[VIDEOS] "I feel I am ready for international cricket" : Sahibzada Farhan

In the past this lad wouldn't get much further than club cricket or street cricket.

Worrying that he has played international cricket and is playing PSL.

He seems to be regressing, he needs a lot of work in his batting, fielding and fitness.

His performance has really downgraded recently. Shame as I thought he could have been a good replacement for Sharjeel Khan.

Seems like he has finally realised this attitude will get him nowhere:

"During the recently concluded PSL tournament, my team Islamabad United and Karachi Kings were practicing at the same venue. Waqar Younis was trying to help me practice to score runs off my weak areas. He worked on me for a few hours with not much luck. Mohammad Rizwan, who was watching from a distance, came over and told Waqar that you can keep on practicing for as long as you like at Farhan’s weak spots and things will not improve. But, he could bet anything with Waqar, that if the ball came in the right place for Farhan in his strong area, it would be deposited outside the boundary in no time. After Waqar heard this, he told me to come out of the nets and just play the way I normally play. I did not disappoint as in the game I hit Usman Khan Shinwari for a six and also struck a six off Tymal Mills as well. My point is that, yes, I will look to play responsibly but I will never miss an opportunity to score when the ball is in the right place for me to hit."

Much better balance at the crease and has worked on his weak areas. His strike rotation has improved and he has opened up the offside. Still crouches though.

Sahibzada Farhan scored 157 runs off 137 balls against Pakistan Navy in the semi-final of Patron's Trophy Grade-II.

I've never seen a worse batsman, play international cricket. At least awais zia could connect a few.

Saw him play today at a local match.

Looked decent in the beginning but then got out in the PowerPlay.

A lots of hard work needs to be done before him making a mark in international cricket.

If these amateurs can get him out by testing his weaknesses, imagine what Starc, Bumrah and other world class bowelers will do with him - he is a walking wicket.

Sahibzada Farhan 72* for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vs Balochistan in round 5 of QEA

For all the critics , he has back to back 100’s to in a semi and final to win the Pakistan cup for his team.

Is it possible he was picked for the wrong format? Let’s be honest won’t be the first time it would in Pakistan cricket .

His stats are Impressive to have 7 hundreds in 38 matches with a strike rate of nearly 90

Good stuff in 50 overs cricket. Even when he debuted in international T20s it didnt look like a format he was that comfortable in (SR of 104 in T20s). At the moment he is in a very specific niche where he is just doing really good with great stats in List A cricket but cant transfer the skills completely to either T20 which is also white ball cricket or much to longer format as well.

What a knock, 103* (102) opening the batting and lasting the whole innings to take the team home in the final

The problem with him is that he plants his feet and if the ball is moving slightly he will be in big trouble. Quality international bowlers notice these things.

Wickets been very flat this season. Regardless of this very impressive going by Sahibzada Farhan. I wonder if he will be able to keep this going.

Another average player who bats like a lion in domestic cricket because of the poor standard of bowling and fielding.

It is basically like facing the reserve team of Zimbabwe or Ireland, that too on flat pitches.

Saibzada Farhan with 43 off 31 deliveries for KP vs Bal

1608-1002-max.jpg

Pakistan have too many options for 1-3 but no decent options for 4-6

I still believe he is better ODI player than T20 because he plays lot of dot balls its either boundary or stop he doesn't have rotation of strike.

78 (49) today for KP vs Balochistan in Match 22 of National T20 Cup

He's a good ball striker unfortunately his dot ball percentage is awful. But a good tournament so far.

Some of the shots were terrible hacks, inside edges. And he mostly plays on leg side. Not quality

49* by Sahibzada Farhan in KP's 7 wicket win against Sindh

50 for SF in 1st semi final of the National T20 Cup (KP v Northern)

That was a much better knock.

I still dont think he is international material.

Congratulations to Sahibzada Farhan - voted Best batter of the tournament for his 447 runs

Maiden first-class century for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Sahibzada Farhan! on Day 2 of Round 2 of QeA

Scored an unbeated century to lead a chase of 223 against Southern Punjab for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the QeA Trophy today.

Now the leading scorer this season with 860 runs from 14 innings with 3 centuries and 5 fifties. He's certainly come of age as a first-class cricketer this year.

Back on top of the top run-getters list in the QeA Trophy ...

Domestic Cricketer of the Year - Sahibzada Farhan (1,869 runs in Pakistan Cup, National T20 and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy)

Great start of the year for Sahibzada Farhan.

First, Domestic cricketer of the year, and now, picked in the PSL draft by KK.

I remember Sahibzada from Hong Kong Sixes. He was representing Pakistan there.

Seemed promising then.

Unfortunately for Farhan he’s playing for a franchise run by idiots.

An opener playing at 7 and watching bowlers bat ahead of him, ridiculous.

Agree with the poster above.

I mean how many times do guys like clarke, gregory and nabi need to fail before realising they shouldn't be batting so high up?

peter moores and Babar combo is by far the worst combo I've ever seen.

Unbelievably pathetic.

Said it before too that he deserved a chance in the ODI team and wasn't a T20 player when he was picked and played there and as a result failed and was dropped till date.

Back then he had an average of just over 50 with a SR of over 90 and we were chopping changing in the ODI team but he didn't het a chance.

Even though he's improved and did well in the domestic T20 competition and ended as the highest run scorer.

Now he can't be included in the camp of 60 players pretty bad.

Can't ever rule anything out, but this seems a damning exclusion.

Sahibzada Farhan raced to his fourth first-class century in 44th match and remained undefeated on 100 that came off 121 balls and included 13 fours and a six. Together with Rehan Afridi (54 not out), Sahibzada Farhan put on 142 runs for the unfinished fourth wicket after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had slipped to 32 for three.

Sahibzada Farhan contributed with a quality 107 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's victory.

Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24

Best Batter - Sahibzada Farhan

Sahibzada Farhan Finished Quaid e Azam Trophy 2023 as the leading run Scorer.

Sahibzada Farhan continues his splendid form. In the semi final, he scored 69 off 76 balls, which helped Peshawar clinch victory against FATA

What a player he is....I'm impressed with his performance in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. I think he deserves a chance in the Test side.

Any sensible team with half a brain would have given him at least a small run in ODIs by now

This is what Wahab Riaz said about Sahibzada Farhan after he was not included in the Pakistan test squad for Australia tour.

"Sahibzada Farhan was the leading run-scorer but our top-order is set currently. So he is in our radar only if the need arises."

Sahibzada Farhan was brilliant with the bat as he remained the top run scorer with 292 runs in this year's National T20 Cup.

Runs: 292
HS: 109*
Ave: 45
SR: 179

Poor guy is never going to play for Pakistan again

I am sure he will get selected for the NZ T20I series but not certain at which position he can play when Babar and Rizwan are not going to leave the opening slot.

He is not the middle order player so lets see how the management utilizes him.

Next step up should be playing at PSL. But jump from this to international is just too different in quality. If he goes to PSL and outperforms guys like Babar, Rizwan, Fakhar, he will apply pressure for an international spot regardless.

Think PSL should maybe add a few more teams. I think there's more pakistani domestic players who could play PSL and compete at a decent level, but aren't. The number of teams also isn't big enough to give enough places to youngsters. I know increasing the PSL teams could lead to a drop in quality, but I think 1 or 2 teams more would help PSL and the loss of quality wouldn't be hurt too much. Afterall Multan is currently the newest team and yet has the highest win/loss record, I don't think we've hit the point where we have too many teams yet.

I can see it now already hahaha... Babar and Rizwan will open for the first 4 games and in the last game Sahibzada Farhan will play and come at 7

Yeah I hope he gets a chance in PSL... the tried and tested method for winning in PSL is selecting foreign batsmen and Pakistan bowlers so that already limits his opportunities.

Sahibzada Farhan, after an impressive domestic season, becomes able to make his place into the Pakistan side for the T20 series against New Zealand in 2024.

I think he will be more successful this time with the national team than he was in the past. He deserved his chance in the national team after very good performances at domestic level in the last couple of seasons and he should make the most of this chance because he may not get another chance to play for the national team.

Eons ahead of an average player like Mohammad Haris. Deserved recall to the side, however, can he translate his domestic form to internationals remains a question mark. Many players in the world are domestic bullies but can never replicate their form in the international arena.

Let's see if he gets a chance on the NZ tour or not.

I am curious to see if he plays and if so, at which position the management will make him play because in the team we have too many openers.

Sahibzada Farhan continues his good form as he made another Half-century in the President's Trophy Grade-I 2023-24 while playing for SNGPL against PTV. These are highlights of his innings.

In the presence of so many openers, I doubt that he will get any chance on this tour. Although saim and him can be exchanged for 2 matches if not more.

Farhan can easily take the place of Iftikhar as he is not scoring any runs. I am sure he can do well down the order, he is in superb form these days wo why not utilize it!

Farhan is also a top-order player IMO. He might also not do well at number 5 but yes he might do well than anybody else did on this tour.

It might be difficult for Sahibzada to bat at 5 straightaway. Rizwan can do it he's so experienced now. He can come at 5 and strengthen our reeling lower middle order.
It will give Sahibzada a chance to replicate his domestic performance at his preferred position.

Agreed. Farhan has batted in the top order in the domestic circuit where he performed well and earned his call for the squad. He should bat there. Let Rizwan bat at a lower position instead of Iftikhar.

Why should Rizwan bat at the lower position ?
