has it in them, even if they don't always show it.

A prime example is Kawhi Leonard. For those that watch basketball know that he's just a silent killer, but when in his playoff run last year he exhibited ecstatic behaviour at times.

Only in that Game 7 against Philly.

The celebration is ott and irritating. It seems fake to me and I'm not surprised that a batsman has responded in this way.

Tahir's celebration OTT but it is no big deal.T20 is there to entertain people so people should take it too serious. The players are taking it seriously because T20 is their butter and bread.Good performance in T20 leagues enhances their reputation which can lead to lucrative contracts.

I don't think Munro is the only batter who has this opinion. I would be pretty annoyed if someone ran round like he did if they got me out.

I mean sure. But then in the same vein Tahir shouldn't have such thin skin when a batsman finally snaps and says something only he could hear. He completely lost it today after the thing with Munro.

If I were a betting man I would bet that Munro will not return for PSL 6.

I got the hint today in his pre match interview that he’s tired of being in a hotel all the time. Some of these guys may be suffering from Cabin fever hence the outburst as such

These kind of outbursts happen in every league. Warne and Samuels in BBl, Harbhajan and Sreesanth in IPL
to give examples.

Only in that Game 7 against Philly.

And when he won game 6 and ultimately the chip against the Warriors. This is deviating from the topic of the thread though. Kawhi was just an example of my comment.

Tahir over exaggerates his celebration it’s not just emotion he deliberately uses it as a way to benefit and intimidate the batsmen. I am surprised he’s not been reprimanded by the umpires. Anyway he’s an annoying wee tool and I loved when he failed to make that catch. Can’t stand this numpty, shouldn’t be in PSL after turning his back on Pakistan.

It’s fake what it is.

I understand if it’s a big wicket or an important wicket within the context of the game. But Tahir runs a half marathon for every damn wicket regardless of the match context, quality of the wicket or strength of the opposition.

It’s a joke when he does it for example when he takes the eighth wicket of Afghanistan in a match where they have 100+ to chase with 5 overs remaining.

I have to say Imran Tahir becomes a bit too dramatic. But, some people like it probably.

I was getting that locked-in-hotel vibe too from the interview. But I feel he'll follow the money even next year, especially since his performances are just too inconsistent to guarantee a spot in any team anywhere like it would for someone like Guptill.

Waiting for the day, when a batsman smashes Tahir for 6 then starts dancing like crazy around the bowler.

Its nothing new, Tahir has been celebrating like this his entire career. Batsmen should not get involved, as long as its not offensive, bowler has every right to celebrate how he likes
